Brooke Here 'tis

message 2: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) What shall we do?

message 3: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Something new :) I'm so sick of high school roleplays (no offense if that's your favorite :P)

message 4: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) Oh thank god someone agrees! I despise highschool/romance xD they get so old soo fast.

message 5: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Totally. There's no plot to them at all!

message 6: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) Not at all :3
How do you feel about a sort of action/fantasy/kidnapping?
It's not that sexual kind, I wrote a plot based on a book I read, or we could try something else entirely.

message 7: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Sounds interesting. Wanna explain the plot to me?

message 8: by Carly (new)

Carly  (cloud-envy) The basic plot is this;

Every human has a soul. Here, your soul is born on the outside, and takes different forms of animals, insects, and maybe even humans, though it's been proven that taking human form sucks so much life energy out of a soul that it could kill the human it's linked to. These souls are called Dæmons, basically shapeshifter spirits linked to a person forever. Each person has a default form, or an animal shape that their Dæmon is born as and prefers to travel as. Because the Dæmon is in fact your soul, if it hurts, you hurt, or if it dies, unfortunately you die too.

The idea is, people have been abducted or tempted away by a promise of lavish wealth somewhere in the icy north. There, it gas been rumored that a group of people are testing Dæmons in relation to humans. They've attempted separating the two a great distance and causing so much pain that the pair dies. They've tormented humans to see Dæmon reactions.
They're terrible people doing terrible things.

So you have incentive. Weather your brother was kidnapped or your father was researching the north and never returned (as in my two character's cases) you have a reason to go. There's a plan to head out a few days from now, headed by two rebellious teenagers. It seems sure that their death will result, but they have nothing to lose, and will willingly take along anyone able to carry their own weight - or at least that's what the boy says.

message 9: by Brooke (new)

Brooke That sounds awesome! Let's do that

Appearance:
Personality: Lyra can be and has been called many things. Irresponsible, reckless, thoughtless, short-tempered, every other name in the book. As a child she was always careless, but now grown, she's grasped on to some respect and manners. The drawback many find is her pride. There is an endless amount of independence in the fiery redhead. Though her mother has managed to force some lady-like sense into her head, she still prefers anything over having to act like a "perfect lady" as it was taught. Her friendship with Hale proves that.

Dæmon Default Appearance:
Kin: Younger brother, mother

He's been raised by his single mother since he was seven, when his father left to research something up north. He's been determined to go find him ever since. Now that Lyra has motivation to travel with him, he's more than ready to go.

Brooke Name: Rue Pacey
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: http://www.popscreen.com/assets/thumb...
Personality: Rue is fearless, and is always throwing herself in dangerous situations. The few people that know her swear she doesn't have a single conscious thought ever, not caring about her well being or others. Rue usually does actions without thinking it over, and has come to regret many things throughout her life. She ignores many of her own feelings and has come to believe that relationships are hopeless and prefers not to become attatched to people, with the exception of Jarett and her Dæmon Ezra
History: Rue is an only child, the result of her mother having died in labor and her father never finding anyone else. Rue lived with just her father, staying in run down apartments and sometimes in shelters. Her father could never hold a steady job, so they were always low on money. When she was thirteen, her father told her that he was going to partake in something up north, and that he was going to get paid for it. He promised he'd send money back to her and insisted that this was just what they needed. Rue got money for a few months before it abruptly stopped. She's been living on her own wits ever since.
Dæmon Name: Ezra
Dæmon Default Form: Gray tabby cat
Dæmon Gender: Female
Dæmon Default Appearance: http://themoonfrostcats.webs.com/rain...
Kin: Her father
ROI: Jarett (Looks to him like the brother she was supposed to have)
Other: Often says that her best friend is the bottom of a bottle

Name: Jarett Hadlocke
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance: http://weheartit.com/entry/20142719
Personality: Jarett is the opposite of Rue, completely. Ever the optimist, he tries to see the bright side of everything and usually prevents him and those around him from feeling dispair about thing. He loves people and is always trying to help. He isn't afraid of a little pain and is willing to protect those he cares about with, well, his life.
History: Jarett came from a well off family. He had both parents and a younger sister. They had the money, the looks, everything. He was working as a model for a while until a soul killing cult attacked his home and murdered his entire family. He barely escaped with his soul. He lived for a while in hopelessness until he came across Rue, who had passed out after a night of intoxication on the small porch of the two room house he had moved to after he lost his family. He pushed away his own unhappiness and focased on her.
Dæmon Name: Gawain
Dæmon Default Form: Ruby throated humming bird
Dæmon Gender: Female
Dæmon Default Appearance: http://www.birdsofmaine.com/wp-conten...
Kin: None, they were all murdered.
ROI: Rue (Looks to her like the sister he had lost)

Brooke Why thank you :) You wanna start or should I?

message 19: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) Ah.. I will I suppose :3 Gimme a few.

message 20: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) For Lyra, this was the big night. The night that she and Hale were going over the final arrangements for their trip north. The town knew little of it, though there were a few rumors around. Nothing big enough for anyone to want to try to stop them.

Or to try to join them, apparently.

Lyra pulled on her snug brown coat and walked off into the snow. At her heels as always trotted a grey wolf pup, not paying much attention to her. Cute as he looked, in her mind she could faintly hear his thoughts, mostly his grumbling about the cold.

"We'll be at Hale's soon enough." muttered Lyra to the pup wandering behind her.

"Then I'll have to deal with Ariel." he huffed as they walked down the well worn path toward the small house that belonged to Hale and his mother.

"Hush."

They were greeted at the door by a tall, skinny boy of about nineteen, who looked at her with exhausted cerulean eyes and a tired smile. Her best friend looked absolutely worn out.

"Ready for some planning?" he asked as Kyra walked inside and took a seat at a small wooden table with two chairs around it and a map spread out atop the surface.

"Yeah. Did you hear anything about the other two who might be traveling with us?" she asked.

He shrugged. "I sent word with a person in town that we were meeting tonight, we'll just see." he replied, sitting with a cup of coffee. "We should start now."

Lyra nodded. Her fingers slid up onto the parchment and traced the well worn path of the planned journey with her fingertip.

message 21: by Brooke (last edited Dec 28, 2011 09:41PM) (new)

Brooke Jarett paced along his porch, glancing at his watch every few steps. He was beginning to lose his mind waiting for her like this. Rue was supposed to be here by now. Well, fifteen minutes ago. He worried about her at times like this, especially when they had places they needed to be. And tonight was important.

"I don't think she's going to show," a voice chirped in his head. Gawain sat on his shoulder, her little body huddle against his neck to block out the cold. Her feathers were soft and her presence soothing. But she wasn't very optimistic.

"She'll be here," Jarett said confidently, stopping to look out into the street. "She has to be coming. She promised."

"When was the last time Rue kept a promise to you?" Gawain inquired.

"Never, but that's not the point," he grumbled, hating that Gawain was always right.

"Jarett!" A dark form launched itself up the two small steps of the porch. Rue placed her hands on her knees and hunched over, trying to catch her breath.

"There you are!" He exclaimed. "I was wondering if you weren't going to come at all."

"I had some stuff I needed to do," Rue straightened up and brushed her wild hair out of her eyes. "But we better get moving now, or we're going to be uninvited." Her eyes grinned as she leaned down and picked up Ezra, throwing the cat over her shoulder. "C'mon, brother, let's go."

message 22: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) The 'official' route planned by Hale's mother was the safest, according to her, but also the longest. Lyra had made sure that trail was lined in bright red marker on the map, but had also marked a shorter trail. This one was more rigid, and cut through the mountainous terrain of the north at one point, dragging directly through a forest at another, and dipping below into a trechorous valley. It was much more dangerous than the other path, but it would save them almost three days worth of the long journey.

Hale didn't seem as fond of the idea as Lyra did.

"I just don't think it's smart. Sure it saves us a few days, but is it worth possible death?" he wondered with a frown.

"What would you give to see your father again?" the red head challenged.

Hale fell silent. It was a low blow he was used to her using by now whenever he tried to back out of the journey. She needed he little brother back, and he needed his father. They were in this together.

"Everything." he sighed.

"Then why not a few days?" she asked.

"We'll discuss it with the other two later." he muttered.

message 23: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Jarett and Rue walked along the streets at a fast pace. Rue pulled up the sleeve of her black shirt and looked at the address written along the inside of her arm. Jarett leaned over to look at it as well, but after reading it he was still as confused by it as he had been in the first place. It was obvious that he had never been to that part of the city, but Rue seemed to know her way around.

"My father and I actually used to live around there," she admitted when he asked about it. "Before he took off." Erza rubbed her face against Rue's cheek and she smiled wistfully. "If the rumours are true...." she looked up at Jarett. "Then my father is dead.'

"What if he's not Rue? What if he's still out there, waiting for a savior?" Jarett wondered, his breath forming clouds in front of him.

"Then he should have believed in God."

Jarett fell quiet after that and decided not to push it. He knew when Rue was done opening up, and to never ask any more until she was ready.

About five minutes later, Rue abruptly ditched the sidewalk and cross the snow covered yard to a house. Jarett back tracked a couple steps and then followed her.

"This the place?" He looked around as he settled beside her.

She reached rapped her fist on the door a couple times. "If it's not, then I'm going back to the bar and screwing this whole idea."

message 24: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) "I'll get it!" Lyra said gleefully, leaping to her feet."We'll let our fellow adventurers decide for themselves if they want to travel the long way or get it done faster." she proclaimed, turning for the door.

"Not so fast." Hale yanked her down by the belt loop and pushed her back into her chair. "Now, stay there. Emotion has to be taken out of the equation. The sitation must be handled lightly." he ordered, rising to his feet and walking across the room.

Lyra glared at him as he went. If al emotion was taken out of the equation, she would never get to her brother in time, if he hadn't already had something terrible happen to him. Echo, who had hopped into her lap, looked up with large eyes.

"You'll just have to have a way with words." he reminded.

"I know." Lyra muttered.

Hale ignored her whispering, knowing it was probably with her Daemon anyway. He sighed and opened the door, giving a wry smile to the two that stood on the poarch.

"Hey, come on in."

message 25: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Jarett looked him up and down and smiled politely. "Thank you," he said as he placed a hand on the small of Rue's back and gently pushed her in through the doorway, slightly ahead of him. He shut the door behind him, watching as Rue kicked her shoes off and wandered further into the room, shaking his hand off.

Jarett took his boots off, then grabbed Rue's shoes and moved them out of the way.

"I'm Jarett," he said to the guy. "And that's Rue." He nodded over at Rue, who was introducing herself to the red head

message 26: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) Hale nodded, his gaze flickering from Jarett to Rue, and back again. A wry smile passed across his lips when he took note that she moved directly over to Lyra.
It might be a very long, very interesting time, with these two coming along.

"It's nice to finally meet you." he replied, leading Jarett over to the table cluttered with travel plans. "I'm Hale, and this is my dear friend--"

"Lyra." she smiled at him, quick to introduce herself. "Nice to make your acquaintaince." she chuckled and flashed a grin, perhaps overdoing her politeness on account of her excitement. "Now Hale, may we ask our question?"

He sighed. "Sit, sit." he gestured to empty chairs. "I can get refreshments before we plunge into our plans.."

Lyra huffed and glared at him. "Stop beating around the bush?"

message 27: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Rue plopped down on a chair and grinned over at Lyra. She liked her already. "We're fine, aren't we Jarett?" Rue said as Jarett dragged a chair up beside her."I'd perfer if we got into it right away, actually. I'm very curious to see what you two have got planned out." She leaned closer to the table and her eyes danced across the maps and lists that were spread askew around the table.

Jarett looked over at Rue and smiled slightly. She hadn't seemed really enthusiastic about the plan, but now that she was here, he found her warming up to it.

"Are these the routes we're taking?" Rue asked, her index finger tracing the two paths.

Jarett leaned closer to see as well. He followed her finger with his eyes, then looked up at Hale and Lyra.

message 28: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) "Yes." Lyra smiled devilishly, leaning forward and pointing to the shorter, more dangerous route.

"No." Hale nudged her and moved her hand to the second line.

Lyra's lips formed a thin line. Her gaze flickered to Rue and Jarett. "That's where we need your help." she sighed and stood, pacing. "Though Hale has a route already figured, there is a second route we could opt for." she turned to face the pair of newcomers. "A shorter one."

"A more dangerous one." Hale cut in quickly, frowning at the two. "Through trechorous mountain passes and expanses of rough terrain. It might save us time, it might kill us."

"But it might get us closer to what we're after, faster." Lyra replied. "And if you'd decide, it would make it less stressful between hale and I."

message 29: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Jarett looked at Rue, who was still looking at the map, chewing on her bottom lip furiously. She glanced over at Jarett and grinned. He knew that grin.

"Rue-" he began, but she cut him off.

"I think we should take the shorter route," she said, looking between the two others. "We want to get there as soon as possible, right?"

"But if we take that route, it's not even certain that we'll get there at all," Jarett pointed out, glarring at Rue. "We may die on the way there."

message 30: by Brooke (new)

Brooke (Hello?)

message 31: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) (D: sorry!)

"But a shorter route means getting their quicker." Lyra cut in, her voice sharp and sure. "I don't know about you, but I have someone there. I need to be with him as soon as possible."

"Lyra, we have to take emotion out of the decision, you know-"

"We can't, Hale!" she cried, blue-green eyes alight. "The whole idea is about emotion! We can't subtract something of that.. That importance!"

message 32: by Brooke (new)

Brooke ((Ah, it's fine!))

"She's right," Rue said quietly. "Emotion is the whole reason we're going. If I didn't care about my father, then I wouldn't want to go out there in the first place."

Jarett ran his fingers through his hair, trying to think of a way to get this idea out of Rue's head. Unfortunatly, nothing was coming to him, and he was beginning to get frustrated. He knew there was no way to change Rue's mind when she was bent on an idea, and the other girl seemed the exact same way.

Rue looked over at Hale. "Don't you want to get there sooner, to help whoever was taken from you? If we take the longer route, we may not get there in time to rescue them."

message 33: by Carly (new)

Carly (cloud-envy) Hale glanced down, his eyes darkening now. He didn't look at Rue for a moment. He hadn't even told Lyra. "I know my father's there as well. But... My mum gave up hope months ago. He's dead, she knows it, and I.. This is a recovery mission for me." he cleared his throat. "There's no reason for me not to spare a few days if it saves our lives."

Lyra frowned, eyeing Hale carefully a moment. She slowly rose and rested a hand on his arm, startled. She'd figured he'd had as much hope as she had, but obviously she'd thought wrong.
"That doesn't mean going faster wouldn't be better. Hale, please?"

"It's not my choice." he said gruffly. "I don't want either of our new crew members doing something they aren't prepared for."

Lyra turned on her heel, looking at Jarrett directly. She cocked a brow at him, waiting. "I suppose its up to you then, huh?"

message 34: by Brooke (new)

Brooke Jarett sighed and glanced over at Rue. "I don't want any of us hurt, or even killed. What's a few more days?"

Rue ran her hands over Ezra's coat, and looked at the map, chewing her bottom lip. She leaned closer to the map and then lifted Ezra up onto the table. "Perhaps there's a way to combine the two, saving us at least a day..." She murmured to herself, studying the map.
