Shannon, I have not read the Help yet. I broky my cardinal rule and watched the movie with my mom because she looked like she was going to cry when I told her I wanted to read the book first. The movie was awesome! I cried (a lot).
Book 5: Dust City. YA book, fractured fairytale. Pretty good, I will use it in my next novel study.Feb 24
Book 6: Briar Rose. Claims to be ya, but may be a bit much for my students. WW2, haulocaust theme. Great read though.March 2
Book 8: Seduce Me at Sunrise. Pretty good. It's been a long time since I read a romance novel. Forgot how much I like them.March 14
Shannon, I used to love romance novels when I first started reading heavely in my late teans and early twenties, now I'm kind of into them again.

Book 18: The Weight of Silence. I was afraid to read it. I have 3 daughters and didn't think I could stomach the ending. It wasn't the best book I have ever read, but definitely not the worst.April 15
Book: 20 Sweet Not Always - a Harlequin I found at the gas station. Part of the Bookcrossing.com program. Terrible book, cool program.April 22
Book 21: Deadlocked. Charlaine Harris. Book 12. I used to love these books, now there is something missing. Nothing even happened in this book. May 5

I hate it when that happens with a good series hits a wall!
Book 23: Fifty Shades Darker - blah. I'm not saying I won't read the last one, but I definitely won't pay to read the last one.May 22
Book 24: I missed One! The Other Side of the Story. Marion Keyes. Not my favorite, but still better than a LOT of stuff I've read.Date unremembered
Book 25: Tears of The Giraffe - McCall Smith. Good Series if you are looking for a really quick, light read. May 28th
Book 26: Crescendo. Sequel to Hush, hush. I just realized that I haven't read a really great book in a long time, and it makes me kinda sad. Also, I am way behind in my reading (in terms of goal and piles of books in my house). Oh well.June 2

I normally am a voracious reader but didn't get close to hitting 75 last year. Just keep plugging away as times/events/moods allow . . .
By the way, I've read the first 6 books in the McCall Smith "No 1 Ladies' Detective" series and I agree with you. They are light, fun and quick. I really enjoy the quirks of some the characters and the relationship between Mma Ramotswe, her husband, and her employee.
Book 27: The Host. I actually really liked this book. It reminded me nothing of the Twilight series (yes, I have read them all).June 11

I haven't read any of the Twilight books, but I remember liking The Host. It wasn't amazing, but it was a pretty good story, I thought. Have you heard it's going to be a movie?
Shannon, I really love the McCall Smith series. They made a mini series for the Ladies Dedective Agency. I saw the first episode and it was great and then I never caught another one.
I did hear that it was going to be made into a movie, with one of the guys from Vampire Diaries, but that was maybe a couple of years ago. Charleen wrote: "Shannon wrote: "Book 27: The Host. I thought the name sounded familiar, but I didn't every see the series and thought I had made that part up.Andrea wrote: "Shannon, I really love the McCall Smith series. Ugh, that sucks. Hope you get a good one soon!
Still trying to plow thru DCtP, but it is slow going and dull. I hardly recognize my favorite characters, and there is very little intrigue to make the story exciting without them.
Andrea, that's funny! After that discussion about the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, I googled it too and 2 of my daughters and I watched the first episode on youtube. They both loved it. Too bad there's only one.
I know right! I'm think the library might have them in the DVD section though! I'm going to check mine and see if they purchased the series.

And on that note:Book 31: Tea Time for the Traditionally Build. Quick read, did the whole thing sitting on my deck, listening to my kids play.
July 7th
Book 32:Beautiful Creatures. Alright teen-paranormal type book. I will eventually read the sequel.July 14
