What was the best book you read in 2011?

message 2: by Dan (new)

Dan Schwent (akagunslinger) I'm not sure if I'd say it was the best but The Hyperion Omnibus by Dan Simmons was the one that stayed with me the longest.

Heather Doherty | 4 comments I had a fantastic year in reading so it's hard to choose one, but I'll go with A Visit from the Goon Squad. I actually read it twice in 2011 and enjoyed it even more the second time. I have to give honorable mentions to State of Wonder and The Night Circus as well.

For my choice I think I am going to have to go with The Book Thief by Markus Zusak you can't help but be moved in so many ways by this book.

Top 3:
11 / 22 / 63 - an awesome time travel thriller and a touching love story all in one.

A Dance with Dragons - so much amazing packed into this book and an ending that made me want to throw the book across the room (what more can you ask for)

The Passage - probably the book that stayed with me the most considering I read it in January but thought back on it quite a few times. One of those rare books, IMHO, that live up to the hype.

Ray | 3 comments I'll say it was a tie between Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson or Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth

Alena (alenam) It's always so hard to choose just one book, but I'll have to go with State of Wonder for its overall brilliant writing. Every year I also come up with my personal top ten, which I posted on my blog for the first time. http://alenaslife.tumblr.com/

Very cool blog! I like your style. I have either enjoyed or plan to read every book on your top ten.

I agree. I read many amazing books this year too. I also recently started a health and wellness blog. Please take a peek at http://comprehensivewellness.wordpres...

Eric (proggyboog) I posted my top reads of the year a few weeks ago on my blog (http://leadpushers.com/incunabula/?p=710) but if I had to choose ONE of those, it would be A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge.

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption would be a very, very close second.
