Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) I have The Haunting of Hill House from the Stephen King Horror Library, have had it for years but never got around to reading it. Yet another one I need to read soon :)

This is one of my favourite stories. The first time I read it was from Readers Digest Condensed Books. Since then, I've listened to the unabridged audiobook and seen both movies - the one from the 60's, and the remake with Liam Neeson.

I just learned that a series for Netflix is in the works.

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments It said that they are planning 10 episodes! I'm really curious and I'm hoping it's released in Canada.

Larissa | 270 comments My first was We Have Always Lived in the Castle and I was just so happy it was as weird as it was in subject, character, and craft. If "The Lottery" is a particularly wicked amuse-bouche, then WHALITC is a multi-course, devilish, midnight feast.

My second was Hangsaman and I could see in it the same unsettling SJ aura that coiled between the words.

While I am interested in her memoirs, and until today I hadn't heard of The Sundial, I think my next SJ novel will be The Haunting of Hill House. I don't want to gorge too quickly--better to savor and let them simmer or even to ferment in my psyche.

Bon appetit!

Wow, just now trying to catch up, but things are still really crazy in my life, so forgive me for not popping in a replying as often as I should be doing!

And, yep, I've seen both Haunting of Hill House movies, too!

I wanna see that Netflix show... but alas, we will have to wait til it comes out on DVD! *sad face*

We read We Have Always Lived in the Castle for a recent group read, in what I think is the best group on GR (well aside from mine... okay, admit it... it's better than this one!). Folks said they are making it into a movie! Yay!

And I love all Shirley Jacksons's stuff y'all.
