We thought Jane was an android and then she just popped out of nowhere.

I think you were supposed to be confused by the ending : ) It definitely left me waiting for the next book. It wasn't entirely surprising when some of the kids trying to escape turned out to be androids, but the very end was totally unexpected.
Taylor wrote: "So the ending was crap. It sucked. Beyond belief. I don't even understand!!! But it was good :D"I overall enjoyed the book, but I have to concur. The ending was a swing and a miss at a cliffhanger. It was to unbelievable that it left me mad but not hooked. If your looking for a great book with a good cliffhanger, read Ashes by Ilsa J Bick.
I'm pretty mindfucked atm. It was like, Jane was dead then Jane isn't really then Jane lives again: And you do not know if she's the andriod or the 'real' version of her. IDK. It's still unclear and like @IanGB said, it's pretty like Maze Runner because the whole reason of the school for doing this kind of experiment is still unknown. Guess we'll have to wait for the sequel
Memory of the me reading the Ending:*Me reading book in Kindle*
"...I though you died. I thought we both did."
*Me in shock, open mouthed*
*Quickly goes to turn the next page to read next chapter*
"THERE IS NO NEXT CHAPTER!?"
i didnt really like the ending. it could have ended a thousand ways but im not a fan of the way it did.
What Ending?!!! What a terrible place to leave a reader! But I loved the book. Glad Feedback is out now to resolve a few things.
When I read the book I thought it was the only book. I loved it, but I had to read some stuff for school so I was trying to finish it. When I was at the end I was ready to be done with this great distraction, but it left me in agony to find out what was going to happen! I cannot wait to get my hands on Feedback!
I read this book in two days, this author really does a good job in making you want to continue reading - even during the non-intense parts! The ending totally threw me off. Excited to read the next book, Feedback!
I am so glad I read Variant while Feedback was sitting on my shelf in my room. I literally finished Variant and picked up Feedback. My friend warned me the ending would leave you hanging, so I read Variant once Feedback was out. :)
hmmm where did this ending seem familliar?? hmmm... oh ya the maze runner. this book totally copied. i was super pissed. like he needs to get his own ideas. same thing, different setting. so annyoing
I was like...O.O "Holy Crap!!! What the chiz just happened?!" O.OIt was just such a major twist in the plot!!! I never expected Jane to be a REAL LIVE PERSON!!!!!!
Do you think that maybe they made like a robot clone version of Jane?
Everyone, listen to Battle Scars by Lupe Fiasco. Everytime I listen to it I think about this book and theres one part where it goes 'you sit down and yell MEDIC!' I was like O.O OMG!! Listen to it...now xD

No, in an interview, Robison Wells stated that when he layed out his plans for a trilogy, his publisher said he had two completed books and half a third book. So he decided to put all his favorite ideas into the two books. It sucks....but at least he didn't just write a crappy third novel with fluff to fill in the blanks.

How do you know this new Jane isn't just another android? That's the very first thing that popped into my head when I saw the ending. And this farm community is probably another experiment setting... I have to get the second book. But I can see this happening.
