The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It criticizes society and is full of teenage angst.

Well, that was then, this is now is just upsetting. it made me sad. but i think you'd like it. if you liked outsiders, then you'd like rumble fish.

or, if your looking for a book about gays and lesbians and stuff, read "Pretty Things" by Sara Manning. Its actually pretty good, but like, girl #1 likes her best friend, Guy #1, (who is gay), who likes Guy #2 (known as the shagger for all his "shagging". this book takes place in england, lots of british slang), and Guy #2 likes Girl #2, even though she is the most lesbian girl ever and has a gf, but she kind of likes him. weird and confusing, but i actually liked it. surprisingly, because im very republican on this issue :)
