What book have you read this year that you would recommend to others?

Washington, a life by Ron Chernow. Every American should know what he did for us.
Two of my favorite books read in 2011 also have a PA connection. Both are non-fiction. The Paris of Appalachia by Brian O'Neill is about the Pittsburgh region. Plum Brandy by Josip Novakovich is a series of essays about his experiences in the US and Croatia. I believe that Novakovich teaches at Penn State.
