Does anyone here also like video gaming?
I'm a gamer. :) I have to agree I love storyline based games. I'm not much of a fan of all the first person shooters, but there are a few that I enjoy. I play a bit of everything, MMO's included. I have to say my favorite MMO is Lord of the Rings Online, it's free to play now and it's massive. I'm currently playing Skyrim and I've got about 58 hours put into it and I'm not where close to be half way through.
I'm a huge gamer myself as well. mostly rpgs, but if its got a good story, ill play it. I'm also currently sucked into playing skyrim lately, logging around 120 hours at the moment, and still so much to do.
@Michele: I would about around that amount if I hadn't stopped to play Assassin's Creed Revelations. How much of the story have you done? I'm not terribly far in, probably about 5 or 6 main quests done. @Sonya: I play a few of those too, but I get tired of them quickly.

I took a 2 year break and came back when it went free to play. I've since subscribed and enjoy my time on the game immensely!
Love RPGs, just finishing Dragon Age, kinda old now but I wanted to start from the beginning. Can't wait to play the next one :)
Adore video games, although I'm a generation behind on equipment, although I have promised myself that once I get an impossibly huge television, I can get a PS3 (mainly because I want to play God of War). I do have a Wii and enjoy playing Mario Kart (and I race with my friends online), Epic Mickey, and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess along with some of the sports games. I also have the Wii version of Destroy All Humans which is one of the most fun alien invasion games ever.
Oh I'm a gamer from way back. Legend of Zelda got me hooked. Then I played all the Dragon Warrior games, I'm a huge fan of the RPG.Discovered Ultima Online and played that for like 10 years. I will always find it superior in many ways to World of Warcraft.
I don't game as much now as I used to, but there are a few free games I enjoy. Combat Arms, a first person shooter, and Fallen Earth, can't go wrong with post apocalyptic.
Some other old favorites of mine are the Resident Evil series. Resident Evil 2 is still my all time favorite. I'm also eagerly awaiting the final installment...so they say...of Mass Effect. I've finished off the first and second...come on three!
I have Twilight Princess for GC (never got or wanted a Wii). I got stuck with the rescuing monkeys part though, and haven't played since >.<. I did get a strategy guide I found at Half-Price Books to help me, but still haven't gone back to finish it. Meagan, I wanted to buy Monster Tale but haven't yet, and don't really have money at the moment anyway, after holiday shopping. But how is the game?
I was wanting something to play yesterday so hubby suggested Viva Pinata. It's cute, just trying to make a lot of money by selling pumpkins, chilis and sunflowers so I'll have enough to hire a helper and start trying to attract pinatas to my garden. I'm trying hard not to kill my trees and plants!
Maybe I should try LOTRO... my main gripe with free MMO's is that you're almost forced to buy if you want to be equal to players who buy. That's why I'm such a strong supporter of Red5's concept for FireFall, though it will be many months still until it goes out of Beta.
I'm finishing up Apollo Justice on my DS, so I can play The World Ends With You. I love RPG's as well :).
I've always wanted to play an MMO but never wanted to pay for it so FireFall sounds interesting

I have played em all and am an EQII MMO player. I have been playing MMO's since my first computer at age 12. I also play console games and I still have my original NES and all of my 50 some odd games. I also still have my gameboy color, and sega genesis. ATM I have all of this generation consoles. I prefer zombie games with an awesome story line, rpgs, thriller games with great story line etc. My gamer comes out in my writing lol. My top fave game right now is 3RD Birthday on the PSP. That game blew my mind. Loved it!!!Least to say I am also a gaming nerd :D

For those of you who like storyline based games should play, well everything, that Bioware ever developed. They're my favorite developers and are the people behind awesome games like Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 1, 2 and (soon) 3.But currently I'm exploring the wonderful world of Skyrim!
@Amber: I've managed to keep all my consoles and handhelds too. Everything from the Atari to this generation. @Lina: I love Bioware's games, and Bethesda as well. They really know how to add details to the story. Not to mention the graphics are pretty good too. How many hours have you clocked for Skyrim?
@Jan: I did the same thing. I haven't played recently though as I've been busy, but I love to pop on a play a few hours when I get the chance.

I'm a gamer and have just finished Batman:Arkham City (at least the main storyline) I'm now battling through both Assasins Creed:- Revelations and Unchartered 3. Uncharted so far is proving to be the better game. Assassins seems to have lost some of what made it fun to play for me.
I love gaming too. I found it was taking too much of my time while I was taking classes so I took a break for awhile.
I used to have a Gameboy Pocket; sold it for 6 bucks sometime in middle school with my games, such a dumb decision lol. Granted it was only 4 games and Mario was the best one, but I'd beaten it twice and the other 3 games were rather boring. For some reason I can only remember Mario and Wave Race... I'd have to look at a list of gameboy games to figure out what the other 2 were.But together my husband and I have: a Gameboy Color, DS, N64, Gamecube and Xbox 360. I really want a 3DS badly; unfortunately I just don't have the money unless I forced myself not to buy anything for at least 6 months to make up for it lol. Not sure that'd be possible for me though >.<. Hubby already said he wouldn't buy me it and I'm unemployed, which is the main reason why I don't have one yet. So hopefully book sales pick up.
I don't have Skyrim, Elder Scrolls never interested me. Highest I go is an 80 hour game; Too many good games I want to play to spend time on such a long one, knowing I could finish 4 or 5 games in the same time. *shrugs* Unless it's handheld, in which I can play during every downtime in the day, but I've never come across a 100+ hour handheld game before, except for maybe Pokemon.

The hubby and I play MMOs. We've played them all. We're waiting on The Old Republic to come out this month. :) Hopefully I get my invite to the final beta today!
We have all kinds of game consoles at our house. DSi, DSi XL, ipod Touch, Wii, NookColor (with Angry Birds App on it), and PS 3. So we qualify as gamers I guess.

My brother loved both games, but I just wasn't able to get as involved. I'm totally hooked on Mass Effect instead!
@Jennifer: My boyfriend got a beta invite...hasn't even played it yet! Tempted to just steal his computer and play myself. @Zi: I don't blame you really for not wanting to spend tons of time on a game. To be honest I really never thought I would be willing to spend 96 hours on Oblivion...but well...yeah. Skyrim is way bigger so I'll be honest and say that the thought of spening over 100 hours on a game without doing storyline scares me. I do sneak in other games while I play though. I beat Revelations during Skyrim downtime.
@Gem: I agree, Revelations has lost something. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't excited to play it half the time. Also not sure if you've done any but the Desmond sequences made me want to scream. I'm still going to get the next one because I just have to know what happens.
Michelle - You should! lol I've been having fun being a Sith. Pretty fun game if it can keep it up. The last few MMOs for us have fizzled out a few months in with the repetition.
I love video games. I play World of Warcraft regularly, as a break from writing. Whenever I have trouble with a plot, or I'm tired, I logon and kill a few horde or do a raid. My main tune is a druid healer/boomkin. I also play a warlock a lot.I also love Oblivion and Skyrim.

@Michelle: Bioware and Bethesda know their stuff, that's for sure! I don't know really, but I guess around 20 or so.. Haven't been all that active since I've got an essay due in a couple of weeks taking up most of my time. :p@Bridget: Dragon Age really is worth the time it takes to finish it! I've never experienced a game where the story captured me the way Dragon Age did. I was devastated for three days after finishing it, partly because it was over, but also because of how it ended. I actually cried, heh...
The Assassin's Creed series has eaten up a lot of my time. I love being able to explore every nook and cranny of historic cities or climb the buildings. Being able to train your own acolytes and turn them loose on targets is pretty cool too...
@AG: I completely agree. I love being able to run around the cities in those time periods. It may not be exactly how it was but I still find it fascinating. I think I climbed everything that was important just so I could see all of it. Also I'm really partial to the whole storyline, it's so out there that I'm hooked.@Lina: Ah,life does get in the way sometimes lol. I loved Dragon Age as well. Mass Effect was wonderful too but I think I paid more attention to the little extras in Dragon Age.
Anyone here actually read the books/scrolls that the games has? Like in Oblivion and Skyrim, or Dragon age? I do and it drives my boyfriend crazy, he doesn't get it.
Ah, Skyrim. I foolishly bought the new Call of Duty instead. I really wish I had stopped to think that one out. The new COD is pretty much like all the others, run twenty feet and then get shot by someone who plays all day and makes money off of his youtube channel. I'm like the guy on the original Star Trek with a red shirt and no character name.Maybe I'll drop some hints for Christmas...
HA! Poor red shirts...I'm not fond of COD really. I enjoyed World at War, and was surprisingly good at it. But all the others I'm simply terrible, plus I tend to hate the people I end up matched with. They all sound 12 and cuss like their mom isn't home, lol.

You aren't quite so over matched by those that play all day. You are able to find more casual player games and you get a wide variety of maps to play on depending on your mood.

It's odd sense this is exactly the style of game I usually enjoy. My brother loved it and has played both of them. Instead, I got hooked on Mass Effect, which is usually something more his style. I'm hoping once I get Mass Effect out of my system, I can return to Dragon Age and give it another try.

I'm terrible, and I always get lumped with all the other cannon fodder against a team of prestige heros.

i liked the new fallout games (3 and new vegas) i would like if there would emerge a bigger industry with books, comics and tv series with this theme.
I gave up on my PS2 years ago cos, for one, the games take too long, two, I stay up all night feeding my video-ddiction, and three, I'm not that good at winning any game. So I sold my PS2 and the games feeling it was the right thing to do. I haven't held a joystick in 5 years. (And what "joy", pray tell, is in a "Joystick"?)
You're just feeling the anger and resentment of having gotten a divorce from your video game system. Eventually you'll take up with another one and look back on those days of the broken relationship with fondness.
There may be a monstrous television in my near future. I'm looking forward to getting reacquainted with my video games.
Right now I am playing Borderlands: Special Edition as a prep to Borderlands 2.

I like RPG games, but I prefer to play games on my computer. My husband and I own practically every system there is because he is a big gamer, but he seems to favor the PS3. We usually only use the Wii when friends or family come over...

Thanks for making a folder :). This seems to be a common pattern; readers who game like RPGs best. Not always of course. I like almost every type of game, though shoot-em-ups and pointless party games like Wario rank on the bottom. Oh and first-person dungeon crawlers, not a fan of those.I find it funny how earlier in this thread I mentioned not wanting a Wii. Last week, I found out I won one in a giveaway with Mario Kart. And now I'm actually looking forward to it. It's a nice holiday surprise. Hasn't arrived yet though.
I can understand that, about the Wii. It's not something I'd go out of my way to buy but I do really enjoy it and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's really great for party/group games, you end up laughing more the playing.

My brother then told me about Fallen Earth. Very similar to Fallout and it is an online free to play game now. Might be something you'd like to check out.
I'm a gamer, always have been. It's as much a part of me as writing and reading. I thirst for involved storylines and playing within those created worlds. Besides that, they're just plain fun! I don't play MMO's though, since I hate the subscription system to play them. However there is one FREE MMO I'm excited to play, since they're the first company saying that their microtransactions will not give any players an advantage over those who don't buy them. It's called FireFall and looks really good.
