Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry discussion

So now we begin! (( )) <-- that is for normal none roleplay related talk, kay?

Adrine stood on platform 9 3/4, looking at the Hogwarts train. Even though it was her fifth year, the color still amazed her.

grendel placidly walked through the barrier onto the platform un uncompained.

Susanne sighed. Her muggle parents had been crying about her leaving for the past week, like every year... It was her fifth year and they still hadn't got over their our-child-is-going-away-for-a-year-to-learn-magic! problems.
She braced herself and leaned against her cart, walking quickly toward the barrier. Her great horned owl hooted.

((he. sorry the other one was super short, the school bell rang so I had to shut down the computer fast or be late to assembly.))

With her trolley in hand she made her way through the packed platform, making sure not to hit anybody. She was once again uncompained, her mother being a muggle and had to work today, her father a wizard who'd been killed, when she was to young to even walk let alone remember him.

A young boy in red hair ran infront of her unexpectantly and she barley managed to stop in time. Her barn owl, Caldier, squaked ((do owls squak?)) in surprise. "Sorry," he squeked and ran off.

Adrine got to the end of the train and started to unload her trolley. She made sure the Caldier was out of the way before she tried to heave her trunk onto the wagon. She failed misserable. The train whistle rang, signling the few minutes before departure. "Great," she mumbled "I'll miss school because I couldn't get my trunk on the blasted train."

The steam started to rise, and it got so dense that you could hardly see anything infront of you. "Do you need help?" someone asked. She couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl, young or old.

"Yes please and could we hurry, I don't want to miss my train." Togehter they heaved the trunk on the train. Before she could say thank you to the mysterious helper, they were gone. Well, that's ood she thought. The train gave a last warning whistle. Two minutes till they were off. Surprised she hurried off to the closest door and jumped in. Just in time too, the train started to move once she was sucurely safe within. It seemed that it just been waiting for her to get on.

Wonder if it was so, she moved around the group of children waving good bye to their parents and went to find her friends.

Adrine spotted Susanne in a trolley being mobbed by people, and waved in a big fluid motion, trying to catch her eye. Susanne saw, and waved back. A big smile spread across her face, and she instantly ditched the mob as if they were part of the wall to greet her best friend. The mob frowned, some of them even grumbled.
"Adrine!" she shrieked, giving her friend a bear hug. "Let's go find somewhere quiet," Susanne continued, eyeing the mob significantly. She didn't even give Adrine a chance to speak.

Mariana sighed as she watched the happy reunions happening all around her. As an exchange student from Beauxbatons, she was entirely lost in the crowd of strangers. Why had her parents transfer her? She pulled her trolley to the train, alone since her parents hadn't been able to come. Hopefully she would find an empty compartment... but this hope was dashed as soon as she walked on to the train. How would she even be able to move through this mob of people?

Adrine was pulled away by Susanne quickly from the forming crowd. Susanne was her best friend, even though she was in Ravenclaw and herself in Gryffindor.Even though they each had their own group of "house" friends which harldy at all mingled together, they still managed to keep their friendship true and strong. Making sure that Susanne wasn't going to rip her arm off, she let her drag her to an empty compartment.

They past a new girl on their way, she had curly reddish brown hair and didn't look at all familiar. She didn't look young enough to be a first year, more like her age. She couldn't give it much time becasue Susanne dragged her in to the closest empty compartment she found, shutting the door behind her.

Adrine plopped down on the seat, Susanne said infront of her. "So, who was you summer?" she asked Susanne. Of course, she already knew how most of it went from recent emails and owls, but she thought it was a pretty good conversation starter.

Eion walked down the train, trying to find his friends. A mob of people seemed to have disbursted, Susanne's doing probably, so he was having a hard time moving around. He was pushed by someone and accidently got knocked into someone else, sending both of them tumbling. "Sorry," he said, getting up. He turned to find Grendel, a 6th year, on the ground.

"Here, let me help." Another boy said and they both helped Grendle up. The other boy was James Potter, Harry Potter's son. Having been brought up by muggles all his life, he had no idea who Harry was, what he'd done to be famous or why his children where so famous. That was until he went to Hogwarts, but he still treated the Potter children like regluar folk.

"Thanks," said Grendel.
"No prob, we should probably move out of hte hall, it's too crowded." Eion said, "Don't want to fall on you again."

((Yep. Sorry if it seemed i took control too much Keith, if you have a problem with it, I'll change it! We should make descrips for the Potter children so we know how to describe them. Any volunteers?))

"Hello, Susanne?" Adrine waved her hand infront of Susanne's face who seemed to have drifted off.

"Huh? Oh sorry, just daydreaming," she said, her expression recovering, buy her voice was still distant and hazy.
"Boys again." Adrine said in a flat voice. It was a statement, not a question.
Susanne blushed a deep crimson colour (notice the spelling, I'm Canadian) that would make any boy fall for her indeed, and changed the subject.
"So, OWLs this year eh?"(again, with the Canadian characteristics) she remarked.
"Yea," Adrine said, and she suddenly looked troubled.
"Don't worry, you'll do great!" Susanne encouraged her friend. "Don't get worried, it'll make the exam harder than it seems. And it's at the end of the year, so you have a lot of time to study, right?"

"But I don't know why we even have to take them!" Adrine cried. "There so hard and I heard that James Potter was made Qudditch Captin this year and you know how much he likes to practice. Angeline Weasly came to visit and said he was acting exactly the way Oliver Woods used to train them. AHH! When am I going to find the time. Not to mention I basically suck at Potions!" she dropped her head in her hands.

The door slid open and three guys walked in. "I heard someone say my name," James said, slidding in next to Susanne. Eion sat next to Adrine and placed his arm around her. Grendel stood at the door, looking uncomfortable.

"You think everyone is always talking about you James," Adrine said,kicking him playfully. "Good thing you have friends like us that keep you grounded." James rolled his eyes and smiled. He glanced to see Grendel inching toward the door.

"You can sit down," James told him.

"Did you see that new girl?" Adrine asked quickly, not wanting to make Grendel uncomfortable.

"Which one?" Eion asked her.

"There's this new girl I saw coming down here, she looked about our age, maybe she was homeschooled before. Now that I think about it, she seemed a bit lost." she rememebered.

"Oh, her. Yeah, dad said we'd be getting an exchange student from Beauxbatons," James said lightly.

Penelope was anxious. It was her fifth year returning to Hogwarts, but she still was still as scared as if it was her first time there. With her new crisp robes on and a large bag of books by her side, there was nothing left to do except to fiddle her thumbs and stare at her remaining chocolate frogs that she was too full to digest. Her mind wandered out the window as millions of thoughts swarmed her head. Another magiacal year was going to start.

"Would you like anything from the Trolley?" The Trolley lady asked. Eion jumped to his feet and walked over to her. Everyone laughed, Eion was known for his sweet tooth.

After everyone had bought something and she'd left did Adrine notice that Grendel had left. Probably went to find his year friends, she thought. She didn't blame him for wanting to go find his friends. She herself had an urge to find the rest of her friends and her quidditch team, but she knew that Susanne needed her more,well for now anyway.

I'm so lost Mariana thought. People ran around her in blurs, occasionally knocking her over and taking a second to register that they had never seen her before. Every once in a while, she would feel curious eyes on her back or here some whispered names. but she was too preoccupied to think much of it; the train was starting and she still didn't have a place to sit.

The crowd began thinning, and Mariana found she could move again. She sighed in relief. Then she hurried over to the closest compartment. It seemed quiet. She quickly pulled the door open and thrust herself inside, pulling her trunk in behind her. "Thank Merlin," she said. Then she turned bright red with embarrassment: the compartment wasn't empty after all.

"um Hi," Adrine said to the girl who had just sat down spontaniously in their compartment.

"See, that's here, the new girl from Beauxbatons," James said, stuffing his mouth with another chocolate frog.

"Shut up James," Adrine said. She turned back to the girl.

"Hi, I'm Adrine, Gryffindor." she said introducing herself.

"Eion, Gryffindor and that over there is James also Gryffindor, you get used to his ways eventually," he told the new girl.

"Hi, I'm Susanne, Ravenclaw," Susanne told her.

Penelope was out of it in her compartment. She was gazing out of her window with her books nudging her when there was a bump once in a while. She was only snapped back into life when she heard a compartment door close loudly in a compartment near hers.

((hehe, see how i'm starting to mold my character into your guy's))

She started to feel more lonely then ever when she heard talking of probably friends reuniting again. What was wrong with her! Why wasn't she enjoying this start of a new year?

((yay! we should make a whole bunch of noise and you should comeover and check why we're making it.))

Adrine stood up to move next to Susanne so the guys could sit together and eat, when James tripped her and she hit the wall. "James Potter, you're gonna get it!" she yelled at him, smiling.
James faked scarness.

"You wouldn't want to do that, you might not make the team this year," he warned.

"Is that a threat?" she asked him. He looked away and shrugged. "You know there's no better Chaser in all of Gryiffindor, wait no that's not big enough, in all of Hogwarts could you replace me with," she told him.

James glared at her, then laughed. "So true Evermore, so true." Everyone laughed and began talking at once.

"Besides, I wouldn't liek to endure his endless tortue of practice without you," Eion whspered to Adrine. She laughed.

"I'm sure you'd make it." she teased.

Penelope heard more talking and laughing.
Would they be quiet back there! She thought, annoyed.
She felt like they were mocking her, even though they were obviously unaware of her existence right behind their compartment. When there was laughing and movement around, she became more curious. Tired of her boredom, and possibly excited about seeing one of her old friends again, Penelope smoothed her robe and open\ned her compartment door to check out her loud neighbors. She peeked over into the noisy compartment and saw a girl around her age and slightly recognizable.
"Adrine?" She thought.
It was Adrine, a another student she had befriended on her first year at Hogwarts. She hadn't seen her in a while.

((is that ok with you Karina? If not, we can pretend it is someone else, only mistaken?))

((eesh! That was a lot to write. This is fun!!))

(( Iknow! Isn't RP fun? Yeah, they can be friends, Adrine likes having friends. Were they friends then were they not friends? Why else hadn't Adrine seen her in a while?))

Everyone quited down when the door opened. "Adrine?" the girl asked.
"Penelope!" Adrine cried, letting go of James who she'd been try to attack. "Oh my gosh how are you, how was your summer?" she asked her, dragging her into the compartment.

"Hey Pen," Eion waved from his corner. "Sup, Penelope haven't seen you in a while," James noted, getting up.

"You know Susanne, right?" Adrine asked, pointing her out, Susanne waved. "That's Mariana, she's a transfer student from Beauxbotons." Mariana waved and went back to talking to Susanne.

((hahaha i like how this is turning out! Ok, my plan was that they just drifted apart because of 'work' and stuff, they were still friends, just haven't seen each other in a while))

Penelope gave a huge smile. It was Adrine!
"I've been so great!" Penelope said as she was lead into a circle of friends. She waved and nodded to the other friends in the compartment, some she only faintly recognized from a while ago. Everyone was comfortable and conversationable, nothing weird.
"How is everything Penny!" James said as he and Adrine sat back down.
Penelope blushed and started talking.
"Family's great... Mum and Dad and great... big brother Thomas is starting his new job as a Aurur at the Ministry of Magic!" Penelope added. Everyone seemed happy and nice. It made her feel alot better.
"Oh, right!" She suddenly said. "I better go get my things and bring them over!"
Everyone agreed in a jabber and Penelope got up and went to retrieve her bags. How great things were unfolding.

((ok, now i'm automatically thinking that the 'others' should sorta talk about Penelope, not in a bad way, but just talking and asking about her while she is getting her stuff! Not in a rude way, just like 'Yeah, it's great to see Pen again' or something like that. Just a suggestion :))

"Wow. I haven't seen Penelope in like forever, what happened?" Eion asked once she went to go get her stuff.

"I don't know, school I guess." Adrine said.

"I don't know much, but I do know that Thomas really is starting with the Aura's soon, Dad told me," James said.

"Your dad tells you alot of things," Adrine said, smacking him.

"He's got connections,"

"Yeah well, I bet he didn't tell you how to ace the OWLS!" Eion told him pushing him.

"Or how to control you players," Adrine teased him.

"Nih." he glanced at his watch. "Ugh. I have to go, I have to find Lily and Huge. Hope they're managing okay. It's there first year and Mum told us to check on them once in a while and I'm pretty sure Albus and Rose are too busy catching up to remember...." James said, waved goodbye to his friends and left the compartment.

((haha nice :) i also like how Harry like knows that Thomas is an aura becuase he's one and stuff, works out perfectly!!!))

"Hey guys!" Penelope said as she pulled in her things. "Chocolate Frogs!" She threw a box to each of the kids in the compartment and pulled her stuff up above the seats. "Where's James?"

"Went to check on Lily and Hugh" Eion said, openning his box.

Penelope shrugged and sat down.

((sorry! i'll write more later!!))

Adrine glanced at her clock. "Guys, we're almost there, we better change." Adrine picked her bag and went to go change in to her robes. Susanne, Mariana and Penelope followed her into the compartment next door. Eion chnaged there.

"Lovely!" Penelope exclaimed.
The girls were all finished with their robes, and the scent of new car filled the small compartment. They all admired each others robes.

"I wonder if Eion is done" Penelope said, brushing some lint off her robe.

"Let's go check" Adrine said.

The girls went back into the other compartment. Eion was all dressed and seemed to have bought another chocolate frog from the trolley. James sat next to him also ready, they were chatting casually when the girls walked in.

"Why, don't we look handsom," Adrine teased as she sat between her two guy friends. They glared at her. Susanne stood out with her yellow and black tie, while Mariana wore no tie yet.

"Just twenty more minutes guys, twenty more minutes," Eion said happily.

When the train stopped at Hogsmeade,everyone was in a hurry to get off and everybody got seperated and had to get in different carriages. James stayed with Mariana so she wouldn't get lost. A fifth year they had never seen before stepped into their carriage.
"Hi, I'm Lynn. Can I sit with you?" she said.
"Sure!" James said, "Are you another exchange student?"
"No, I lived in South America so I went to the school there. This is my first year here; we just moved back," Lynn replied.
((This is my first time so I don't know how good this is. If there is anything you think I should change, just tell me!))

Susanne went her seperate way to enter with her friends. Adrine stuck to Eion and they made their way through the crowd, picking up more friends along the way. She managed to see Albus and Rose, but ddin't bother to say hi, since they too were surrounded.

Adrine plopped herself down on the carraige seat. "It seems to get crowder every year!" she complained.

"Duh, new kids come everyear," her friend Kellie told her.

Adrine looked around and found James and Mariana sitting togehter with a new girl. "So many exchange students this year," Eion noted. Everyone nodded.

"I wonder where she came from," Adrine wondered.

"I just hope she like quidditch," antoher friend, Jon, said.

"Is that all you think about?" Adrine asked him. He snorted.

"Its all you think about," Jon said. Adrine gapped at him and smacked him playful.

"Is not!"

"That and messing up the potions room," they all teased.

((hahah yeah Anna (?), you'll flow, (quote Karina ;) and by the way Karina, i like how you explained the ties! like how Maraina is new and she doesn't have one yet... good!))

Penelope soon lost her friends in the mounds of students. She braced her suitcase and started off. she managed to get a wave out of Eion and Adrine before they drifted away in their carriage. She ran up to a random carriage containing Mariana, James, and another girl she hadn't met before. ((cue, Lynn :))

"This is Lynn" James explained when Penelope hopped on.

Penelope looked at the girl curiously and squeezed in at the end of the small carriage

"Penelope, 5th year" Penelope said, holding out a hand. Lynn shook it happily when the carriage started moving.

"I'm guessing you are a transfer?" She added.

Adrine watched as Penelope sat down with James and Mariana. She didn't know what was up with him, suddenly he'd gotten very mature-okay that's a lie, just maturere- and had voulentered to be Mariana's guide and now he was sitting with a whole bunch of people he didn't know rather than sit with them(us) and talk.

At least he changed for the better, Adrine thought. She was being posesive again, not wanting to share her friends, something she was learning to deal with and was very good at today.

"Yep, my dad decided he'd rather practice dentistry in England rather than in South America. I could have kept going to the South American school, but I decided to try Hogwarts. Its supposed to be one of the best wizard training schools in the world! It is by your personality right? I wonder how I will be sorted?" she worried.
((In the character section I put one way she could be sorted, but any other way is fine too!))

The carragies started to move and soon they were once more at Hogwart's gate. "Wow," Adrine heard Eion whisper next to her. She felt the same way. It was feeling...at home.

They got off and made their way with the rest of the school to the dinning hall. The proffesors were all ready there. The houses started to form as the students sat themselves at their tables.

((Who's headmaster? If this is after DH then we need to pick someone or make them up. Also who are the teachers?))

"Why weren't you at King's Cross station?" James questioned.
"Oh! I live near Hogsmeade in a muggle village. I can just take a bus over to Hogsmeade and get in the carriages," Lynn replies

((Why doesn't Professor McGonagall be Headmistress?))

Professor McGonagall tapped her cup, getting everyone's attention. "Welcome back everyone, shall we begin the sorting?" she asked, smiling at everyone. Everyone cheered. She motioned her hand and the grand doors opened, realeviing Professor Longbottom followed by a trail of scared 1st years. James sat down next to Adrine just in time.

"Where have you been?" Adrine whispered to him.
"Had to figure out where Lynn and Mariana where to be sorted." he whispered back.
"So," James pointed to the crowd. Behind them all walked two older looking students.

((Gryffindor, I think. That's where the rest of the potters and weasleys were.))

Professor Longbottom started to call out first years names and placing the sorting hat on their heads. ALmost instantly the hat would shout a house. James pointed as Lily's name was called.

"Hmm. Another Potter," the hat said. "Weasly too if I remember,".

"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat said. Adrine, James, Eion and the rest of the Gryffindor's exploded into cheers. Lily, obvioulsy relived practically ran to sit next to her brother.

"We knew you'd make it," Adrine congratulated her.

Lynn felt so out of place! She and Mariana were the tallest in a sea of little first years. If only there was some other way to do this! She waited patiently as the A's through the F's were called. Then she heard her name.
"Gecko, Lynn, please come up."
She took a deep breath and walked up. The sorting hat was placed on her head.
It instantly called out, "RAVENCLAW!"
Relieved, she quickly walked over to Ravenclaw where Susanne was waving frantically.
"Its nice to have you in Ravenclaw. I hope you like it. Here, sit next to me," Susanne said.
"Thanks!" As Lynn sat down to watch the rest of the sorting, she thought,"I think I am going to like it here!"

Penelope scooted over to where her friends were sitting.

"I'm so sorry!" She said and plopped down. "I could not find you guys!"

Everyone waved to Lynn as she ran to the Ravenclaw table.

"What a nice girl!" Penelope said.

Lilly had come over and was giving everyone hugs.

((so sorry! i'm sorta behind! I came from the carriage to the table! Also, Mcgongle sounds good for the headmistress, i mean she was it for like 3 days in the books one time, right?))

((Yep. Well I know she' in Ravenclaw so that parts right!))

Adrine watched as Lynn was placed into Ravenclaw. She smiled knowing Susanne would make her feel welcomed. "Weasly, Hugo" Longbottom called. Everyone got ready again.

Hugo walked quickly to the hat and sat down. "Another Weasly! How many of you are there?" the hat asked smiling. "GRYFFINDOR!" he yelled. Hugo jumped off, Proffesor Longbottom was quick to take the hat off, and ran to sit next to Lily. He recived high fives and congratulations from everyone.

Hugo joined with all the others with a huge smile on his face.

"Feels spectacular, huh?" Penny mentioned, grinning.

Hugo noded a huge nod and gave her a smile.

"Mum and Dad are going to be excited when I write to them!" He said.

((k, i'm saying that Penny's mom and Hermione/Ron have connections, is that cool? I know it sounds too coincedental, but i can't think of another way of why everyone is randomly sitting together!))

((NM I can stay on for a little longer. Maybe beacuse they're friends...and friends sit together. Wait. I thought Pen had lost conncetion with alot of them like Adrine and if Adrine is always hanging out wtih James how is that possible?))

((AHHHHH!! i'm not sure :( well, i'm thinking their parents were good together (like friends) so like their kids would be sorta like friends too?? and i'm not too sure how James would fit in somehow. Butttttt, i guess that they could just be peopl who know each other...))

((yeah. that sounds reasonable. James would fit in beacuse his Potter's son and one of Adrine's best friends. and if pen was firends with the Potters then she'd still be friends with Adrine.))

((wow! only two days and so much has happened!!!))
Mariana stood in the line, happy to at least have the company of Lynn. Everything on the train had worked out so perfectly, it was like a dream. But soon the tall, severe-looking headmistress had called up "gecko, lynn," and she stood alone in a sea of short people. by the time the headmistress had called, "tavalli, mariana," she was close to a panic attack. swallowing hard, she walked up the steps and sat on the rickety wooden stool. an old hat was placed on her head.
"hmm," a little voice said, and she almost shrieked in fright. she had seen the hat yell out houses for the past hour or so, but she'd had no idea it would talk to her. "let's see, yes, that should be a hufflepu- but wait, what's this? oh my. GRYFFINDOR!" the hat concluded.
Mariana grinned and hopped down from the stool. she walked over to the red and gold clad table, where Adrine, Eion, Penelope and James from the train were all clapping enthusiastically.
"Congratulations," said James as she squeezed in between him and Penelope. she flashed him a smile. "thanks," she replied. she looked around at everyone and noticed Adrine looking slightly annoyed, or maybe suspicious? Oh no, she thought, what am I doing wrong? She had always been scared of not fitting in, and starting out on the wrong side of this popular, confident quidditch player did not seem like the right way to avoid that.
