Are You A Hunger Games Fanatic? discussion

'Not if I have a damn thing to say about it they're bloody not.' he mumbled. It wasn't a street-wise arrogance that made him assert as such, he had never claimed or perceived himself as better than any ofhis fellow tributes when his name was called out in those crystal clear faux cheerful tones, as though everyone was fooled for the briefest second as to the terrible nature of the 'honour' bestowed, it was no honour, it never was, it was a reminder, a cruel sadistic jerk of the chain to warn the districts to behave, toe the line, do what was demanded of them, and surrender their manual labour for the betterment of the Capitol.
Silas glanced down for the umpteenth time at the two unassuming faces on his datapad, the tributes for the new games, a boy and a girl from his district, District 6, transport. Whatever they had been doing to get by before, be it driving a taxi, or strapping Ted the Crash Test Dummy into his seat, or taking tickets on a bus, that life was over for them now, and they had better know it.
Ashlyn Roth, who he had nicknamed the blonder berserker, seemed capable, but her risk-taking tendency raised a few concerns. That she seemed to be an above average close quarters combatant boded well for when it came down to the scramble for survival, she wouldn't flinch when it came to using her natural gifts to get the edge over another, and though she didn't look like much, Silas knew a fighter when he saw one. The irony of a head peacekeeper’s daughter being a little firebrand was delicious, she was a rebel, she had spirit, she wouldn't hide in a hole weeping. True chances are she might survive longer that way, but if trouble did find her, it sure as hell had better be prepared because she would be, and when push came to shove her no-holds barred adaptability would serve her well. 'We have to make people like you Blondie.' Silas muttered, maybe play up the peacekeeper card, try to make her out to be a good girl who's not afraid to get her hands dirty.
Claudio Cotton on the other hand, was a rather more stable option, a safe bet some might call him. Silas had named him Captain, after the fictional superhero Captain America. Like Steve Rogers, Claudio was compassionate, but that did not make him a soft touch, when others were in danger, his heroism came to the fore. It was the sort of selflessness that firemen have, and it was the sort of self-sacrificing tripe that could get him killed. The thing about heroes, Silas had found out the hard way, was that they nearly always had leverage one could exploit, their compassion was both their strength, their most admirable quality, that which made them decent human beings, but it was also their Achilles heel.
Winning the Hunger Games did not mean you had to be soulless, a remorseless killer . It might help, but that was not the point, these were kids, not stone cold psychos. ‘Well that’s what this fuckfest is turning them into, that or worm chow.’ Both of them could do with as much training as they could get, the key was to be practical. Nobody was dumb enough to slug it out straight from the get go. They tended to grab what they needed and retreat to safety, but some would opt for the quick kill, and Roth and Cotton had to be on their guard at all times. ‘Constant vigilance.’ Silas growled in his best Moody impression, scowling for good measure. Oh the sponsors would like the Captain, Blondie needed to smile more. ‘Don’t get attached mate, ‘ it makes it worse when the inevitable happens, no it was not inevitable, it was do or die out there, and he was damn sure his two were going to be doing a hell of a lot of doing without dying.

Chance was already in the training center by the time she got there. He was looking for her but couldn’t seem to find her so he just gave up knowing that eventually they’d find each other. He went over to the knife station first, hoping he’d learn how to throw a couple of good knifes before the beasts of the capitol decide they didn’t feel like letting him live anymore. They can do that. He thought to himself. They could or will kill me he didn’t want those thoughts anymore so he just started listening to the instructors direction’s on how to get a good hold and how to aim.

Rayce walked to the first aid and began chatting with his instructor. He didnt know much about first aid or plants so he stayed in between the two, using them as reference for when he is in the games.

Rain notices Max, not saying a word, she walks to the opposite side of the targets to practice her knife throwing.

Lyra looked at Rain. She'd herd that name before but doesn't know where or when. Insted of just staring like a mad women she truns back to her knot tieing.

Tanner walks in, hands in pockets. He, with no question, hurried to running. He was only warming up at a slow sprint.

~~~~~~
Crest looked over at the mentors... Which one was- "Oh! That one on the wall..." She thought. "Should I talk to her?" She decided against it. Lilly would talk if needed.
~~~~~~
Tanner stopped after a full sprint. He put his hands on his knees, worn out.

Andre Maty walked into the training center quietly.

Amy Hasth surveyed the arena looking for her tributes. She wanted to see which of them she would pick as her favorite-which she wanted to win.

"Were have you been? I have been waiting for you two. These are mine I haven't seen them train yet all I know is that they are hard works." she said to Lilly.

He felt lost here. Not just in the Training Center, but the Capitol in general. He didn't belong.. Even thought he needed to be sure of himself. How was he gonna help these kids? He had just won on smarts, certainly not his fighting skills. But he would teach them as much as he could either way.

Crest tried a smaller lighter knife, spinning it until it fight her hand. She lunged into the throw and it hit around the head target.

Rain continued to use the natural items given to her to hid her self. She practiced on her hand for the longest time finding it soothing. She looked at all the other tributes, not searching for an enemy, but for an ally.

Crest didn't look at the career by her. She threw more knives, he aim getting better.
Tanner nods back at the person by him. "Disrtict 5." He says, while continuing to work.

MY MENTOR
Amy looked around and identified her tributes. She nodded. They'd do just fine.
TRIBUTES
Andre went to someplace he knew well-plants and grains

Amy
Since the girl tribute from 2 was busy chatting away, she approached her boy tribute. "Amy. Your mentor. You're Val, I'd assume," she said.

"Well that's lovely. I was wondering if you would like to go someplace we could talk about the games?" she asked him.

"Uh, I'm Jak. Your mentor. Nice to meet you guys." he said but made no motion to shake their hands.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyra headed over to the plant area, at that time there wasn't anyone there so she thought she could get some one-on-one time the the instructor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chance, not really knowing if he should follow Lyra or not just back to te knife station hoping to maybe meet some other tributes.

Tanner finishes with a high enough score. He thought he would meet his mentor and his district partner. Tanner follows her.

Lyra looks around, still looking for Jake. Finally she spots him, she grabs Chance's arm,"Chance, there he is. Our mentor."
"Oh great. More people to tell us what to do."
"Come on Chance, he could save our life. Lets go."
"No! I don't care if he could save the whole damn world! Hes from the caitol so therefor I don't like him. You go. I'm not"
Lyra looks at Chance, she was worried that he could ven die in the bloodbath the way hes going. Lyra walks over and looks at Jake. Here we go. she thouht and walked up to him. "Hi Jake, I'm from district 10. I'm one of your tribtues this year."

He saw the two tributes approach him and perked up a bit. "Hi, I'm uh, Jak. And you must be Lyra." He spoke quietly. He made no motion to shake her hand. "I'm sorry you guys were chosen, but the best I can do is help you get out of that arena alive. So what do you want to know?"

Chance just glared. He didn't want to be here, he didn't want to talk to him. He just didn't want to have anything to do with this thing.
((Sorry, I have to get to used to spelling Jak. So used to spelling Jake so, sorry if I mess up a few times.))

He scratched his head. "Well... there's a lot to learn...Well let's start with strengths. What are you good at? And it doesn't have to me a fighting skill. Mine wasn't." He looked around for the boy. Jak thought he spotted him when he saw a boy glaring at him and Lrya.

"LYRA! Don't you get it? I don't care! I don't care if I live or die. I alrady sai I'm done. I don't care anymore."
Tears filled Lyras eyes then she said," I'd care if you got killed. And so would your parents."
Chance looked at Lyra, even though he doesn't know her he still felt bad that she started crying. "Lyra, I don'twant you to cry. I just don't want tobe here."
"YOU THINK I DO? You think ANY OF US WANT TO?" she was yelling now, but she didn't care she wasn't happy that he was doing this. "Fine! If you want to go then go. What do I care?" And at that moment he just walked out. She din't even know if he'd come back, Then tears started filling her eyes.
