Cryonics is basically freezing somebody when they're at the brink of death and modern medicine can't save them, in the hope of thawing them when something comes along that can. The problem is, we don't really have a way of safely thawing them...people are just sort of hoping that someday, something might be invented. In the meantime, it's costing tons to keep the storage going....

Here's a website of a cryonics company, I posted it in the 'Living Forever' topic too: http://www.alcor.com

So yeah, what do you people think?

Cryonics is not scientifically supported at all. Here's a Penn and Teller segment on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOA0-w...

Yeah, but if you're already dead, who cares? :P

Eh, it's a business. If people want to pay for it, it's their problem.

True lol.

Brigid ✩ The idea of cryonics really freaks me the heck out. It's definitely not something I'd want to happen to me. I mean, even if you were about to die and you were cryogenically frozen, you'd still end up in a pretty crappy situation. Say you come back to life like 200 years later ... everyone you used to know would be dead. Plus, obviously, you would have missed an awful lot of time on Earth. It would be majorly freaky. O_o

Well not t mention the fact that it's scientifically impossible... the defreezing process would turn your cells into mush...

Basically. And even if it didn't...your blood is removed. You are full of antifreeze. There's no way you'd be able to just recover from that.
