No. Potions. Is basically learning how to mix up concoctions, magical and non magical. It's like for witches and stuff but other charries can come there too.
Depends on your charries age. If they are 13-15 it's basic. 16-20 moderate, and 21-25 is extreme.

Shapeshifting is being able to shift into shapes and aniamls.
I think you should be able to. And others will too, probably.

Yes they have in the real world, but this is UEI. They have their own curriculum. ;) as I said before:
