Collette is a 13 year old girl living on the streets. The only family she has is her brother Luke, but when she gets kidnapped, she has to find a way to let her brother know that she's coming back, and get back herself. On this journey home, she discovers things about friendship, betrayal, family, and her past.

Footsteps echoed, the sound bouncing off the narrow walls of the alley. My footsteps. I had to get out of here. It was too easy to be found by-
In a flash, the feeling of bricks and plaster from the wall was pressing into my back as a hand held me against it.
"Let me go." I hissed.
He smirked. "Why would I do that?"
"Because you know full well that you need what I have."
"Oh, Cole. I have so much more than you, I bet. I probably-"
Tired of hearing his incompetent boasting, I elbow him in the gut and pull away. "Back off, Luke. I'm tired, being chased by the police, and we still need to find a place for the night." I say, shouldering the strap to my pack full of things I'd been able to snatch.
He shrugs, not showing his pain, if I even caused him any. In the faint light, I can make out a few of his features that haven't changed - his baby blonde hair, his thin structure, ravishing looks. If it hadn't been for our circumstances, I would bet he'd be in highschool starring in the play, or a runner on the football team, and have girls dying to go out with him.
