Please nominate your pick for March, in the Mystery & Suspense genre.
This could be any book that has a crime or puzzle to be solved, fiction or otherwise.
Some possible titles to get you thinking are Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie, or In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. (These are just ideas to get you thinking in that genre - feel free to nominate anything you think fits in this category, and if you're not sure, explain why you think it qualifies.)
Thanks so much, and look out for upcoming polls to vote for March's selected book!

Moved this for Kat...

So...here are my nominations for the next couple months:

Mar = Smokin' Seventeen. (Personally, I think of the Stephanie Plum novels as humor, but they're sold as mysteries.)

Paula Baker (paulabaker) | 21 comments 1. Anything by Agatha Christie. My favorites are about Hercule Poirot.
2. Anythng about Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (or all of them!)
3. Hamish McBeth Series by M.C. Beaton-I'd like to start with the first one, Death Of A Gossip, and work my way thru.
4. The Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger (a Steampunk Mystery)

Leann | 53 comments I have never read anything by Agatha Christie and everyone just raves about her, so I will simply say that I want to read a really GOOD one of hers. K. Nel? You have a couple suggestions of hers that I can put as my suggestions?? Much obliged madam, much obliged.

Just my thoughts, if you make me plod through a mystery, can it be either really fast paced or really funny or a combo of the two? I will do some research and figure out some names for a couple that sound interesting so i can post them.

Leann | 53 comments OH! And you know what... I will add one that I saw on the recent best sellers list that sounded amusing:

Before I go To Sleep by S.J. Watson

Paula Baker (paulabaker) | 21 comments Leann, like Karen said, Janet Evanovich is touted as mystery and those are screamingly funny.

My favorite Agatha Christie story is "And Then There Were None". You might give that one a try.

The Hamish McBeth series by M.C.Beaton are funny, especially if you like stories that show the quaint life in the Scottish Highlands.

There are tons of different kinds of mysteries, so you should be able to find SOMETHING you like. :)

Leann | 53 comments The Before I go to sleep story sounds like the movie Memento (if you've ever seen it). I saw it a loooong time ago, and while i didn't care for the language, the story line/concept was actually really interesting.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) This genre is out of my box as I usually don't read this type of book...but I have a couple of series that I do want to read because they go hand in hand with my love of the fiber arts : )

I will pick Hooked on Murder: A Crochet Mystery : )

Hooked on Murder (A Crochet Mystery, #1) by Betty Hechtman Hooked on Murder

LOL I am the oddball. I have tried to read Janet Evanovich several times and I just don't like them. I can't get into them : ( I hear everyone saying wonderful things about her books though : )

Robin I agree on that. The girls at work read her and will read some excerpts outloud... just doesn't interest me at all.

Leann | 53 comments I tried to read Time Travelers Wife, and while I did enjoy the details about the characters, I just couldn't force myself to get into it at the time.

BTW, Our pick for March, Her Fearful Symmetry, there are several copies available on www.paperbackswap.com. I have already interested Karen in this site because it's an easier way to BUY books and then swap them once you finish them.

They end up being about $3.50 per book, that includes shipping directly to your house and everything. If you swap a book and mail it to another member, then you get credit for one book that you can order from someone else. It's very cool. Give it a shot. The only book I was not able to get was Major Pettigrew, but that's ok. 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

Andra | 1 comments Ive always been particial to Sherlock Holmes. I find them witty and well rounded. Personally i cant believe ive only read one agatha christie book myself...and them PBS has filled in with masterpiece theater. But then again that is why ive enjoyed joining this open minded group. I very much enjoy reading and am particial to mystery. Thank you
