The Hollows series by Kim Harrison is great! It's about witches, vampires, werewolves and pixies. Highly recommended. Also the Dresden books by Jim Butcher. He's a wizard. Also outstanding!
If you're looking for something with not a lot of sex, there is the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn. I had some issues with how submissive Kitty is in the first book (and there is some questionable sex in the first book as a result) but in the rest of the series she really comes into her own and becomes a strong character with a solid relationship with her mate.Another shifter series I really like, that also has a pretty good mystery/police procedural edge to it, is Eileen Wilks' World of the Lupi.
If he wants to try something besides weres, I highly recommend Rob Thurman's Cal Leandros series. And I would definitely second the recommendation for Jim Butcher's Dresden files. And he might get a kick out of Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles or K.A. Stewart's Jesse James Dawson series. These last four all have male leads that he might like.
Sadly I've read no young adult books that I could recommend.
S. P. Somtow's "Moon Dance" - A werewolf western novel.Whitley Strieber's "The Wild" - Probably for the more mature reader because it focuses on family and relationships, not a werewolf novel directly, but a great man turning into wolf story. Also "The Wolfen" by the same author (another not quiet werewolf novel, but about intelligent wolves hunting in the suburbs).
Lori Handeland's "Blue Moon". It's a romance, so a bit on the sexually explicit side, but great fun to read.
Less graphical but also Romance: Rebecca York's moon series.
"The wolf's hour" by Robert R. McCammon, a world war II werewolf spy novel.
"Wolfsbane and Mistletoe" from ACE books (ed. Charlaine Harris), "Tomorrow Bites" (ed. Greg Cox) from Baen and "Werwolves" (ed. Martin H. Greenberg) from DAW, "The Ultimate Werewolf" from Byron Preiss Books and "The Mammoth book of wolf men" (ed. Stephen Jones) are good story collections.
If he likes the "Underworld" movies I would also recommend Greg Cox's novelizations.
And naturally Tanya Huff's "Blood Trail", part of the Victoria Nelson series but can be read as stand alone.
I second the Rachel Vincent Shifters series:
Nothing too explicit in these (some violence). I really enjoyed these series.
I like Kelley Armstrong, starting with Bitten, in the Women of the Otherworld series. However, he may enjoy Men of the Otherworld, an anthology. Another one he could try L.A. Banks "Crimson Moon" series. This starts with Bad Blood.
For a 14 year old, I would definately second the Shifters by Rachel Vincent. The Walker Papers by CE Murphy are about a coyote shifter and they are really good. Also the Cal Leandros books would be an appropriate UF read, the author, Rob Thurman, also has a few other series that might interest him. Also, he might be interested in the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher. My 14 year old son loved those, and I enjoyed them as well. I would not recommend Sherrilyn Kenyon, as the sex scenes are a bit descriptive. It has just gotten really hard lately to find Werewolf books that are not all alpha male finding a mate sex books.

Try Long Time Listener, First Time Werewolf by Carrie Vaughn -- it is a three book series (Kitty & the Midnight Hour, Kitty Goes to Washington, and Kitty Takes a Holiday). I really enjoyed the series, and it is fairly pg....unlike some werewolf series...
I would like to introduce the first book in a new series http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18... There is a novella also out that is set during the events of the first book called Mine.

I am one of the Authors, and we are looking for help with reviews. So if you do read it please leave a rating or Review, it would be appreciated.

ORLY?
However, I would add SM Reine's Six Moon Summer. It's a good read and it has the added benefit of book one being free. :)
Kitty Norville Series!!! By Carrie Vaughn Great Werewolf series....there are many books and all are equally awesome!!!Also Molly Harper has a werewolf series that is very enjoyable!! Starting with How to flirt with a naked werewolf...the titles sound adult...but there not dirty...its a light funny read....Merry Christmas!!

I also think there were only one or two books in the Hallows series that really featured werewolves. Both great contemporary fantasy series, but if your son is only interested in werewolves he may be disappointed.
If your son is intersted in some old-school (1970's), there was a book by Poul Anderson called Operation Chaos about a werewolf and his witch wife. I believe there was one sequel to the original book called Operation Luna although I have not read that one.
