I will begin:First, as I mentioned in other threads, I begin so many books, I have difficulty actually finishing one of them! I'm ashamed.
So my first goal is to finish 20 books this year. I hope to actually exceed that number and it may be substantially lower than most of your own goals but to me, it seems attainable!
The following books are those which I would like to read next. (in no particular order)
1. Diary of Virginia Woolf Vol 1
2. Diary of Virginia Woolf Vol 2
3. Diary of Virginia Woolf Vol 3
4. Diary of Virginia Woolf Vol 4
5. Diary of Virginia Woolf Vol 5
6. The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris
7. Il Nome della Rosa (Umberto Eco)
8. The Doctor and the Soul: From Psychotherapy to Logotherapy
9.Personality: What Makes You the Way You Are
title
10.How to Break Your Addiction to a Person
11.I Hate You, Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality
12. Van Gogh, Encore
13.Perusals into (Post) Modern Thought
14.The Face: A Natural History
15.Lincoln: Speeches and Writings, 1832-1858
16.His Excellency: George Washington
17.Einstein
18.Jesus the Christ
19. The Screwtape Letters
20.All These Things Shall Give Thee Experience
Don't be ashamed. Look at MY currently-reading list...! David Hume once said: I don't read books, I read IN them...I often use that quote to console myself.
We should read like birds... To fly, to free ourselves...; not to prove how anal retentive we "must" be.... Jmho, of course...
Heather, when I get home next week I will start reading His Excellency: George Washington www.goodreads.com/book/show/6462His_E...
I like your quote, AC. Thank you.I look forward to your review, Carol. I guess you noticed that was on my list. Let me know how it is.
G.R's told me I read 157 books last year. Reviewed all of them. So I set myself a round 100 for 2012.I don't have a list of 'to read' books, it's whatever I find on the library shelves + AC's JFK assassination recommends.
Always interested in your monthly book read though.
I set a goal of 100 books this year.I am going to try to read some of the books sitting on my to-read list.
I put several art books from my to-do list on my Christmas list, and got three. (Unfortunately one duplicate, so somebody had to do a return.)
I'm reading these now:
Joan Mitchell: Lady Painter
de Kooning: An American Master
Van Gogh: The Life
I'm going to try to search for some of the books on my todo list on our library's website, this year, and try to reserve some.
My goal is 120 books this year. I've already got 313 books on my TBR list so I'll try to read some of them. The problem is that I add books to the list faster than I read.I just read Girl in Hyacinth Blue by Susan Vreeland last week. It's been mentioned by others in the group before. It's historical fiction but I think most people who like art would enjoy it. It's a beautifully written quick read about the emotional attachment various owners have to a fictional piece of great art, a possible Vermeer.
you guys are lucking (aiming at your TBR lists) -- I simply need to work on my *currently* reading list... which is getting a bit out of control...... as per usual...

Amen, AC
What works for me is to start with a small number of books as a goal -- if I reach it, then I can increase it if I want. Personally, I'm more interested in the book than in the quantity.
Books mentioned in this topic
Girl in Hyacinth Blue (other topics)De Kooning: An American Master (other topics)
Van Gogh: The Life (other topics)
Joan Mitchell: Lady Painter (other topics)

We could share our ambitions with each other as to acquaint our friends in the group with our intention!
Your goal can be a number or a listing of certain books you would like to read this year, or both. Oh, and they do NOT have to just be the art books you plan to read. This thread can be open to all books on your list.
Let's hear 'em!
