Angie H Another year of reading is over! .. which of course means another year of new books to read is ahead! =). I was pretty proud of last years final tally (86) but I am pretty sure this year will be MUCH less as my son will be turning 1 at the end of the month, and I'll be going back to work not long after that.... But they wouldn't call it a challenge if it were super easy would they??
anyways.. on with the challenge!!!

#1 done already?! Wow! I'm impressed!

message 7: by Karol (new)

Karol Angie, I listened to "Gets Tough" as an audio book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the series, but particularly enjoyed this one as the ladies struggled with some really tough challenges (thus the name!) and made it through together. Good stuff.

ha ha don't be TOO impressed.. I read most of it on the 31st.. but I finished it on the 1st so I counted it for this year.... I know its going to be a busy year so I need all the help I can get. =)

yes, this one was a "tough" one for sure. It makes me so sad to think that these sorts of things are actually happening today. It was amazing and encouraging to read about how these ladies pulled together and with God's help able to get through the tough challenges.. and going so far as to praying for their enemies ( that one I always find hard.)
This series is great... 3 left.. then the spinoff series.. and then It looks like there is ANOTHER spin-off series after that. Lots of Neta Jackson books left to read in my future. =)

Angie H #2. A Tailor-Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer 5/5 stars. I received this book for Christmas. I had never read a book by this author, but this definitely won't be my last.I loved it, such a sweet story.

message 12: by Angie H (new)

Angie H #3.The Handmaid's Tale3.5/5 stars. I found this book very interesting, way better than some of the other classics that I read. The ending left you thinking which is kind of nice for a change, instead of having everything all neatly tied-up in a little bow. =)

message 13: by Angie H (last edited Jan 08, 2012 09:02PM) (new)

Angie H #4.. Love Finds You in Groom Texas (Large Print) by Janice Hanna 4/5 stars. another one from the "love finds you in" series.

message 14: by Angie H (new)

Angie H #5. A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, #1) by Julie Lessman 5/5 stars. This was the authors debut novel and I loved it! I lost sleep on this book, couldn't put it down and was up till the wee hours finishing it. Some people have classified this as "edgy" Christian Fiction, but I am not really sure why. I'm also not sure what "edgy" is supposed to mean...
I hope to read the next two in the series sometime this year!

Angie H #6. The Lady of Bolton Hill by Elizabeth Camden 5/5 stars. Another debut novel. I read this one in about two sittings, I could not put the book down.Looking forward to reading her next novel, I'm on the waiting list at the library.

#7. The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver 4/5 (probably more like 3.75/5) wow one from my classics book club that I actually enjoyed. cute story!

message 16: by Angie H (new)

Angie H #8. Peach Cobbler Murder (Hannah Swensen, #7) by Joanne Fluke 3/5

message 17: by Angie H (new)

Angie H #9 The Frontiersman's Daughter by Laura Frantz 4/5 stars. Really enojoyed this one, I didn't find this one as predictable as some. Another new author for me.

#10 The Baker's Wife by Erin Healy 4/5 stars. A "light" suspense novel. Great read!

message 18: by Angie H (new)

Angie H #11 To Die For A Novel of Anne Boleyn by Sandra Byrd 4/5 stars. a retelling of Anne Boleyn from her friend Meg's perspective. I really enjoyed this historical fiction.

#12 The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen 4.5/5 this was another great historical fiction. Julie Klassen is making her way up on my favorite author list!!

Angie H #13 Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin 5/5 stars.

#14 Love Finds You in Sunset Beach, Hawaii by Robin Jones Gunn 5/5 stars

#15 Home Front by Kristin Hannah 4.5/5 stars. oooo Kristin Hannah you have done it again. This lady just knows how to write an emotional rollercoaster of a story. She plays on all your emotions! Great book and again if there wasn't the swearing it would easily have been 5 stars! I'm so glad I can go back and read some of her earlier novels because a whole year would just be torture!
