I though I'd start a thread for all the pet owners in the group to come talk about their "Babies".

He has interesting markings. I'm so glad he found a home. You have other cats, right Judy? How do they get along?
We had a cat named Max who looked like Chauncey. We all loved him so much that my 7 year old grandson is named . . . Max!!
I notice there is no tinsel on your tree, Judy. All our cats over the years have loved tinsel. My husband said they eat it so they can decorate their litter boxes.

Chauncey is a cutie. I love his nose patch!I have several pets, a dog, two cats, 2 budgies, 3 hamsters and a gerbil. We used to have 2 gerbils but one of the sisters passed away a few weeks ago (R.I.P.) and she was buried at our cottage.
This is very dangerous for me - mixing my two loves - book and kitties. I am a foster mom for cats for a local rescue group although our family is on a husband-imposed "break" from fostering because our cat family has grown to 5 since fostering!! Some you just can't adopt out!! I keep a scrapbook of all the cats/kittens we have fostered. My kids love looking back through it and it's so much fun to work on.
I would love to be a foster home for cats, but I know I could never let them leave! At one time we were a 4 cats and 2 Labradors home. They all loved each other dearly . . . and the cats were always in charge!
We recently rescued an English Bull Terrier/Staffie cross from a RSPCA shelter, who we have called Axl (without an e) and is a little devil! He's only 14 months old, 10 of which were spent in the kennels as his previous owner was an elderly woman whose son had bought her the dog for company but she gave him up when she realised she couldn't look after him properly. So it's his first proper family Christmas and so far the trees, presents and decorations have survived, although he did demolish his advent calender. We think the smell of treats was too much!
(I would add a pic but can't figure out how to add one.)

How wonderful that they are friends! I find it amazing that animals can adapt to each other so well.
When I got ny first hamster baby 6 years ago we started telling her she has to be nice to the "babies" and she's always been good with them. if they annoy her by crawling on her she slaps them away but keeps her claws in. She's also the first one to tell us if they've escaped she'll corner them and wail til we come and see whats wrong :)
Thanks Judy! Here's more of my babies:

Shes's brown and stripes all the way to her tail. What she lacks in smarts she makes up for in cuteness.
Judy wrote: "Aw, he looks cuddly, Alison. And I thought Christmas trees were a cat-thing.... :-)"Quite a cat-like dog, likes to drape herself across your neck.

Unbelievable - pacifist cat.

Lovely photos.
How do you add the pics? Is it through HTML coding and use of something like photobucket? Want to share my girls photos.
OK, here ya go...My Indie (claiming my sewing)
My Ivy reading the paper (she's a daddy's girl)
The two semi snuggling...
AWWWWWWWW!!! Everyone's fur babies are adorable : ) I am such an animal lover lol. One of my favorite quotes is (and I use it often): "I LOVE my dogs more than I LIKE most people!" LOL Both of my babies are rescued dogs. Here a couple of pics of my babies.
This is Murphy. He is a big goofball as he is always doing something silly : )
This is Saturn. She's kind of a goofy girl too : )
Oliver is the blonde and Poe is the grey gerbil[image error]
Poe died last month and now Oliver is all alone she misses her sister a lot. They were never apart for longer than 5 minutes since birth.

What cuties!!! Sorry to hear about Poe : ( Seeing your gerbils reminds me of my one and only encounter with a gerbil LOL When I was about 6 years old my brother (6 yrs older than me) brought a gerbil home from school. His class had a gerbil as a pet and each child got to bring it home for a weekend or whatever. I was fully instructed not to go in Randy's room and mess with the gerbil. If Randy was home then I could go visit the gerbil. Well, I took it upon myself that I was going to play with it anyway. I opened the cage and it escaped. So I decided the only way to catch it was with a big plastic cup. While using the plastic cup to try to catch it by covering it with the cup, I cut its tail off : ( I then used scotch tape and taped the tail back on (like no one would notice that) lol. Randy was so upset and told my mom he couldn't take the tail-less gerbil back to school. It was awful for him I know. It wasn't funny at the time but now when we look back on it we all get a good laugh over that.
Aww poor gerbil! The good thing about them is that there tails detatch incase a predator gets them in the wild. I miss my little Poe she was 2 and a half when she died. I think after Oliver dies I might get another pair of gerbils (you have to get a pair because they live in groups) but it's hard to keep up with them sometimes. They're much faster than my hamster babies.
Awww, everyone has such cute pets. I love the name Saturn!! Murphy and she are cute.Kim, my kitties are sisters and have always been together since birth. They usually fight but Ivy went missing for 2 months once (still have no clue what happened) and Indie kept wandering around the house calling.

Animals are smarter than people give them credit for. They're just different from us. Was Indie happy when Ivy came home?

TY : ) When I got Saturn she was a year old and on her second visit/living at the animal shelter. They found her when she was a little bitty puppy, a family adopted her, turned her loose and she got picked up again. They weren't able to tell me what her first animal shelter name was, or what the first family named her. When she went to the shelter the second time they named her Saturn. They were making her a name tag and we could have changed it but couldn't think of anything so we just left it at Saturn.
I got Murphy in February of 2011. His original name was Colby...UGGGGHHHHH. Don't get me wrong I like the name Colby for humans but not for dogs. So after a couple of days tossing around names I decided on Murphy : )

I haven't commented about Annie because there is just something about her but I couldn't figure out what. I keep looking at her and I finally figured it out. HER EYES : ) I LOVE THEM!!!!
Yeah she has very expressive eyes! She likes to look really sad when she wants something but when she's happy you can see it in them too. She wiggles her eyebrows a lot too it's adorable.

Kimberly wrote: "Oliver is the blonde and Poe is the grey gerbil..."My brother also had a couple of gerbils as pets. They had lots of babies. So much for them both being the same gender.
He lifted one up by the tail and it came off. Your story reminded me of that incident and I had a good chuckle.
Kimberly, I didn't know their tails detach as a defence. Interesting!
Kim,Not sure how to quote what people say in relation to a new post but in an answer to your previous question...oddly enough she didnt act happy when she saw her sister. I think she had gotten used to the spoiling and all the "extra" love we had been giving her. LOL
Judy,Abby the Tabby is a very cute name. We call Ivy "patchypants" b/c of her tabby patches. I love when they are serious snugglers. I know it can be annoying but I'd love for either of my two to be snugglers. Indie is but only at 5am when she is, less that subtley, trying to wake you up. Ivy...forget it.
When I woke up this morning, my husband asked if I remembered cuddling my cat in the middle of the night. (I didn't remember.) He had gotten up to go to the bathroom, and when he came back to the bedroom, I was lying on my back, Cleo on my chest, and my arms wrapped around her.
Aw, Janice that sounds cute. That's what my Indie does when she is trying to wake us up. She usually sleeps on my robe at the foot of the bed (or sometimes under t the bed) but close to sunrise, she always climbs onto one of us which ever way we are lying. I think she goes to sleep but not without purring loudly first. It would be cuter if it werent for the bad timing. :-)
Cleo will jump on me to wake me up if she wants to go outside. First, she thunders up and down the hallway. Generally, she's light on her feet unless she has a point to make. If the noise fails, she'll run into the bedroom and jump on me, then tear down the hallway again. It's rinse and repeat until I drag myself out of bed and cater to her whims.
