I'm Jennifer and live in a northwest suburb of Minneapolis, MN. I'm married with three children (an 11, 9 and 5 year old) and own a software consulting business. Luckily I function on very little sleep because I love to read into the wee hours of the night after everyone is tucked into bed.

When I'm not reading, I spend my evenings blogging over at Fictitious Delicious, a sweet little book blog that celebrates the YA genre in a very silly way. (www.fictitiousdelicious.com)

I enjoy reading all types of fiction but especially love the classics, Young Adult, and paranormal romance. Nice mix, eh? I spent a lot of time reading YA last year and plan on that continuing this year.

Happy Reading!

message 2: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 112 comments I live in the Hamilton area in Ontario, Canada and I teach full-time. Last year, I was a fourty books short of meeting the challenge! I know I can do it; I just can't allow all the clutter of life to fill up my time. This year, there will be less time devoted to the screen(TV, computer, etc.). (Yes, that is a resolution.)

I, too, love a mixture of reading types. However, I most especially love classic fiction and poetry.

Thank-you, Jennifer, for continuing the group, again, this year! I look forward to another year of reading!

message 3: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (indiereadergirl) Hi. I live in a little suburb in NJ. I mostly read classics, but still tend to read YA books. I am currently in a huge historical fiction phase, though.

This is my second time trying to do this. I only made it to 56, almost 57. Let's hope for a better reading year.

Good luck my fellow readers! Look forward to seeing what you read.

message 4: by Lyssa (new)

Lyssa | 150 comments Good evening all! I'm Lyssa, in Southern California. This is my first year on my own as my daughters are both in college, and my partner just took a job that requires him to work out of state. Just me and the cats for the time being. With all the change in the air, I'm glad I've got my books and this year's version of the group as constants. :)

I work full time and am currently working on adjustments to the daily schedule to make sure the chores get taken care of. Visitors may have to deal with a little mess as I will ignore chores if I hit a really good part in a book.

My usual reads are darker sci fi and fantasy, but I've discovered a fondness for travel writing, biography/memoirs, and non-fiction that doesn't read like a textbook. I'm a double-dipper: regular purchases from the bookstore as well as regular visits to the library. Sometimes it even happens on the same day...

I had fun keeping up with last year's group and am looking forward to this one. Thanks Jen for keeping this going!

*Suzy (ereaderuser)* (suzyereaderuser) Hi everyone. I'm Suzy from Southern California. I'm married with two kids, a daughter 28 and a son 23. My husband and I have a screen printing business.

My favorite books are dystopians, apocalyptic, post-apocalyptic, and anything zombie! I like to throw in a mystery/suspense once in awhile too. And like you Jennifer I'm always reading until late at night. I rarely stop before 1:00am and many times push it until 2:00.

I exceeded my goal in 2011 by 6 books, so I set my goal a little higher this year from 104 to 120. Thanks for keeping the group going for another year!!!

Hi neighbor! Had to say I got a giggle from your avatar. Happy 2012!

message 7: by Charity (new)

Charity | 105 comments Hello, everyone! I'm Charity from northern British Columbia, Canada. I'm a married mom of 4, a full time student and part time library employee.

I like a lot of non-fiction, especially memoirs and anything to do with sustainability, but also devour mysteries, ya fiction, and have recently discovered both steampunk and some interesting fantasy choices out there. I did the 100 book challenge last year, so thought upping my goal a bit would be a good idea. I look forward to reading with you all over the next year.

*Suzy (ereaderuser)* (suzyereaderuser) Hi Lyssa!

Thanks! That's a little zombie my daughter gave me as a Christmas gift. My family knows about my love of anything zombie.

message 9: by Tiennie (new)

Tiennie Hello! I'm Tiennie, married mom of 4. I joined this group last year and found it motivating and fun to see the number of books I read tally up. I finished 159 books last year but I don't think I will be able to keep that pace up this year. I'm glad to see a new group for 2012! Happy New Year everyone and happy reading!

message 10: by Leslie (last edited Jan 02, 2012 03:49PM) (new)

Leslie Hello, all. I'm Leslie from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Last year I aimed to read 104 books and met that goal with room to spare, so I think I can do it again! LIke others, I found keeping track of my reading on Goodreads motivating. I just finished my first book of the year, so I'm off to a good start. I read fiction, history, biography, poetry, essays, anything that catches my interest, with a special interest in the history and literature of the 18th and 19th centuries and of Japan. Plus I love a good mystery, especially of the older/Golden Age/pulp variety.

Happy reading to everyone.

message 11: by Aerykah (new)

Aerykah | 13 comments Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I'm Aerykah from Oklahoma.
I joined last year's challenge and ended the year with 138 books read! I found it fun to share my books and see what others read throughout the year. So, here I am again. My family knows me well, so I got several books for Christmas and have already started working on this year's challenge. :)
Most of the books I read are fiction, but I have read some biographies and I love poetry. I'll read pretty much any genre (mostly Inspirational), though I don't particularly care for SciFi or Fantasy.
Good luck to everyone. Hope you all meet your reading goals this year!

message 12: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyyy) Hi everyone!

I'm Tracy, from northern California. Currently 21 and employed, taking a long, probably not a great idea break from college. This is my first year joining in! I've only just recently really gotten back into reading and I'm so glad! I didn't realize just how much I missed it :) I was originally going to do a 52 book challenge but found your 2011 group. And I might have a bad habit of jumping way into things without thinking about them, so here I am :P

I absolutely devour YA books like nothing else.. I don't know, there's just something about them! I read my fair share of chick lit and fantasy/sci-fi as well.. and I've been on a dystopian kick as of late :)

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how far I can get this year and to see what everyone is reading as well!

message 13: by Dar (new)

Dar | 1 comments I'm dar from Debs, MN where the winters are long and reading keeps one sane.
I like keeping track of books on Goodreads. I also enjoy seeing what others are reading.
My taste in books vary: nonfiction, fiction, classics, YA or whatever is on the "New Books" shelf at the library.
I love you Jen. Thanks for another year.

message 14: by Rooks (new)

Rooks (astorytellingofrooks) Heya - I'm Rooks, I'm in Colorado, and I just discovered this group when looking for a good book challenge to join for the year, because I'm trying to keep better track of what I've read. I'll read just about anything, including sci-fi/fantasy, informational-type non-ficiton (like popular science or history books), and a lot of theory and scholarly-type books (I'm a grad student, what're you gonna do?), as well as romances and the like.

I'm doing this challenge and the Mount TBR challenge (for which you only read books that you already own that you haven't read yet) because I have a *serious* used bookstore addiction, and I figure there'll be some great overlap, but I also want to do one that lets me read all the new books I'm sure I'll acquire. But yeah, there'll likely be some really, really random and scattershot read books from me, but I look forward to seeing what everyone else is reading!

message 15: by Alissa (new)

Alissa I'm Alissa and I'm from Calgary, Alberta Canada. I joined this group to challenge myself and to discover new books I might not come across on my own.
My favorites are crime fiction, books about food or music, and contemporary fiction but I try to mix it up.

I look forward to new discoveries.

message 16: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 67 comments Hi everyone! I'm Marcie, from New York City. I discovered and joined this group when I saw someone from another group on here had joined, and since I read constantly, I thought it would be a great challenge to set a number for myself and really track what I'm reading.

Lately I'm reading a lot of dystopian YA books (think Hunger Games and beyond) but I read anything and everything - especially historical fiction. For someone who is pretty upbeat in general, I tend to read a lot of really sad books, so I'm hoping to change that in 2012.

Nice to meet you all!

message 17: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 78 comments I'm Nanci and I live in Utah. I work part-time as a circulation clerk at our local library. I loved being a part of this group last year so I want to keep up this year. I love seeing what everyone is reading and I love it when I see the opinions people express about the books. I am into audio books during the day real books any chance I get. I love YA books, mystery, romance, classics and pretty much anything that looks interesting.
Looking forward to hearing from you all.

message 18: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (wolfewoman) | 18 comments I'm Rachel W. and I live in Houston. I joined a little late last year and didn't finish the challenge, but I am positive I will finish this year! I work in a psych. office and recently changed workplaces, so I am in a much better place mentally. I am hoping to cut down on some of the late night reading so I can sleep- I think I function much better with some sleep- but it's really hard to put some books down!
I read a little bit of everything. A few years ago my new years reading resolution was to read more non-fiction, and I have tried to keep that up. I read the old fashioned way, with paper books. I haven't given in to the lure of new reading gadgets...yet.
Thank you Jennifer for doing this group again!

message 19: by Denise (new)

Denise (deniselbrown) | 5 comments Hey I'm Denise, I live in Minneapolis MN and I joined late last year and read like 118 books or so. When I am not reading I am a wife, mother of 2 girls, (ages 6 and 2) and a RN. I mostly read at night and working the night shift as a nurse is great for making money while reading!;) When I am home I just sacrifice house hold duties and sleep to read.

I am in a wonderful book club with the lovely Jennifer and I read a lot of the same things she does...(thanks Jen for being so cool and making us all feel like we should stop living a read more to get to 104!:))

I am a sucker for YA lit. and a good love triangle. Give me a little romance (paranormal or normal) and a small amount of action and I will be happy.(Brain candy books!) I have further requirements for me to LOVE a book, but I will usually finish whatever I pick up.
I am pleased to be a part of this little group, have a wonderful 2012!!!

message 20: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) Hi all,

I joined the challenge in 2011 and made it to 144 books, so I'm really excited to see this group for 2012 reads!

I'm Australian-born but have been living in the Netherlands for nearly four years now. I love reading all kinds of books, but I have a particular fancy for horror, zombies and post-apocalyptic novels which I also blog about. I'm also doing an Around the World in 52 books challenge so will be incorporating those books into this list!

Happy reading!

message 21: by Pragya (new)

Pragya (reviewingshelf) Hi.

I just saw this group and hopped on.

I am Pragya from India. I love to read mostly anything I can get my hands on but I'm not much into horror books and only sometimes, paranormal.

message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary (mccanniff) | 37 comments Hi. Thanks to Jen for setting this up again. I started late, and only made it to 88 books or so last year(and that's only because YA and kids books count!). I'm starting on time this year, so I plan to make it to 104! I'm outside of Philly, married, with two daughters (8, 2). I, too, love all things zombie, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, non-fic, knitting books, and YA books.

Really looking forward to what everyone reads this year!

message 23: by Candace (new)

Candace (readbetweenthecovers) | 2 comments Hi everyone! I am a full time working mother of 3 from Florida. I was part of this group last year and was only 27 books short of the goal! I am really excited to get started this year. Happy Reading everyone!

message 25: by ShyStar (new)

ShyStar | 18 comments Hi it's nice to meet everyone, I'm Shaaista and an 18 year old full time student from England. I absolutely love reading- have done all my life! I'm the only one in my family who reads and so am really looking forward to the challenge and getting to talk to other people about books! I'm not too fussed on the genre of a book as long as its fiction and adventurous. The main genres I do read though are YA, fantasy, action, adventure, romance, paranormal etc.
I will be tweeting about the book I read on http://twitter.com/SheLovesBooks1 if any of you are intrested..
Looking forward to reading, fingers crossed i meet the challenge!

Lesley | 49 comments Hi everyone~ my name is Lesley and I live in North Idaho where I teach Child Development courses at a community college. I have 4 adult children and 2 grandsons (oh, and another grandchild on the way!)
I LOVED being in this challenge the last two year and found some GREAT reading ideas, and great friends. I try to read a variety of books and read both printed books and listen to audiobooks. I like mysteries and suspense, and anything on sale for the Kindle or cheap through audible.com. I hope to meet the 104 challenge this year and to read all your posts (that is a real challenge, too!)... it is a great place to get new reading ideas!
