The 104 Book Challenge - 2012 discussion
Marcie's 2012 Book List!
2. Succubus Blues by Richelle MeadSo I tore through Mead's YA series the week before Thanksgiving and thought I'd give this series a try. Whoo- NOT YA! At first I was a bit underwhelmed by the story, but it didn't take long to get sucked in.
7. Succubus Revealed
Whata fantastic end to a series! My only complaint about Mead's books in general are that the titles are a little lackluster, thought clearly it hasn't stopped me from reading.
8. Matched by Ally CondieI was on the fence about this book for the first half. Another dystopian YA book. Another female character too strong-willed, too smart, too something...but I was won over in the end.
9. Divergent by Veronica RothRead this as part of the Nook Group's book of the month. Like Divergent, I was not smitten with the story at the outset. Nothing about it really grabbed me, but I kept reading. I actually wasn't deeply invested until about 3/4 of the way through the book, but I'm glad that I kept with it.
10. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie PerkinsAdorable. Though I need to stop reading YA Romance...I need some sexytimes in my books!
10 books in a week...I'm insane.
Holy cow, Marcie! You keep up this pace and you'll be at 104 books by March. O_O
Those are some GREAT books. Some of my favs on this list. I know what you mean about needing some sexytimes in your books. I take a break from YA for that exact reason. :)

Definitely not YA! :D I love this series - I actually haven't read her YA stuff though. More for the list!
I really really liked the Vampire Academy series, Alysha! I'm excited to read the spin-off for those and some of her others as well.If you're an ebook person, I can share the VA books with you.
Marcie wrote: "If you're an ebook person, I can share the VA books with you."I just got an iPad for Christmas, so I definitely have been exploring ebooks (as well as keeping up with all my real books - I just can't let them go). I think I may actually have the VA books in a folder somewhere, and just hadn't gotten around to reading them; if not, I may take you up on that. Thanks!
11. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie PerkinsAt times I really disliked this book. Maybe because I read it so close to Anna and the French Kiss, but found myself getting angry at how formulaic and predictable the book was becoming. Overall though, it was cute and I did end up enjoying it.

I definitely LOVE my real books...I will never be able to give them up entirely, but I love the ease of have a whole library at my fingertips. Not in the mood for the book you're in the middle of? No problem! Pick something new, with no extra bulk in your bag.
12 & 13. Hex Hall and Demonglass by Rachel HawkinsStill on my YA kick apparently, but these books are not not distopia filled, so i'm making progress. Really cute teen series, I love Hawkins' voice. All of the teen drama/angst without being angsty!
14. Bloodlines by Richelle MeadLoving this series just as much as Vampire Academy. So much so that I've started to re-read those!
Marcie wrote: "10. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie PerkinsAdorable. Though I need to stop reading YA Romance...I need some sexytimes in my books!"
Have you read the Kelley Armstrong books (starting with Bitten, there are over 10 of them now)? Those are good fantasy novels replete with some decent sexytimes, if I recall correctly. (And I like to think I do. :) ) I mean, if you're fine with werewolves that is, though the books shift between central characters based on a group of folks who come to loosely and then less loosely know each other, and not everyone's a werewolf, etc., etc. I'm not sure how I felt about the most recent one, but it's a thought anyway?
And if you like sexytimes tension, there's always the Ilona Andrews Magic series. *Terrible* covers, IMO, and the titles aren't much better, but really excellent world building (and plotting, once you get past the first one, Magic Bites, which was their - it's a married couple writing - debut novel, and it shows) if you like gritty urban fantasy. The vamps are *not* hot though.
I'm falling behind, and it's especially sad considering I spent about 12 hours a week on an airplane!!17. Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead

I have really enjoyed this series! Some are great & some are okay... but it's a good read overall! :-)
I agree completely...some parts of the series are less wonderful than others, but overall I really loved it.
Reread the entire Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning as a friend read it for the first time. I love these books!21. Darkfever
22. Bloodfever
23. Faefever
24. Dreamfever
25. Shadowfever
26. The Mating by Nicky CharlesReading as part of my Facebook Nook Group's bookclub. Don't know that I would have picked these on my own at all, but I'm on vacation from work this week and it's rainy and gross here, so they're great books to curl up with! (And full of sexytimes...)
28. Deadlocked by Charlaine HarrisI hated this series when I first tried to read it a few years ago, but I ended up tearing through all 11 of them last summer on a really boring temp job, so I just had to read #12.
29. Some Girls Bite30. Friday Night Bites
both by Chloe Neill
These books are fantastic! Not sure how much I expected to like them going in, but they have far exceeded any expectation.
33. Drink DeepWell, I tore through these 5 books in 4 days, so I can safely say I loved them. Can't wait for the next to come out in August.
(And holy double plot twist!)
34. City of Lost Soulsby Cassandra ClareI didn't even realize this had come out, so a pleasant surprise!
35. Hexboundby Chloe NeillAfter my absolute surprise at loving the Chicagoland series, I thought I'd try Neill's other, more Ya books. I'm liking them, but need some sexytimes.
37. CharmfallWanted a little more from this as the conclusion to a trilogy. Now I'm sort of at a loss as to what I want to read next.
38. The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren KateInteresting book with a surprise/non-surprising twist at the end. Need to get off my YA kick...
39. Before I Fall by Lauren OliverHeart wrenching, beautiful story. I lost count of how many times I cried!
Marcie wrote: "40. Delirium by Lauren OliverStop making me cry on the train Lauren Oliver!"
You are most definitely not the only person who cried because of this book *cough cough*
It's a good book though, huh?

It was such a great book! I immediately started Pandemonium.
43. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba BrayI have read this series so many times that I've lost count. Love them.
43. Biting Cold by Chloe NeillI absolutely couldn't wait for this installment to come out, and of course I wasn't able to start it until last night, BUT it was so great that I finished it last night too!
I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED it! Just the right amount of everything...suspense, supernatural drama and romance. Can't wait for the next one!

These books always entertain me, but at this point I feel like the series REALLY needs to end. It is dragging on and and on and not in an entertaining way...
