My therapist told me that we tend to marry people similar to our parents and follow their patterns as that is what we know best. My father was mentally ill but rarely drank. He could not handle it so he would only have half a beer if he had any. His brother was an alcoholic.

Ah, I sure hope I don't marry an alcoholic. But say I were to marry the guy I'm dating, he's definitely not an alcoholic, lol. I highly doubt the boyfriend I have while I'm 13 will be my husband however. And I do know generally what to look out for.
