Any books you've read that you didn't like and you stayed up all night trying to read it only to find you hated it?

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano

This book would have to be one of my least favorites.

All those 'vampire-twilight-wannabes' I hate and they are really boring and it feels like they plagarised the whole twilight book. I'm abit picky with vampire books.

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) @ Charlotte: don't worry, that's just my opinion.
Hehehe.
LOt of my friends liked it so I suggest you still read it.

Yeaaaaaah!
I agree.
Twilight is actually my first YA-Panormal book.
I hate it when other books try to make their books like it.
Arrgggg.

I've only read up to "Betrayed" in the house of night series because it was alright and I had other books to read at that time. I still haven't gotten around to reading the series yet.

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) Haven't read that yet but I had an Arc for the graphic novel. :)

message 8: by Patrycja (new)

Kaitlyn Davis (kaitlyn_davis) | 18 comments Bloodhound

So sad, I just finished this book and I was so looking forward to it, but the whole story just let me down.

If you've never read Tamora Pierce, I would skip this series and read the 'Protectors of the Small' or 'Alanna' series - both are fantastic!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

i didn't really have any books that i hated (= books i disliked would have to be Boy Toy or something. It was really depressing :( Bt thats about it. ^-^

❋ Sylvia ❋ | 51 comments I can't really say I hate it but Shiver isn't my fav. I've tried reading it several times now but it just sit there on my kobo desktop looking all sad. And I'm not fond of the Cassandra Clare books either :|
Maybe once the movie comes out it'll peak my interest again and I'll finish the series, but it was a struggled to get through the 1st book

message 23: by Kauthar (last edited Mar 07, 2012 12:51PM) (new)

Kauthar | 14 comments i tried to read the first twilight book Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer but it didn't go well for me. a couple of my friends like the series and tried to get me to finish but i just don't like it (no offense to anyone who likes the books. i also don't like sad stories.

The twilight series is all right, I guess. Not the best series. Every book is like Deja vu, Alice has a vision, vampires go after Bella, yada yada yada, poor defenseless Bella runs to the vampires. Really it would save us all the drama if she did get caught.

I don't like sad stories either! ;D I don't know how people can read sad stories or watch sad movies, doesn't it make people feel depressed? When going to the movies I always pick an action/romantic comedy. Sad stuff doesn't really do it for me.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 69 comments Those harry potter books and those twilight books

message 26: by Myndi (new)

Myndi | 26 comments I don't think I "hate" any book. I did read "The Great Alone" by Janet Dailey and it took me far longer than a book normally takes to read and I for sure would not want to read it again.

message 28: by Debbie (last edited Apr 27, 2012 04:08AM) (new)

Debbie Davies (debbie16) | 12 comments Dark Angel (Dark Angel, #1) by Eden Maguire - really didnt like this book
Fever (The Chemical Garden, #2) by Lauren DeStefano - very depressing book, someone was always ill!

message 29: by Pauline (new)

Pauline Ivashkov (polens29) | 7 comments books that are very slow. books that makes me want to strangle the character because of their poor reasoning. I don't like "The Truth About Forever". The ending was that they just kissed. OMG

message 31: by Aileen (new)

Aileen Harkwood (aileen_harkwood) | 3 comments Not really a book hater. If I don't like something I simply put it down, but can't remember the last time a book made me want to throw it in the shredder.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of books or series where the paranormal world IS the normal world. I want paranormal that's set in a real, believable setting where strange, weird or supernatural things happen to regular or maybe not so regular people. Not where the heroine is head of the Vampire Guild and has to go to a meeting to hash out squabbles and infighting among the Werewolf and Witch Guilds, etc. Bleh. Kind of takes the fun out of things if everyone in the book is paranormal.

message 32: by Scarlet (new)

Scarlet (extraordinarygirl86) | 11 comments Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4) by Stephenie Meyer Awakening (The Watchers Trilogy, #1) by Karice Bolton

This one Darkness Dawns (Immortal Guardians, #1) by Dianne Duvall my also be on my hate list soon. I expected to like it because the plot is similar to Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I'm losing interest after only 22 pages. The main characters are not very interesting.

♥ Rebecca ♥ Mark of the Princess (The Kingdom Chronicles, #1) by B.C. Morin I know there is a lot of love for this Indie book, but I'm not sure if that's just because ppl are friends with the author. The writing was super, super weak and amateur. The story was ok, nothing special. With the right writing and character development I could have enjoyed it. But the writing was so bad it got 1 star from me.

I didnt mind the first two in that series, but it turned out to be only because I had a misconception about where the series was going. I hated the last one in the series. It was a DNF for me.

message 40: by Allison (new)

Allison | 7 comments The deeper I got into the Sookie Stackhouse books, the more I hated them! That "grrrrr....she's so dumb and annoying but I gotta finish this" kind of annoying

message 41: by Miss Williams (new)

Miss Williams | 6 comments twilight was my first paranormal Y.A, so i don't really find other vamp books interesting. because they end up being very similar to twiligjt.

message 42: by Miss Williams (new)

Miss Williams | 6 comments i also dislike romance novels that include a love triangle. it just never seems to work out, & i hate books without a happy ending.

message 43: by Bella (new)

Bella Rana | 2 comments I tried to read the House of Night series as well, but it was just too horrible. All of the characters annoyed me, and I felt like I could predict the entire plot of the series- plus the love triangle was horrible. Like, her human best friend or the sexy and mysterious vampire: There's no way she's gonna choose the human, even though he's the better person. The entire book was frustrating, and I didn't go any farther than the first book.
