Johanna | 766 comments This is Your Life Challenge 5/11 done

1. I was born in the year 1984, so I will read the book 1984 or a book published that year, perhaps The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

2. In my early years as a small child I used to play a lot outside with the kids of my neighborhood. Most of them was boys and I became quite a tomboy I guess. One of the best things to do together was to play war. For that I will read The Hunger Games.

3. As a child in school age I learned to read and I read quiet a lot of Nancy Drews and Famous Fives. For this category I will read an adventure or mystery book, perhaps Treasure Island.

4. For my teen years I will read a young adult book, for I was a teen just like everyone else, or I will read a book about basketball if I can find one since I played it for about 8-9 years.(Catching Fire)

5. For the time from teen years to adulthood I will read a contemporary book/chick lit for that was the time of letting go of my tomboyishness little by little (though never all of it!) (Water for Elephants)

6. The time I started to work for the first time..something about that!

7. I found reading again, it started with fantasy and magic so I will read a book with those elements. (A Game of Thrones?)

8. In the year 2010 I graduated and became an occupational therapist, I read a book published that year: Before I Fall.

9. I started working as an ot, working with people that had suffered a stroke, for that I will read Left Neglected.

10. Soon I ended up working in the field of psychiatry. So I will read The Bell Jar or The Yellow Wallpaper and Other Stories.

11. And since I absolutely love dragons I will read Firelight or Inheritance or most likely both!

Johanna | 766 comments Book-to-movie Challenge 5/15

Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen Dear John by Nicholas Sparks The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket The Woman in Black A Ghost Story by Susan Hill Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

I will try to do 15. The only rule is: no old classics, at least not the sort where the movie is also old. Like Gone with the Wind. I will try to find the sort of books that I did not know where out there even I have seen the movie. Preferably no young adult series, only because I will read those anyway. So this is for me to find something different!

Johanna | 766 comments Short stories & Novellas etc.

I will start a challenge like this because I have kindle on my computer and phone and I think I will read some short stories on it. The free kinds!

Sex With A Lingering Kiss by Alexis Shore 1. Alexis Shore - Sex with a Lingering Kiss 3/5.

This is my first erotic read, but I thought I´d give it a chance. It was a lot nicer than I had thought it would be. It wasn´t too naughty for me. The way it was written was interesting, letters found in a home, of the previous owners.

The Way Life Was Forever by Carey Corp 2. Carey Corp - The Way Life Was Forever 4/5.

From the very beginning I was intrigued by this story and the world of it with it's moonwalkers and sun-dwellers. I really liked it and I would have gladly read more about it!

It did feel a bit rushed, especially the ending. I had to turn back pages because I thought I had skipped a part. Also their bonding was too fast. But it was a short story so I don't mind that much.

As an entire book this story would in my opinion have great potential the characters would have more into them and the events would get more thrill and excitement in them.

A Wedding Story by Dee Tenorio 3. Dee Tenorio - A Wedding Story 3/5

Quite a basic love story. It was fun enough and even the plot seemed pretty basic there was somehow more believability to it than I would have thought it to have. This one did not go too fast from one thing to another, or if it did, it was explained by the characters history. At least enough for me.

Cajun Hot by Nikita Black Nikita Black - Cajun Hot 1/5

Another erotica. And maybe too much this time, it was not my cup of tea. I didn´t believe the story at all. Then again it took so long for me to finish this, that I don´t think I got a good idea about the whole thing. I only read little bits here and there.

I had to delete all these from my bookshelves on goodreads because it kept counting them as books read on my GR Challenge, but at least I have them here.

Johanna | 766 comments Monthly Mini Challenges

February: It's a Love/Hate Thing Mini Challenge:

1. When the Silver Screen is Tarnished:
I read Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

2. No Way, No How!:
I like triangles in books! The love kinds! When the girl has two guys she doesn´t really now how to choose.. but I would not want to be that girl! :)

3. Nobody Loves Me: Literary villain I love to hate must be from Harry Potter -> Snape. He is just so wonderfully annoying, even after reading ALL the Potter books, I just love to hate him, no matter what :)

4. If It Ain't Broke...:
I read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks .

March Midterm Mania Mini Challenge: 4/4

You don't even need to read a book to get top marks in this challenge, so hopefully we see lots of participants!

1. Classical Literature with Prof. Rita Booke: I think that Hunger Games will still be loved long from now, but I´m quite sure that Lord of the Rings at least will be a classic still after 100 years from now. It has already lasted a long time but I believe it will continue to be read by people of all ages.

2. Sociology 101 with Prof. B. Friendly: I read Shiver.

3. Child Psychology with Prof. U. R. A. Kidd: I read Northern Lights.

4. Nutrition with Prof. I. M. Hungree: I read The Hunger Games.

Categories:
Valedictorian: 4 complete My goal
PhD: 3 complete
Masters: 2 complete
Bachelors: 1 complete

April Showers Make May Flowers: 3/4

Rain showers may cloud our day but soon after flowers are on their way!

1. Rainy Day Blues: Read a feel-good book or tell us about a book you've read in the past that made you feel good when you were feeling bad.

2. Lightning Strike: I read Shiver Trilogy Boxset. In this series many of the characters have to grow as persons, especially Cole, I think. He starts out as someone not really caring about anything or anyone but turns out as a very important person for the story..

3. Everything's Coming Up Roses: I read Water for Elephants.

4. Daisy Chain: I read Linger.

Rules:
1. You can combine reading with the alternate option.
2. Rereads/challenge combining/any book format is fine.
3. You can keep track in your member section, but please post here as well so we can all see your answers!

The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events, #1) by Lemony Snicket Northern Lights (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater Forever (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater

Plan:
- The Hunger Games (1-3)
- Trylle Trilogy (1-3)
- The Wolves of Mercy Falls (1-3)
- Uglies (1-4)
- Nightshade (1-3)
- Firelight (1-3)
- Fifty Shades (1-3)
- Wicked Lovely (1-5)
- Vampire Academy (1-6)

The plan will most likely change at some point.. :) At least if I read the first of a series and decide not the read more of it. But we´ll see. And I might not be able to get my hands on all of these so, who knows what´ll happen with this challenge.
