These are the rules that young Gris and Gary Steptoper have known all their lives. And Gary was apparently executed over breaking them.

Although of course there are loopholes. And the opposition. And the people who have outrageous unexplainable powers. Which include the Steptopers of course.

So when Gris, an avid reader of illegal books, joins the rest of the supposed saviors of Nabahge she expects the the win to come easily, like in the stories she reads. But what she doesn't realize is that it takes much more than knowledge to be a hero, and that you can't always do it alone.
