Sheri If you are an author and are looking for beta readers leave the book title, genre, and your timeline below, plus how to contact you.

If you'd like to make your own thread, feel free.

By signing up to beta read for you, members are agreeing to read your book and give constructive feedback on grammar, plot, characters, etc. The deadline will be up to the author. Please post any specific requirements for your book.

Communication will be between you and the group members who sign up. Please indicate to the beta readers how they should contact you about your book, whether it be private message, email, etc., but please do not use this thread to discuss issues about your book!

Hot Stuff Book Reviews | 25 comments Hi!

I would love beta readers for a book I wrote. I need some points of view and help for my english. I'm a french and I know my english is not flawless so any pointers could be welcomed.
Of course, I don't ask for correction, just feedbacks as precise as you can.

Genre : young-adult contemporary fiction. There's romance in it.

Title : By My Side

Deadline : none

If it's good with you, I would like to send one chapter at a time to work on it without rushing for the next.
Thank you!

Sheri I'm making a thread for you right now. How do you want your name shown in the thread title?

Hot Stuff Book Reviews | 25 comments Thank you. The name doesn't really matter. StephanieR76 will be good or Stephanie Renboit (not my real name by the way).

You can delete this post if it's better for the thread. :)

Sheri No problem. I have it posted for you :)

I was wondering how writers who want beta readers protect themselves from theft? Is it the honor system or is there a way to protect your work? Thanks,Christine

message 7: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Hi Christine, it would have to be the honor system, the same as with giving out books for review. Unfortunately, there is no way to police something like that on here. I suppose you could have a beta reader sign a contract saying they will not give out any information about your book, but again, you would just have to take their word for it.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you, I have been looking into some issues with that and have gotten some information that has been helpful. I will be thinking about it, once I feel my edits are complete I will contact you. I do continue to read though and enjoy helping with edits. I will keep my eyes open for a book I feel I might be helpful with. Thanks again,Christine

Cecilia Robert (Cece26) | 13 comments Hi!
I am looking for beta readers for Soul collector series. The name to use of the thread title: Cecilia.

Book Title (working title): Dark Descend (The Soul Collector Series)

Genre: YA dark urban fantasy. There's romance in the story.

Timeline: April/May 2012

The first book was published as short story(The Grim Reaper's Novice (Soul Collector Series) unfortunately due to unavoidable circumstances was 'un-published'. I will be sending this one as well 'cause it's the begining of the series.

I'd be easier for me to send chapter by chapter. I find it easier to keep track of the changes. I can be contacted through sending a message here on GR with the email address included for me to contact the reader.

Thanks in advance. :)

message 10: by Sheri (new)

Sheri Welcome Cecilia! I'll make a thread for you and hopefully you'll be able to find a couple of readers.

Genre: Young Adult(characters, not story), male/male, Romance
Timeline: 1-2 weeks from time individual chapters are sent

Hey Sheri,
I think I misunderstood the timeline question.
I'd like to ammend my timeline: 2 weeks from the time chapters are sent.

Hi Jonathan. Some writers wait until the book is completed and some like to have it beta read as it is being written. I supposed it's a personal preference.

I wouldn't suggesting posting the chapters here, as there's really no privacy here and anyone can read them. We can make a thread for you, post your information and what you're looking for, and let anyone who is interested know how to contact you. If you're interested you can start a new thread for yourself or I can do it.

Suzy Turner (suzyturner) Hi there! I'm looking for Beta Readers for my third book, The Raven Saga Part III: The Lost Soul.
It is a completed book, about 70,000 words.
YA Urban Fantasy
I am happy to reciprocate (I am a former magazine editor so have a keen eye!)
I would need corrections back within two weeks of sending it out (which I'll do by email)
Thank you!

message 20: by Eric (new)

Eric Edstrom (eric_edstrom) I have a pretty weird short story I need a couple beta readers for. I think it would be classified it as not-particularly-scary horror. Also, it's kind of experimental. It's just 4500 words. I can provide .mobi, or epub. I'd like three beta readers.

message 21: by Sheri (new)

Sheri I'll start a thread for you Eric :)

message 23: by Sheri (new)

Sheri I'll make you a thread Naomi :)

message 24: by Sheri (new)

Sheri It's completely up to you. Some authors like to go chapter by chapter as they write, and some prefer to have the whole thing written and then looked over. I think it's just a personal preference, so whichever way would be easiest for you.

Any input from other authors on this?

message 25: by Emmie (new)

Emmie Cooper (EmmieActonCooper) | 37 comments I would love beta readers for two short stories. I won't ask for correction, unless you feel it's necessary. Feedback would be wonderful.

Title : Aonghus - Hunky and The Beast (provisional title)
Thank you Sheri

Lenore Wolfe | 1 comments I am looking for beta readers:) This is my third novel, and I'm just now figuring out the beta reader part of it, sorry:( This would have really helped in parts of my other novels. I am re-publishing my last novel. I've pulled it. I'm looking for the things that are harming an otherwise great novel. And I'm hoping to work with beta readers on all of my upcoming novels (there are quite a few coming up). Thank you so much for helping me out with this:)

message 32: by Julie (new)

Julie Rainey Hello,
I'm looking for some readers of my sci-fi/fantasy novel Lost Princess: The Journey Home. I've received some reviews that suggest editing so I would love to have some specific feedback on the story.

I'm not sure what a realistic timeline for readers would be.

Readers can contact me on my website under the Contact Me page. http://jraineylostprincess.weebly.com

Thank you. :)

message 33: by Sheri (new)

Sheri I made you a thread with your information Julie!

message 34: by Alicia (last edited Apr 30, 2012 05:57AM) (new)

Alicia (writeralicia) Hello there,

I am looking for beta readers for my 27,000-word (~120 pages in book format) novella. The timeline is tight, but it's shorter than a novel so I think that makes it more reasonable.

Author: Alicia Wright Brewster
Title: Don't Call Me Angel
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Timeline: May 11-May 18

The book is currently with an editor. Depending on how long the editing takes, we may be able to start the beta-reading process earlier than May 11. Beta readers will have at least a week, but May 18 is the hard deadline.

Feedback sought:
I'm not interested in grammar or typos. I have final proofreaders for that. I'd like beta readers to look for inconsistencies in plot, character, or timeline. I'd also like to hear about scenes that lack the appropriate level of tension or emotion. Lastly, if anything is unclear or unbelievable, I'd like to know about that as well.

Thanks! :)

Elryxe Detristeange | 38 comments I am looking for beta readers for my short story collection.

Author: r.a. sputnikoi
Title: Ereonology
Genre: Speculative, Fantasy, Gay, Weird, Erotic, etc.
Timeline: Anytime as long someone agrees =P

Hi there! I have a full manuscript for a short story collection of about 10 to 12 stories, each are written differently, meaning, one is erotic, one is realistic, one is speculative, etc. I need some help with the typos maybe but mostly, I wanna discuss if the stories are unique and fun to read for you and if you will enjoy it for your pleasure. Actually, I am open for anyone to butcher my pieces =P thank you!

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 92 comments I'd love some more beta readers for my current novel -- working title, Reflections. Genre? That's a good question. General fiction? Posthumous fantasy (a suggestion from someone who used to be an editor)? It's a family drama with mystery elements, set in an afterlife of my own devising.

I have a list of questions that I particularly hope beta readers will address.

Depending on the feedback from beta readers, I may be planning to publish by August 2012 -- or I may need to spend more quality time with my drawing board :-).

It'd be most convenient for me if those interested contact me by email, at kawyle@att.net.

Thanks!

Jessa Callaver (jessa_callaver) | 11 comments Seeking betareaders for a new contemporary romance novella. I'd need it back by the 18th of August (short timeline, I know =/), if at all possible. It's about 30,000 words, roughly 60 pgs. The working title is "Working It Out."

The story is about a couple going through problems in their new marriage and a husband who conspires to try and salvage the relationship and in doing so discovers his wife's deeply held secrets.

I'd prefer another writer/author OR someone whose read contemp romance lit before OR someone whose BR shorts before and is interested in the story.

Message me, Jessa Callaver, here @ GR if interested and available and for more details.

Thanks all!

K.L. Coones | 2 comments This is an anthology of short stories ranging (so far) from 3k to 11k words. The work is a 'sequel' to Absolom Rex. Some of the stories are written in different styles so it might be an interesting read for people and wont take copious amounts of time. There is some loose narative poetry as well.

Name: K.L. Coones
Title: Absolom Rex: At Ages End
Genre: Horror/Speculative (Historical Settings)
Timeline: will vary depending on the length of the story(7 or 11 stories completed)

Beta readers can message me on Goodreads. If I could find 2 or maybe 3 ppl to work with that would be good!
ARex is a free download right now, so feel free to skim through it and see if the character interests you.

Thank you!
