Traditional Regency Romance Aficionados discussion

Please help me! I have been going crazy looking for this, going through all my ebooks and books to reread a regency novel I loved but cannot remember the title! I only remember one plot scene: the heroine - wife of the hero by then - meets the exmistress of said hero at a ball, and kind of humiliates her in the retiring room by delivering a speech wicj included the word "ex" at least ten times in it.
I now it's not much to go on but I keep thinking about this and I know you know how disturbing it can be! Please help me!
