@Monet: Yeah, great that you want to join. :)
No - we all just have the same 12 terms on how each of us can choose a book.
For example:
term 2: a book which was made for/ into a TV Series
And then eveyone can choose a book he wants in this category. Maybe I would choose Gossip Girl, you would choose Vampires Diaries and Roshini would choose another book + tv series.
Got the idea?

10: ... where you've already seen the movie but haven't read the book yet
11: ... where your favorite actor/ actress plays in it
12: ... which is playing at least 100 years in the past
13: ... from a german german-speaking author
14: ... where the story is about love and will make you cry
15: ... which is full of blood, death and homicide (Thriller, Horror,...)

... Which a cartoon has been based off of. (ex. Peter Pan, Quest For Camelot, Hunchback of Notre Dame, etc.)
... Whose author was born & raised in your home country.
... Which uses animals as the main character(s).
... Which would be considered a book/movie for the opposite sex.

I really like the first two categories you postest. They are great. (Oh notrea dame *sweet*)
A book where a animal is the main character - that's though! Do you know a book with that category?

there are a lot of them . i mean you don't have to use it as one of them, it was just an idea.

This sound interresting. Do they all have to be YA for this challenge?

Ok, goodie! Im probably gonna give it a go then! :)

And we also want to link everyone who is participating the challenge. I'll make a MAIN POST on 25 of december where I put everyone in and then I'll update this post so everyone who click on this post can visit also the reviews of all the other challenge-joiners.
Got the idea? :)

Go here for the infos! :)
thanks

‚Book2Movie’ Challenge 2012
I’ve already often thought about it to read also older books, which were already made into movies and then to write a review about the book, and also about the movie with a little comparision between the book and the movie. But till now I haven’t got the time or the will to do so and therefore I’ve thought this would be a great idea for a challenge!
The goal for this challenge is to read a book/ watch a movie in each of the 12 categories, which are further down, during the year of 2012 (01.01.2012 – 31.12.2012) + 1 bonus category, if someone can’t find a book in on of the 12 categories.
Which means: 12 books + movie in 12 months, therefore 1 book/ 1 movie per month.
(Book can be read/ movie can already been watched – but just one of each)
I think this isn’t too hard and we’ll be able to accomplish this challenge, even though we have to write 2 reviews a month (one for the book and one for the movie). I really hope that I’ll make it and that many many other book/move lovers will join me in this challenge. :)
Blog Bonus:
For all bloggers who wants to join, read this info: On the 25th of december I’ll post, before the challenge will begin, the MAIN POST in which everything will be decripte again with all categories and infos and there I’ll also be a list of everyone who is participating and I’ll also write the books which each of them will read in which categorie + the link to their blog (later it will link directly to the review)
Furthermore every participator has to post, on every review which is made for this challenge or on the sidebar of the blog, the ‘Book 2 Movie’ Button which should be linked back to the MAIN POST on my blog (which I mentioned will be posted on 25th of december). So everyone link to me and then everyone can go from there to all the reviews of all participators.
Therefore it is very important that every one of you who wants to join, write an e-mail to me in which you will tell me which book you want to read in which category and also you blog adress to: martina.bookaholic@gmx.net
Here are the categories for the challenge:
Read a book/ watch the movie …
1. … where the movie is more famous than the book
2. … to a TV- Series
3. … which is based on a cartoon/ fairy tale or where the main characters are animals
4. … in which you favorit actor/ actress is playing in the movie.
5. … to a book classic which was made into a movie after 1990
6. … where the book was written for the movie
7. … from an autor which is coming from you home country (for english speaking joiners: read a book from an autho who is not coming from an english speaking country)
8. … where the story is about love and where you’ll probably cry OR where the story is about blood, murder and horrific killers.
9. … which is focused on a social critic topic (misogyny, rassismn, abortion, abuse, cruelty,…)
10. … where the story is playing at least 100 years ago.
11. … where the story is playing in the futur OR where the story is playing in Asia or Africa
12. … where the movie to the book is coming to the cinemas 2012
(+ 13 bonus category: … where you’ve already watched the movie, but never read the book) – for all who have a problem to find a book/movie in one of this categories.
Enjoy yourself while choosing your books and then please write me an e-mail with the category nummer and your book. Also for those who have not a Blog. (For all who have a blog, please also tell me your blog adresse and how you liked to be called in the list.) Thanks
I’m happy and I’m really looking forward to this challenge and I’m also excitid and soo curious which books will be read in which category and how many of you will join the challenge and if we are able to make a little ‘over the globe’ challenge out of it! So please, join and send me your details and tell all of your friends. That would be fabolous!! Thanks
Greetings, Tina

And I know - I hade also a hard time pick the books/movies, but I also liked it :)

And I know - I hade also a hard time pick the boo..."
Thanks so much! I think I may try to do this challenge. It will give me an excuse to read more books and watch movies. Maybe I can work this out. I am going to post a tentative list here and when I am decided I will send you a finished list before the new year. :)

Waiting for you list, and I'm curious which books you'll choose :D

Book2Movie Challenge:
1. What's Eating Gilbert Grape
2. Dearly Devoted Dexter
3. Blood and Chocolate (are werewolves animal enough? lol)
4. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (John Cusack <3 )
5. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1993 film)
6. Red Riding Hood
7. The Reader
8. P.S. I Love You
9. The Outsiders (gang violence)
10. The Picture of Dorian Gray (2009 film)
11. Everything Is Illuminated (substituted bonus category here)
12. City of Bones (May read the whole series for this one! I hear it is really good. )

This is a good chance for me to read some classics and the books for movies I have seen as well as some banned and challenged books. It took me hours (on and off) to make this list. I still can't find a futuristic one set 100 years or more in the future.
ETA: I don't know what is up with that Dexter cover...

It's perfect! Thanks.
Books mentioned in this topic
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (other topics)The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (other topics)
Blood and Chocolate (other topics)
P.S. I Love You (other topics)
Dearly Devoted Dexter (other topics)
I've seen that many of you have an own blog and some of you also participate at some different challenges.
I've got the idea to make a 2012 'Book to Movie' - Challenge , in which I want to read with my friends 12 books and review them and afterwards to watch the movie to the book and review the movie as well and find the differences between the book and the movie.
It would be great if some of you want to join our challenge because I think it's more interesting to have more people who join the same goal.
And I don't think it's very hard to read 12 book in a whole year - so that won't (hopefully) be a problem. :)
For now - till the middle of December I thought this thread here would be great to find some terms how the people can choose the books for the challenge.
here are some examples:
Read a book ...
1: ... which was written for the movie
2: ... which was made for/into a TV-Series
3: ... which is a book classic and was made to a movie after the year 2000.
4: ... where the movie is more famous than the book
5: ... where the movie is very, very different from the book.
6: ... where the movie is coming up to the cinema 2012
7: ... which is playing in the future (Sci Fi, Dystopia,...)
8: ... which focus on social critic problems (rassism, violence, misogny,...)
9: ... which is set in Asia or Africa
So - who wants to join?
Does someone of you have any more ideas? (we need 12 different categories which will be chosen at the and of the month). And then everyone of you can chose a book he/she likes to read in this category - we don't have to read the same book, we just have to read a book which suites the different categories.
(For example: Point 2: a book which was made for/ into a TV Series:
And then eveyone can choose a book he wants in this category. Maybe I would choose Gossip Girl, you would choose Vampires Diaries and another one would choose another book + tv series. Got the idea?)
And you can even decide by yourself which category you want to read firs and how you want to order them.
I would be glad to hear from you :)
