Claire sat on the edge of the fountain pretending to read scriptures, the town usually had an hour set aside for scripture reading, she found it pointless. She knew in other colonies they didn't do this, if you wanted an hour to study your scriptures, you should put aside an hour to study your scriptures. The bell rang and the town square came to life again. People talking while they put their books away. "God bless you." one man said as he passed her. "You too." She said.
Darcy was at the highest window in the Sacred Tower, smoking a cigerette. He saw the square do it's daily reading and new more than half did it just for appearances sake. Smashing the ciggerett, He shook his head and dropped the cigerette onto the square.
Claire stood as she put her bible into her bag. She sighed as she looked around. She wondered how many people where stuck, like her, in this place. She began walking toward the book shop next to the Sacred Tower. She found it amusing how the only shop that didn't exclusively sell bibles and books of prayer was next to the Sacred Tower. She pushed the door open and looked up at the ding as she walked in. "God Bless my soul, if it isn't Claire." She smiled at the shop owner, "good morning." She said looking around, it was a wonder he stayed in business, no one ever really came into his shop. She bought three books with colorful covers and left, without putting them in her bag. Earning herself some strange and sometimes scornful looks from the people around her.
((like she could need medicine from someone that lives or works in the tower, but he's not there so Darcy helps her out instead...))
((It sounds like she wants to get out of Holy Land or at least find something that is worth staying so what about if she starts hanging out with people that are like "Rebels" in Holy Land. They can be the scum of society. I'm picturing Holy Land society to be strict, victorian like group that takes everything from the Bible Literally. She can see a group of them and deciede to follow them ))

As Claire was walking down the street, so were a group of two boys and two girls. Unlike the creme and like colors other people were wearing, these teenagers were modeling leather jackets and earthtone like colors. The boys had on hiking boots instead of the dress shoes men of society wore. The girls had on vibrant colored eyeliner and skinny jeans. To say that the girls who gave Claire scornful looks did anything less to these four, would be a lie. Women with long skirts that touched the ground either fainted at the sight of them or gossip their mouths off because of the "scandal" and how people like them were the reasons their children weren't "safe". The group that had the attention of the whole street corner was laughing and talking about Greek philosphy. Each saying something over the other when the argument became heated. They walked down the streets to a place that was not as crowded.
((I picture the streets narrow and long like Europe))

((Oh, right. I'm a on the same page now. And I pictured the streets much the same way.))Claire looked down at her own apparel, though her floor length dress was a bit more colorful, it was still her conforming to her mother's and the rest of the colony's idea of "appropriate". She turned to a dark window that reflected her face well. Her face looked so simple in the reflection. She bit her lip, surprised by how much she truly conformed compared to the group that had just passed. She looked at her armful of books, feeling silly. She knew she shouldn't have been comparing herself to anyone but there was something about that group... She slipped the books into her bag and hurried after them. Her curiosity getting the better of her.
((I think we are going to get along great!))
The group went to the part of town that was more of a rundown, ghost town and went into a forrest. The forest was dense and had no trail but they knew where to go. It was forty-five minutes and about seventeen miles later that they stopped. Where they stopped no one could imagine. It was like an exotic circus. Many people, walked around the grounds. This was where freedom of expression lived, where learning was encouraged, personal philosophy needed. The many people here knew that by comeing here they risked many things and one of those were their lives. The Pope didn't exactly like people like them so he could make any lie about them and execute them, acting like it was public service. The group that came in was now multipied by thirty.

Claire gaped at the scene from behind a tree. She found herself in complete awe. She began to feel a longing to be like them, it was a kind of longing she'd never felt before and she began chastising herself for thinking that way. It was then she realized how foolish the thought was. These people were free, in danger, sure, but free. She wanted freedom. Her ideas didn't conform to those of her family's, in fact, she couldn't think of one family member that would approve of her even buying a fantasy novel, let alone this. She looked around taking in each person's face, their expressions, though all different, conveyed mostly happiness. Unlike the people back in the village whose happiness seemed forced. You should go, Claire. she advised herself. You don't belong here, with them or even in the colony. You'd be better off leaving here all together. It wasn't the first time she thought this way, but it was the first time she had seriously considered it. She turned to leave and pack to sneak off in the middle of the night, but found that she couldn't. She didn't know the way back.
John was talking with a few of his friends when he saw something moving by the trees. "I'll be right back." Walking to the spot slowly and quietly, he found a girl that looked from the main part of the Land. "Who are you and what do you want?" his voice that was between deep and calm went to Claire.
She jumped. Hand suddenly on her heart. She took a deep breath in an attempt to clam herself "I...I'm Claire." She said finally, "As to what I want... You see, I... I was... upset.. about something so, I just ran... here... and now I'm... lost..." she bit her lip.
John looked at her and than at the bag she carred. "Can I look at the books you have in your bag?" He asked randomly
She sighed and after a moment of hesitation she let the bag fall off her shoulder and into her hand as she released her bag over to him.
It took a moment to look over her books and John looked back at Claire. "Why don't you come with me and I'll give you a ride home." John said and gave her her books back
She bit her lip. you really shouldn't. She thought. "Um... Alright." she said yet again feeling like an idiot. "Thank you."
"First, I need you to change into pants. You won't be comfortable here with that skirt of yours." He pointed to her dress. "The land here isn't paved down, it's wild and I don't think a snake bit is something you want."
"I would but.... I don't own pants. I think that might be helpful with the whole Change-into-pants-thing, ya know?"
"And asking would be also helpful to." John smiled at her spunk. He turned around and yelled out. "Billy, can I barrow a pair of your pants please?" The girl gave him a "What for?" look and he nodded toward Claire. Nikki understood and went into one of the tents before jogging over to them.
"You can put your skirt in your bag and when you go back, just switch to your skirt." John said and left Claire to change.
"You can put your skirt in your bag and when you go back, just switch to your skirt." John said and left Claire to change.
Claire put the pants on under her skirt before pulling it down. The pants felt weird against her legs. They were tight against her legs. She taped her feet together for a moment finally getting a good look at her now extremely dirty black flats. She pulled her tan button up shirt down and rolled the sleeves to her elbows. She put her skirt in her bag, she took a deep breath. Well, this'll be an adventure.
"Follow me and try not to look so afraid." John joked and walked alittle ahead of her. The people that they passed by all gave John a nod or a hello and looked at Claire with curiousness and alittle judgemental. There were lights being to be lightened since it was going to get dark soon. John headed toward the biggest tent where they first saw the girl Nikki and other people.
"Whose your new friend John?" a voice with no face asked.
"Her name is Claire. Claire this is my friend Christian Darcy." Right when John said his name, the group of people split so that Claire could see a man about in his twenties or so sit with his arm over the top part of the couch.
"Please." Darcy stood up and went up to her to bow to her respectfully. "Call me Darcy."

She pulled the blue ribbon out of her hair letting her dark curls fall around her shoulders and into her face. "I'm not scared." she muttered.
She looked up when she heard the voice and tucked her hair behind her ear as the man approached her.
She raised her eye brow as he bowed dramatically and introduced himself. She almost commented, but figured, that'd be a bad idea. Plus, she wasn't sure if she should curtsy or not. "Um, hello." She said finally.
"Would you like to stay awhile before going back home?" john asked when Darcy looked at him to give her the invitation to stay since he was the one to find her.
"Um, sure, I mean, if that's alright." She said her blue eyes searching the two men's faces. Not sure how to accept the invite.
"Of course, why would we invite you otherwise if we didn't want you to accept it?" Darcy smiled at the girl infront of him seeing that she has a few ways to go.
"Well, there is such a thing as common curtsy. I know plenty of people who give out invitations to people they'd love to see eaten by sharks." She Shrugged.
"We don't follow that kind of rule book. Here, it's not nice to do that. I mean why would you do something without meaning it?" John said with a smile
"Because people are heartless." She shrugged. "Not to mention conformist," She looked around, "but you probably already knew that..."
((For the plot I was thinking about The Pope trying to wipe of the "scum" by trying to blame something on them so the rebels have to go nomad for awhile to put together evidence that The Pope lied but I also at the end realize it doesn't matter because The Holy Land has people just like The Pope that just wanted them gone. So The Rebels plead with the other colonies to reform Holy Land

"I know a lot of people are forced to live a certain way and are oppressed." Darcy said and walked out side the tent with Claire and John
"I know a lot of people are forced to live a certain way and are oppressed." Darcy said and walked out side the tent with Claire and John
"and then there are the people that aren't forced into anything. Like, my family, for example, you can't force my family into anything. In short my mother treats people like that because she believes it's what's right." She said fallowing them.
"But who raised her to be like that? I suppose to grew up that way or she would have been kicked out." Darcy countered
"Don't defend her." She said calmly, staring off into the woods. "trust me, they were not forced into anything. But if you must defend them in some way. I will allow you to say they were brain washed, but there is no excuse for the way they've treated people." Her voice was still steady there was no another emotion in her voice but sadness. Although, her jaw tightened and she looked at no one.
Darcy smiled at Claire's passion and lifted her jaw so that she would look at him "You are right, there isn't an excuse but we can not let our hate for their actions to eat us away. Hate is a malady." Darcy took away his hand and lead her to Nikki and a group of other girls who had interesting if nothing else appearances. "Claire this is Nikki Belkove, Nikki our new friend Claire." Darcy introduced them and bowed away.
"Oh, I see you have books with you! What do you like to read?" A girl with unnatural colored hair asked.

Claire almost told him, that it wasn't hate that drove her thoughts, she loved her family, just hated being around them for more than a day, which makes holidays hell. But she decided against it. Her relationship with her family was far too complex for anyone to truly understand unless they go through the same thing. She smiled, books, finally something not so dark. "Fiction." She said simply. Fiction seemed to cover every kind of book she liked to read.
((So, I am a bit confused... is this like a completely different world? or is it our world in the future? or is it like something else? Because that would make a difference in book choices.)) She pulled out the books and handed them to Nikki. "I've got loads more at home, I only ever come across two or three I haven't truly enjoyed.

((Its kind of a alter-world in a way. Just say some you know))
"Oh my!" Nikki showed all the other girls.
"We must bring her to Luna!" The girl with unnatural hair said.
"Just what I was thinking!" Nikki said. "So it's in agreement that we must!" Nikki grabbed Claire and brought her to another tent that had stairs and mythical creatures painted on it. A girl with white hair, pale pale white skin, dark lips, and dark eyes came into view. She was reading a book. Her dress was gothic and with lace. "Claire, this is Luna Belle. Luna, this is Ms. Claire." When Luna turned around, her eyes were still on the book, this let Claire see her eyelids which were decorated with purple and black to look like a castle. Gold sparkles added to be stars in the purple sky. This scene depicted the very book Claire brought

Claire was faninated by Luna's eye make-up. Shelooked at the purple book in her hand, the cover seemed to match Luna's eye lids with awe worthy perfection. "how.. how did you do that?" Claire asked before she could give much thought to speaking.
That's when Luna's silver like eyes went up to look at Claire. "A lot of patience." Luna said and put the book she had just finished back into the shelf.
"Luna Belle is our storyteller, she loves to this kind of art. To tell stories on the face." Nikki said with a smile at her friend's uniqueness. "She can't tell a life either"
"'It is very often nothing but our own vanity that deceives us.'" Luna qouted Pride and Prejudice as she walked up to the group

Claire smiled, recognizing the quote from her favorite book . She pictured the loved-to-near-worn-out book sitting on her bed-side table, where most people's bibles take rest. "Jane Austen." She said with a smile. It felt good to smile again, truly smile.

"One of my favorites of course." Luna said. "Do you want to see one of my prized pocessions?" Luna wordlessly lead toward a case that looked like not a single dust had ever fell on it. "The book in the center was given to me by my grandmother. She was given it by hers as well. This is one of the first editoin Pride and Prejudice. I don't read of it anymroe of course but to think, that book came out when Jane Austen herself was alive."

"wow" the sound was a wisp from her throat out passed her lips in a whisper. "That's amazing. Before my father died he would tell me everyday that someday one of the original Sherlock Holmes manuscripts would be mine, but this, this is so much more awe-inspiring. This, is truly amazing." She said, not taking her eyes off the book.
"Would you like to follow me? I read to the children and a new addition to our tea party is always welcome." Luna said to Claire
