Are there any Canadian authors here? Looking to do a spot for a literary magazine that focuses on Cdn. Material.

Yep, that's the one. If you do read it I hope you like it. :)
Alexis wrote: "Chantal, I peeked and you do a lot of horror/fantasy work?"Yes - all my work has some fantasy or horror element to it. If you want to sample my work, I have free samples on Scribd.com, Angie's Diary, and my blog. I've published several zombie short stories in anthologies from multiple publishers, but I have yet to publish a full zombie novel, although I just finished writing one in December (first draft).
I will definitely have a looksee Chantal :) And Keith, I managed to find Mountain Man on Kobo...I think I shall read it! Thanks you guys. I'm formulating something in my head, as I think this genre has a lot to offer the literary world. It's definitely worth a discussion at the very least.
Thanks Alexis-- I just checked and there are two of my titles on there that I actually requested to be removed (MM should've been gone two weeks ago). Amazon is pretty much the only place you can buy a copy of MM now. If you can't, drop me a line. :)
Oh my! Well it has already been purchased in anticipation of the gym after work. You'd be surprised how much reading one can get done while torturing oneself! In any case, I'll let you know my thoughts :) I love this Goodreads business-connecting readers and authors :)
Shear Terror is on Kobo, my zombie novelette. My publishers are in the US and the UK so I don't have much on Kobo, mostly Amazon and B&N.
Chantal wrote: "Shear Terror is on Kobo, my zombie novelette. My publishers are in the US and the UK so I don't have much on Kobo, mostly Amazon and B&N."I will have a peek for Shear Terror Chantal! Thanks you guys :) Keith, I got Mountain Man, and then when I went to read it a few hours later, it was "unavailable" :/
Hmmm interesting. Did you try opening it as soon as you bought it? If you have any more trouble with it or kobo, get in touch with me at keith@keithcblackmore.com and I'll fix you up :)
I did! and then when I opened it later it said it is "not yet available in the proper format for reading on this device". :/ :/ I'll give it another day and then harass you :)
Suzanne's a friend of mine - she and I have been contributors in anthologies together. If you want to get in touch with her, let me know. She lives in Quebec.
Her and I have been contributors in one anthology together. Very pleasant person to talk with, and an excellent writer.
Just got this one in the mail. Great cover anyway (which is why I got it... being an artist, not illiterate).
Ordered it from the website.

Zombie Night in Canada is out in e-book format now - at both Smashwords and Amazon.com.https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

I'm in Canada as well - Toronto :) I also have a Zombie available for purchase at the moment - Days with the Undead: Book One.
I will check both of them out! Thanks guys :) Julianne, I lived in The Big smoke for almost 5 years (going to school :)
I have a feeling I'm well out of date here, but I'm also a Canadian author - Niagara Region. Published by the Severed Press and Wild Wolf - repped by Claire Gerus.Let me know if there's anything I can do for you!

Jamie, I will put you on the list for some good ol fashioned Albertan zombies! Are you also getting harassed by the PC's, Liberals, and Wildrosers up there for their vote? Next time someone calls me about the provincial election, I should ask them what their zombie platform is...that'd scare them off!Ian, not too late for the conversation! I guess I should mention that my proposal was shot down :( I really wanted to do a piece on how the genre reflects human nature at it's core, but no one believes my brilliance (lol) *sigh*. I will keep on brainstorming though! It's great to know there are some home grown authors on the site :) you guys all rock
That's a great idea for a blog post Alexis - call your local rep and ask what their party's zombie apocalypse plan is! Start by telling the person that the Liberals told you they want to put them in holding pens, the Wildrose wants to kill them all and the NDP wants to rehabilitate and re-introduce them to society!
LMAO
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Next time someone calls me about who the heck I'm voting for, I am SO asking them about this very important but often overlooked question!
Hi Alexis, yay, a thread about Canadian zombie book authors! I don't see any fellow BC authors here though. My Canadian ZA book Zombie Zone Zero will be free tomorrow on Amazon, midnight to midnight Pacific, if any of you want to check it out. BC based, although part two, in the works, will meander over the border to Alberta. Sorry if it comes off as a Canadian stereotype sometimes... Frozen wastelands and all that other good stuff. But I like to have fun that way. :)

In this hauntingly savage tale of survival, a group of strangers trapped in a liquor store in Prince George, British Columbia, struggle to stay alive in the first few weeks of the zombie apocalypse during the depths of a bitter Canadian winter in late 2012. Led by store manager, Chris Daniels, and the mysterious, but brutally effective, Arthur Johnson, the ragtag group eventually escapes the city and goes on the run from town to town across a province that has gone from one of the most beautiful places in the world to a frigid landscape of gruesome terror, where the dead desire only to rend the flesh of the living.
Hi Cindy!sounds pretty good! *sigh* I will admit though, I have a kobo :/ Seems many authors are against this kobo business. Are you in Prince George? haha, I used to work for a Mortgage Brokerage and we almost did financing for the gym there (I forget the name but the owner is a body builder).
We should seriously start a Canadian zombie nerd support group. Then we can discuss the importance of ketchup chips and toques in the zombapocalypse.
Yeah, lived here since 1993. Ex-Alberta though. Definitely need toques, ketchup chips, macaroni and cheese, poutine and Tim Horton's in the apocalypse. My survivors also had a Brink's truck and white chocolate macadamia nut cookie dough. But seriously, if you want a pdf copy, I can email you one, I think there's a way of downloading those to your Kobo.
Cindy, I'd love a copy! I'll message you with my email :) Well we can't be picky about what we wrangle up in the zombapocalyse. I'll settle for ketchup chips. Not gonna lie though, I'd probably kill for some Timmies a month or so into it!
FYI to everyone in this thread, I have an idea. This idea may take a while, but I am going to write the article I had in mind when I posted here. The world needs to know why the genre is important! lol! I need a section on indie writers. You guys will be my go-to.....
For those of you who missed it like I did, Canadian author Keith C Blackmore's Mountain Man sequel Safari is available on Amazon. I bought my copy this morning and am looking forward to finding out what happens to Gus! :)

Definitely a gooder! Best character study I have ever seen in a zombie novel - It was an amazing book. I also enjoyed the short story about Gus in Cauldron Gristle. Did you read that one, Alexis?
Glinda wrote: "Definitely a gooder! Best character study I have ever seen in a zombie novel - It was an amazing book. I also enjoyed the short story about Gus in Cauldron Gristle. No, I've never heard of it. Might have to check it out though. I actually had Stephen King's The Mist on my mind. I manage a liquor store and we're always joking at work about what would happen if we all got trapped in there with customers during some sort of apocalypse or a blizzard or something. On the same topic, I found another Canadian zombie book writer. I grabbed this free the other day, but haven't even glanced at it yet. Apparently it's based in Fort McMurray though. Should be fun.

Gotcha Cindy! I only ask because I was reading the two at the same time (yours on the E Reader for the gym, and the other a hardcopy). One of the ideas in your book regarding the origin of the plague was almost exactly that in Dead of Night: A Zombie Novel. It was just strange cause I had never heard of that theory before! I'll have to write you up a review :)
Does anyone else have any of their work available for kobo?
Alexis wrote: "Does anyone else have any of their work available for kobo?"Kobo just announced their own program for self-publishing, so, hopefully, we will see more zombie books available for Canadians using the Kobo reader! :)
Hi Everyone,Adding my book to the list. I am currently running a book giveaway which ends on July 1st: http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...
Here's the synonpsis:
When Eddie Griffin becomes the youngest NFL rookie to win the Super Bowl, little does he realize it will save his life. The day he pays a post-Super Bowl visit to the troops stationed at Ft. Hood, 98% of the world's population drops dead. And 99% of those people rise up as flesh-crazed
zombies!
Luckily, Eddie ends up safe and sound in the confines of an Emergency Services Bunker. But as bunkers fall prey to undead hordes, Eddie is selected to accompany Lt. Jim Shrike on a secret mission. Together, they enter a world filled with roaming zombies, desperate survivors, crazed lunatics, mighty warriors and depraved demons.
Guided by an ancient prophecy, their mission leads them into the mystical world of Nabisusha, where they not only attempt to save humanity, but discover the very nature of the universe.

Oh man, I'm trying to get to everyone's book! Jamie, I just picked up yours :) Trying to work out Kobo kinks right now though since my E Reader was stolen, and I'm having trouble with my phone app.
