It's been a blast.
Are you and Ginn going to stay present on GR after this is over?"
Why sure! There's the Irregulars threads over on Josh's groups. We'll certainly be there. And we'll be other places too.

I'm not saying goodbye yet... I mean the print versions haven't come out yet... and then there's...uhm the illustrated versions ... and the scratch and sniff Rifter... ooooh goat-arific!
Ginn wrote: "I'm not saying goodbye yet... I mean the print versions haven't come out yet... and then there's...uhm the illustrated versions ... and the scratch and sniff Rifter... ooooh goat-arific!"@.@ Muhahaha....the sweet, sweet smell of goat.
D: And don't joke about an illustrated version! A Rifter graphic novel would be the most beautiful thing I ever saw! That ranks right up there with THE RIFTER: THE MOVIE.

But can you imagine how long it would take to DRAW the entire Rifter? (Well you're an artist, so I'm sure you can.) Talk about hand cramps!
Lisa wrote: "@Em-nat: a movie would be fantastic!"It's a great idea-- but why won't Peter Jackson answer my phone calls! :D
Ginn wrote: "It's a great idea-- but why won't Peter Jackson answer my phone calls! :D"Peter's busy with that new Hobbit flick. We'll ask Tarsem Singh to do it.

Whoo! \0/ It begins!
Em-nat wrote: "We'll ask Tarsem Singh to do it."
You know... I have this weird idea that Tarsem Singh might actually enjoy doing a movie like that.

Oooohhh. Everybody would look so good and color-saturated!
Em-nat wrote: "Lense Filters! Everything is more edgy with lenses filters!"I gotta get me some of those!
I've just realized that tomorrow I'll get the last book and I won't feel like reading it, indepentently from the fact that i should work...Nicole is excited and a little sad, I'm sad and a little excited.
It's gonna be alright, Antonella! You finish it, then you just read it all the way through again! \o/

Em-nat is right.
I did write the book so that it made much more sense the second time through... at least I hope so!
Eugenie wrote: "Oh my lazy-goat-who-pulls-the-sun-around-the-earth! Why isn't it Tuesday yet?"Soon, soon!

ADVENTURE (flies away)!
Ginn wrote:"I did write the book so that it made much more sense the second time through... at least I hope so!"It's starting to look like we're all going to need a support group for the end of this thing...@.@
Every month I think "what time do we get it??" ... It 8pm here in Aus now.... It must be almost Tuesday in USA now ... Surely :-)

Locked and loaded!! Now I just have to get my pesky work day done and dusted! Thanks so much for naming us - what a kick that is!! And THANK YOU for such a great literary trip! ..... Could the final cover be any scarier?? Awesome!!!
Barb wrote: "Locked and loaded!! Now I just have to get my pesky work day done and dusted! Thanks so much for naming us - what a kick that is!! And THANK YOU for such a great literary trip! ..... Could the fina..."Ohmuhgah I'm going to be late for work! Ah! (I flee!)
((still no spoilers!))Obviously I did start book 10.
And just when I arrived in the middle of chapter 102 I had to go out! In fact I *wanted* to go to a very interesting conference of a sociology professor. But I kept thinking of the story.
Well, little piece of advice: if you are around page 80, see that you get enough time to recover... At the same time I have to say once more that Ginn is a genius, never going for the obvious.

Yes! And at the same time, what happens is exactly what Jath'ibaye said happened way back in Book Six. Sheer storytelling genius.

Nicole wrote: "And at the same time, what happens is exactly what Jath'ibaye said happened way back in Book Six. Sheer storytelling genius."Of course you are right. These are probably the little bits that surface properly only by rereading. Because the first time one just refuses to believe what's written there ;-).
Antonella wrote: "These are probably the little bits that surface properly only by rereading."
Once the whole book is over a reread is a real pleasure, because those bits become very obvious, after having been so hidden before. It's cool.

Barb wrote: "...Could the final cover be any scarier?? Awesome!!! "I was presented with two choices for the final cover and I have to say I went for the dramatic one.
(The other was much more subtle: skulls overshadowed by young leaves. But I really like the drama of this cover.)
Lisa wrote: "The dedication was so nice, Ginn! I'm not done yet. I'm about half way done. I will finish it tomorrow. I can't believe how much I missed the first time reading it through."I really wanted to thank you all for both taking a chance of a huge, weird serial novel and also for making the entire enterprise a pleasure for me!
You're the best readers that any author could have the good fortune to find!
Lisa wrote: "Is there going to be a map included in the print version? "Yes! More than one, I think.
D: I've never been in a book dedication before! My heart melts, as do my eyes. I love you so much right now <3
Antonella wrote: "Well, little piece of advice: if you are around page 80, see that you get enough time to recover..."I know, right? I honestly didn't even have an inkling. I felt the beginnings of an anxiety attack there! Also, I am going to furtherly wussify myself by admitting I found a reason to cry...about every 20 pages. IT WAS AWESOME! XD
Ginn-- your book is so beautiful and terrifying and wonderful. Stepping away from the plot (for the sake of those that have not yet completed the book), there were powerful images evoked in your writing that really stuck with me. It's the sort of stuff I wish I had the ability to translate from my mind to paper and the reason I love illustration so much. Trying to capture that image in my head...really, wonderful stuff! AHG!
Oh, yes: with all the excitement I forgot to thank Ginn for the dedication! And you put all the names there, instead of making a general dedication to the GR people: that was very kind of you!
I decided to finish the book because there was no way I could work properly with some 50 pages left.Wow!
As I read I was aware of the fact that differently from the majority of other books there were never bits one feels unnecessary or not written as good as the rest. And we are talking of over 1000 pages here!
So once more I have to congratulate Ginn on her work and on the fact that she is not publishing one book every couple of months, but she works on her stories till they are perfect and unforgettable.
Thank you so much!
I'm not reading any comments *blindfolds self* until I've read Part X. Started this morning...so excited (and nervous). And thank you Ginn for the shout-out!
Antonella wrote: "Oh, yes: with all the excitement I forgot to thank Ginn for the dedication! My only fear was that I'd miss or misspell someone's name.

Geez, I'm kind of flustered to be so flattered, but I'm also really happy that you enjoyed the entire book! Knowing that makes all the work feel worth it.
Thank you.

(I hope you enjoy book Ten!)

Even though they were both light-hearted, the line work and composition were highly expressive. It's not every drawing that seems so alive with energy and motion, you know.
Ginn wrote: "Geez, I'm kind of flustered to be so flattered, but I'm also really happy that you enjoyed the entire book! Knowing that makes all the work feel worth it.Thank you."
Well, it's not flattering but stating the truth.
And - as I just wrote on Josh Lanyon's thread -I did find a drawback ;-): after having read ''The Rifter'' everything else, apart from a few selected authors, pales in comparison.
I got to do my happeh dance twice yesterday; first for the magnet, then had to run downstairs to show my huz the dedication "that'sME!!!" cheers to Ginn, Weightless, and everyone here!
I thought I was going to have to slow read this book, but I'm enthralled...I'm in the midst of the aftermath-damn, Ginn you're good!
