It has struck me, faithful Hogwartians, that there has been a lack of news circulating! The last issues of the Daily Prophet must have been halted in print, or perhaps the owls were a bit delayed in the arrival of the paper. In any case, here is the update page for the group--belatedly arrived, but still here all the same. These are clippings from the Hogwarts-related section of the Daily Prophet, located on page five, section 4-A

Hogsmeade Roleplays Now Open, says Headmistress

Prudence Verry

In a recent analysis of Repello Muggletum, it has come to this reporter's attention that a new area of roleplay has been set up--a roleplay set in the all-wizard city of Hogsmeade.

In an interview in her office last night, Headmistress Magdalena Nightingale revealed, "...a dear student, Vanster, has suggested to me that I allow students to visit Hogsmeade... [O]f course I agreed, it was a lovely idea."

It seems that the shops of Honeydukes, the Hog's Head Inn, Zonko's Joke Shop, and, of course, the ever-popular Three Broomsticks have opened up, with more to come soon. Dear reader, I urge you to visit this site, as it contains the potential for much fun in the roleplays to come.

Hogsmeade Visits Have Restrictions, Clarifies Headmistress

Albert Wortcroft

A new clarification on the rules has been stated by the Headmistress of Hogwarts, Magdalena Nightingale. "...yes, only third years and up may visit Hogsmeade. It has been a school rule for a long, long time, and I'm not about to change that," she said in an interview yesterday afternoon, sitting for tea near the Quidditch Pitch. Incidentally, Quidditch season is open at Hogwarts, and any visiting witches and wizards are welcome to watch a match of this exciting magical game.

For all those not familiar with Hogwarts School Rules, Hogsmeade has been open to third years and older for centuries:

"Ever since Hogsmeade visits were allowed to the young witches and wizards," stated Nightingale, "there has been this restriction, for two main reasons. The most obvious would be that, given the second and first years' ages, they might not be able to get to town and back without adult supervision, especially on those particularly snowy, blustery days when all the students and teachers alike are huddled for warmth in the Three Broomsticks. The second reason being that the visits are a reward, and may be revoked. If they were granted from the moment the students arrived in first year, what would there be to gain?"

Again adequately put by Headmistress Nightingale, this reporter hopes this has cleared up any confusion.

Quidditch Teams in Need of Players

Prudence Verry

As most of you readers know, Quidditch is the single most popular sport in Hogwarts (followed closely by Gobstones, though not nearly as involved), entertaining the whole student body every Saturday of the season. Matches can last for a few minutes or a few hours, with the longest Hogwarts match on record holding at thirteen hours, fifty-two minutes. Not a single student misses out on a match if they can help it, be it as a member or a fan in the stands. Though it pits House against House, Quidditch is the sport that truly brings the students and staff at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry together.

A crisis has emerged, however, much to the dismay of Hogwartians everywhere. It seems that this year, despite numerous attempts, the Hogwarts House Quidditch teams haven't got enough members to play. Remember, dear reader, seven students are needed per team to play the game, and it seems that there simply isn't enough incentive to play. So, students reading this editorial, I urge you to join your House Quidditch team, to keep this wonderful sport running. And parents, please encourage your budding young ones to play, and to extend the life of this magnificent Hogwarts--and wizarding world-wide--pasttime.

  Headmistress Makes Apology

Prudence Verry

A quote from the Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry:
"I am so very sorry. All of you. For the last couple of months, I've been neglecting my duties in all of my groups. It was lazy of me to take a huge siesta like that, but now I hope I can get back in the game. I hope to roleplay more, to get more involved. I have been slacking off on my responsibilities and have almost entirely disappeared off the face of Goodreads. So, I apologize for leaving you guys like that. I hope I can make it up by becoming more active."
This reporter isn't quite sure what the Headmistress means by "Goodreads" and "roleplay," but the headmistress is a mysterious person by nature and surely has a meaning for saying these words, a meaning obscured behind the gates of Hogwarts.
