may walked in to the green house, it was her first day of her new job!

Alice was haunted by the echoing voice of her grandfathers stories about his families escape from Ember as she walked from the 3-story clock as the time-keeper to go tell her friend May her odd stories she had been told. She was living in the 190 year of Ember, but she felt as if it had been 1,900 years that ember had survived.

harper looked around. it was dark but still light.
she wondered why Ember was the only light in the world.

Alice stormed into the green house, were there was a burst of warm air.
May was sitting peeling the patatos for tomorrow.

Harper walked into the green house.
"Hi everybody!" she said

"Hey Harpor." Alice said weekly.
"Hi Harpor!" May said happily as she hugged her.
"Why the long face?" Harper and May said together.
Alice summoned them in a huddle with her hand,

Harper jumped over.
"what?" she asked eyes wide.

"My grandfather had told me these stories about how his family, all but him, found a way out of Ember."
"A way out of Ember?!" Harpor cried.
"Yes. They told me about this silver box. It will open in about 200 years. There is another world then Ember, and I get this feeling that were about to be a part of it."
"But all there is past Ember is the Unknown Regions." May stated.
"But what if the world isn't next to Ember?" Alice said, eyebrows raised.
"What do you mean?" Harper asked skeptically.
"I mean, what if it's bollow, or even above."
"A city above Ember? Yeah, right." May shook her head.
Adruptly, Amilia, the green house keeper, walked in.

"wow" Harper said quietly looking up to Amilia.
"Hi" said Harper

"What are you girls talking about?" Amilia said kindly.
"I was just..uh..wishing May good luck on her new job." Alice said.
"Yup, well back to work." Harper said.
Her and and Alice walked out the door.
"That was close Alice sighed.
Harper bit her lip and nodded.
"Back to working with the clocks again, see ya!" Said Alice, as she ran of towards work.
Harpers curious eye traced after her.
It was her day off, why not sneek around and moaybe take a peek at the generator. Her friend Spencer did work in the pipeworks...

Harper laughed for some add reason.

Harper walked down the last alley-way to the pipeworks, but suddenly, she stopped dead.

"Ok Bella, what do you want?" asked Juliet" What happened? Is Lilly Ok? Is Aunty Amy Ok?" she was startled by the seriosness on Bella's face. Juliet was always worrying for er little 7 year old sister and her 29 year old aunt.

I got a call from Lilly yesterday, it is about aunt Amy.

"W-what happened?!" stammered Juliet. This was the time in Ember where sicknesses was traveling fast.

Kyle smilled as he counted his money he had sold another lantern he stopped and thought to himself 'I should get back to work and walked back into his inventors room the lantern was a top secret project only some people knew about it' I ran to the lights and turned them off It was a blackout so I needed to turn my lights off best they don't know.
