I'm so torn as to whether I should participate in reading Reamde. I'm just finishing up Anathem and that would be a lot of Neal Stephenson back to back. Anyone else going to read it or read it already?

RatchetMart I'll give it a try. I'm usually indifferent to the bookclub choices, this is the first time I've cared even a little.

Kurt Rocourt (krocourt) Just wondering what the next book pick will be. And whats up with the group activity? Did everyone move to another group and not post it on the forums?

Ivan I tried reading this book before, its interesting but felt unnecessarily drawn out. I couldn't keep going maybe 30-40% in, its the first and only book I have ever given up on. I may go back to it one day, just because I don't like the blotch on my record and its so highly praised, but I found it kind of boring and drawn out.

Kurt Rocourt (krocourt) Cool thanks.

Jeremy (jlhoag) | 5 comments I enjoyed Reamde quite a bit for what it was--a thriller enmeshed in Stephenson's erudite sensibility. The initial protagonist was basically the 'dwarf' from Cryptonomicon translated into a much more conventional (and for him, stressful) narrative.
