And of course the hot issue right now is not coming last in the David Gemmell Morningstar award. Something you might help out with with two simple clicks!:

A dark fantasy novel with an engaging, anti-hero type character as the chief protagonist.
Was lucky enough to get a signed, numbered copy of the novel on pre order and the book certainly lived up to my expectations.
Will certainly be getting the king of thorns when it comes out in August.

That's interesting about Clockwork Orange, I was suggesting the book to a friend and the first thing I mentioned to them was how it kind of reminded me of A Clockwork Orange, minus the hallucinogenic milk.
I don't know if anyone noticed, Mark Lawrence is scheduled to answer fan questions on reddit fantasy March 29.

Only downside is that, at least so far, Jorg is the only character who feels like he has any substance. That might just be because Jorg is self-obsessed, rather than a flaw in the writing.
Elizabeth wrote: "Hm, sounds interesting. What's it like? I mean does it resemble Eragon or Pellinor or other popular fantasy?"
It's nothing like those two, no.
The author has said that this book was inspired by A Clockwork Orange and it shows. Moore's V for Vendetta arguably has a similar protagonist as well.
If I was going to compare this with another author's work of fantasy, Joe Abercrombie's First Law books, Michael Moorcock's Elric, and Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos books are the first that come to mind.
