I recently finished Rock and Roll Cage Match: Music's Greatest Rivalries, Decided. As the title suggests, music critics take it upon themselves to decide who's better. Prince or Michael Jackson? Whitney or Mariah? Zeppelin or Sabbath?

The book's a lot of fun. The Zep vs Sabbath debate is top-notch; the funniest debate may be the match between Simon and Garfunkel vs Hall and Oates! If you expect reverential treatment of some of your musical heroes, pick up a copy of Rolling Stone instead; even Bob Marley gets the piss taken out of him. Good naturedly, of course.

One beef I have is they missed out on some really good feuds/matches. Just off the top of my head, I would have loved to read a matchup between Tupac vs Biggie, Mick vs Keith (as in, who means more to the Stones), Ramones vs the Pistols, etc.

Good read, do pick up a copy.

I immediately put it on the list.

Unfortunately, the list currently sits at around 30K volumes, so god knows when I'll get to it, but it's written down, so I won't forget about it (and my library has it in stock!).
