Please let us know if you're reading, planning to read, or have read Spin by Robert Charles Wilson, and any initial impressions.

No spoilers in this thread please!

Helen I have this ready on my kindle, I'm looking forward to it.

Laurel I very much enjoyed this book! I loved the Science behind the phenomena (that is all I will say for risk of spoilers).

I found the characters to be extremely well developed and hope to read more about them in the rest of the trilogy. In my opinion, the Hugo win was well deserved!

Jim Mcclanahan (clovis-man) | 485 comments Finished reading this not long ago. An excellent tale. More in the spoiler section.

Maggie K | 298 comments I started this, am about a third through. So far quite interesting!

I read this several years ago for another book club and quite liked it! I'll have to skim my copy to refresh my memory for the discussion.

Jon (jonmoss) As soon as I find where I hid (er, shelved) this paperback, I'll start reading it. I should have read this years ago. I'm looking forward to reading and discussing it.

Korye Nelson | 5 comments I actually finished reading this for the first time a couple weeks back. I've been wanting to read this for a while so I jumped the gun. REALLY enjoyed it. Hope everyone else does too! :_

I read this the last time the group discussed it and really liked it, also read the sequel. Now that there is another book, I might have to reread all 3. We'll see.

Christine | 638 comments What is the title of the second book? I guess I didn't know this was a trilogy (and really liked Spin)

The second book is Axis, and the third one is Vortex. (I'll set up a thread for discussion of these novels - let's not talk about them here.)

Anyway, as for me, I read Spin way back when it came out and have reread it a few times since then. I love it and consider it one of the better pure SF novels of the last decade or so. I'll set up some topics later.

Helen Off topic- How come name bars have comments on this thread and Honor but not all other book threads? Is it something that GR have done or Mods? This seems to get good starage

I think it picks up when we create the thread and link the book in the entire thread. At the top, it shows up as "This topic is about ___"

Yep, it's relatively new at GoodReads. I can't get it to work with every book either - if the book doesn't show up in the first dozen or so search results, there's no way to scroll down to the next batch. Still, it's nice when it works.

Okay, back to topic now! :)

Nikita (nikita42) I've read this book about 6 months ago and really enjoyed it. I'll have to refresh my memory before jumping into the discussion thread.

Bill (kernos) | 334 comments I am planning on reading it, if I can find it in my stacks of TBRs.

Jon (jonmoss) I found my copy in my library waiting for me on a book shelf this morning. I will crack it open this afternoon.

Banner | 46 comments I finished this in Aug 11. You are in for a treat. I gave it 5 stars.

Won't be reading this after all since I lent it and the sequel to my dad... and also discovered I don't own the 3rd book. So my reread will have to wait till I acquire my 2 books back and buy the 3rd. But I'll be following the discussion based on my earlier read of this book.

Richard (thinkingbluecountingtwo) | 155 comments Managed to clear the decks of last months promised reads and am now rubbing my hands together with glee at the thought of starting this one. I don't know how I've missed it up to now and hope I find it as good as many people here have.

Helen I started today and have zoomed through about a fifth, it's an interesting idea.

Banner | 46 comments A comment that I've heard a lot about this book is the superior character development. I found that to be the case. You get attached to the three main characters right away.

message 24: by Jon (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jon (jonmoss) I'm two hundred pages into the story and really enjoying it. I agree with Banner that the character development is far superior to what I normally wince through in a scifi novel.

I just started this. The writing style is easy to jump into (some books just need a period of adjustment...not so with this one). I like the premise. I haven't read a lot of sci-fi so I'm glad to expand my horizons...hehe
