Y'know oddly enough I can't think of any right now lol, but I know a few that annoy the heck outta me, probably a few of those that tick you off as well:p

I hate the one where in superhero movies where the hero is fighting the bad guy and he's just about to kill this evil awful guy that's killed(or tired) people and then the heroe's like " I can't kill you! I'm too much of a goody-goody two shoes and the moive makers think, you who are watching, won't like me anymore if I KILL somebody! So I'm just going to let this really awful guy go with a warning so he can kill more people!" And then the villain like falls off a cliff or get's blown back into a train or something of the sort. It's so STUPID. I believe that if Ur a superhero and U really care about people, you would kill this person, yeah U may feel bad about it, but it's not about you! It's about Jusice for the people he's killed, for the people he now won't kill CUZ HE DEAD!

Yeah that's the big dilemma I always have with superheros, my favourite is Batman, and I always feel, well if you had knocked the Joker off once and for all all these people wouldn't be dead, but then 'I can't kill him because if I did it would make me no less a murderer', sigh yes Bruce I admire you high moral line, but thing i what you aim to achieve by your actions isn't going to come off nine times out of ten; you put Joker in Arkham, or Two-DFace in Blackgate, you know as sure is sure they'll only breakout!

MizziQ I agree. Stupid. In some cases you can appreiate it...but, I have no example. Hmmmm... :)

Mine is when a villain explains his WHOLE entire plan to the hero before he kills them and then gives just enough info to the hero so as the hero doesn't die or calvary comes at that precise moment. It helps to know what's going on in the story...but still. Really?

Yeah I like that in The Incredibles they gave a name to that tendency, 'monologuing', and as much as I know the good guys will almost always win the day, I just wich they wouldn't do it so darn easily. Case in point; Star wars, when the clones are on the good side they are wonderful shots and great soldiers, but once they're the bad guys they are a bunch of incompetents who 'can't see outta their frickin' helmets that were created to improve vision and overall battle prowess, hello??

Take the Captain America movie recently, and any film with good or bad for that matter, the bad guys never really have any chance of winning so you just sit through hours of cgi and plot holes and dumb science for what?, for the ride I guess lol

Alli Cat of Night | 30 comments Mod
I feel ya'll pain. Why? Why sit there and tell Us your plan? I mean U have the only people in the world that can stop you in your hands! Right there! It's like they wanna be stopped. Also what is with action moives??? I mean most of these people in it are like from the Gov, or have been trained to kill, so why can't they aim? I mean really. Do they even try?
I just can't stand superhero moives. Plot hole after plot hole. I do like transformers, but then I don't go into it thinking "Oh I can't wait to see this awesome story!" Nope. I watch these moive cuz I wanna see huge robots beat the crap out of each other. Cuz let's face it, it looks amazing.

message 8: by MizziQ (new)

MizziQ *snort* I adore superheroe movies and stories but that does not exclude the fact that I can't stand the holes most of the time. Lol. :)

I do enjoy a good superheore moive, I just love making fun of it too.

I too love a good superhero yarn as much as the next person, and although we tend to know what's going to happen before it happens, it's all in the how it gets there I guess. I mean thay couldn't make a movie where the baddiew win, what message would that give out?!
Of the more recent superhero films, I'd recommend Chronicle, it's not a conventional superhero flick, indeed it's not about superheroes, which makes it unique. If you like films like Cloverfield and Jumper this may do it for you.

message 11: by MizziQ (new)

MizziQ I really loved Jumper...If we're talking about the same movie. Don't know Cloverfield. I like someone who takes a common idea and twists it but even though letting the "bad guy" win is "different" it's so not fun. :) So like you said...it's all in how they get there. I just watched The Avenger (Seems as though everybody has) and that was totally predictable but the characters that were in it I love and it the writers were having fun. :)

I think we are, the film about teleportation staring Anakin Skywalker:p which was based on a book:)Loved it because I've always wanted teleportation abilities lol
Read the book after watching the movie, it make him more of a vigilante than the movie, but still worth a read. Cloverfield is a 'found footage' movie, one of those like Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity and Rec which people either love or hate because it's mostly told through a shaky handheld camera, home video style. Cloverfield is essentially a 'what it would have been like if there was someone filming their city being plagued by some unknown destructive force.

Personally I think Iron Man and the Hulk to a lesser extent saved the Avengers from being an OK movie. Sorry but Captain America is a whiny boy scout do gooder, predictable nancy, Widow looks marginally pretty and does some minor stuff, Thor was pretty weak, and Fury lacked fury, more of a poseur than anything useful. As ever there was zero explanation about the bad guys, the Chitauri and what they were like or what they wanted, and the attack, when it came was predictable, complete with self-doubt and martial arts. Good movie visually, but weak otherwise, but as you say it was a fun watch:)

message 13: by MizziQ (new)

MizziQ Lol. Yha. I like heroes but I'm more for a little bit modern less classy comic book type fan. Probably cuz' I'm younger. But anyways, it's hard for me to get into the old comic book superheroes but I try. Every now and then they'll come out with a movie or a TV show that puts a more in-depth backstory which I love. I agree that Captain America isn't so amazing but I still can't help him being my favorite. Not sure why. I liked his movie I guess(the most recent one). I haven't seen Thor or any of the others. So I was pretty confused. Lol. :)

I have yet to see the Avengers but I have seen all the other moives. And I HATED Captain America. It was so boring to me. The plot was just too black and white. And may I just ask, who the hell would jump on a grenade?! Who, in the seconds U have to think about it, would go "I'm going to jump on the grenade get my self blown to bit for no reason cuz everybody else with a brain has ran away. And is it really going to help anybody? NO IT'S NOT CUZ IT'S A FREAKING HAND GRENADE!" Ahem. I have a thing about Captain America. Maybe cuz one of my favortie Actors got KILLED OFF in the first 30 minutes! *breathes* I am calm.

I quite agree Alli, Captain America, as the name suggests is pretty much a corny, cliche-pregnant pro-American BS movie:p If you take the dumb heroism out of the picture, it was pretty watcheable, but well why can';t things be as easy as that in real life? If finding Bin Laden was a Hollywood movie, they;'d find him within the hour:p I love heroism me, but it has to be smart, dumb heroism is often the staple Hollywood stuff that has a good guy, usually an American newbie, either beating up a legion of bad guys single-handedly, or they are the surprising champion of another people or race, see Avatar, The Last Samurai, Ninja and such movies for the 'white man represents your cultural values better than you do yourself' genre.

I always get a kick out of your post Woolfie, here I am talking about the fact that he's a moron for jumping on a bomb (Really! Who's that going to help!? U think by blocking it it's not going to BLOW UP!?) And U bring in this deep meaningful Discussion about heroism. :D I love it. But honestly I don't really enjoy heroism, mostly just cuz that they always do it so poorly. Like you said in the US it's all about how "We're Americans! We are the kings! We're a ton of totally selfish jerks that kicked the american indians off they're own land! Quick someone sing 'america the beautiful' while I go get fat off a cheeseburger" ok well not like that but you get my point. Why are we always the good guys? We're not let me tell ya. America has done some super crappy stuff to other people. Like in 1854 when Matthew C. Perry went over to Japan and MADE them open trade. He told them they either open trade or he was going to start a war. Japan was not in a good place at the time and couldn't fight back. That's was awful of us. They were happy to stay closed to the world and we had the GALL to tell them "You're going to trade with us or we're going to kick your ass!" And that's something I just can't stand. What I would love to see is a moive about 2 sides of a war and how to each side the other is evil. I would love to see somebody look at it that way. But that's just me. Also I'm glad a made somebody laugh Kara.

Deep? Meaningful? I think you have me mistaken with someone who writes like me and from time to time hacks my account and posts stuff:p What always gets me about films of the kind you're talking about is how seamlessly the American always slithers into the role of suave, loud mouthed, Idon'tcarewhattherestofthefuckingwrldsaysImakickyourass person man thing blamblamblam!! The world is, apparently, much simpler in movies, and as it's a story, truth and realiy have no place in it whatsoever, unless you're watching a biopic, which by definition has to be true:p
Have you watched Inglourious Basterds? Farcical Jewish WW2 revenge fantasy ass-kissing bull, and the best acting, in my opinion, was done by an Austrian playing 'The Jew Hunter':p Brad Pitt must have lowered his IQ by several points to pass as the moronic Lieutenant Aldo 'The Apache' Rain, now there's irony for you:p
I agree, in reality there is no such thing as black and whitye, there are perspectives, things some people see as evil, are in the view of others justifiable extremes, so why not communicate that in film? Are they afraid that if Hitler starts making sense that there'll be a fourth reich? News flash, there already is a fourth reich, they're just not bothered enough to do anything about it (the only country in the Middle East with Nuclear capability notwithstanding, hmm)

Alli Cat of Night | 30 comments Mod
I have not seen Inglourious Basterds. And Brad Pitt never had the highest IQ in my book. :P Oh and I'm glad you liked my idea. I need to become a director. I would love to see a moive where the "American Hero!" get's knocked down a few pegs. Maybe get's punched in the face a few times? I'm so mean. :D
