People who Poo-pooh a nomination on a "Nominate for Group Read" discussion thread. I mean, isn't this a nomination for a vote? Why put someone's choice down. If it stinks, nobody will vote for it in the first place. Isn't that just another way of trying to dictate your will on a group? Let the vote happen. If the book is bad, say so during the discussion.
I am trying to go with the flow as I am getting older and older but why doesn everybody have to sit right next to me or in front or back of me in a totally empty movie theater. This really bugs me. Also people talking loudly on cell phones. People talking at our table on cell hpones when we're trying to converse and people immediately showing photos of their grandkids on their cell phones as soon as we meet. I think I am an it phone cells and for this reason gave up my I Phone. Then again I do own an I PAD soooooooooooo.
I'm with Nancy on the cinema thing. Also people who come to the cinema and then spend the whole time playing with their phone. Seeing that screen light up really drags me out of the movie.
My wife and I once went to the movies and had a couple behind us who spent the entire movie talking really loud, ignoring everyone who shushed them and then walked out about half an hour before it ended. When you consider that a film at the cinema costs over 9 euros (11$), you've got to wonder what the point was!

Writers who spoil a perfectly good story by lengthening in substantially and unnecessarily with whiny accusatory and tiresome political opinions. The same goes for movies. I'm not talking about stories that revolve around something where political opinion is part of the story. But when it is annoyingly obvious that the book or movie is being used as a platform or vehicle for criticizing a president, party, or promoting an agenda. If I want that I will buy Keith Olberman or Ann Coulters latest books! I am struggling through a Novel now....likeable main character but the mean spirited comments about political figures are obnoxious. I will finish the book I case I am misjudging at the halfway point but I'm not pleased with where it seems to be going.
omigosh one thing i hate is when you give someone attention on a funny joke they said and they keep going about it.ugh!!!
