The Brontë Family discussion

For discussion of Shirley by Charlotte Brontë.

I thought I would find comments here; I was surprised I found none. This book is so odd, in my opinion. It has been hard for me to read it: before Shirley appeared, I almost stopped reading it, but I continued. Then, I became interested again and Shirley appeared. Stopped then. Again reading it. I don't know...reading this book has been a real task to me.
Well, I just wanted to hear other people's "insight" about Shirley, maybe to see if I could feel a little more motivated.

It has been a while since I read this one, but I agree. It was a little hard to get through. I remember being surprised at the ending, but the plot is a little fuzzy in my memory.
