Jenny Schwartz (jenny_schwartz) How do you write, keep writing and improve your craft? I thought it would be nice to have a space here to share our favourite writing guides, writers' advice blogs and any hard earned wisdom we've gained over the years. (Anyone who wants to start another thread to moan or celebrate the writing journey, feel free!)

I have two books and a blog that I really like. The blog is Patricia Wrede's. She's a wonderful fantasy writer and her blog archive is packed with long, thoughtful posts on nearly every aspect of writing and specifically, writing fantasy. The two books are Goal, Motivation and Conflict: The Building Blocks of Good Fiction by Debra Dixon and Donald Maass's The Breakout Novelist: Craft and Strategies for Career Fiction Writers.

Jenny Schwartz (jenny_schwartz) I was tweeting -- all right, complaining -- about writing a synopsis for my latest steampunk novella, "Courting Trouble", and Sandy James said ... The dreaded synopsis: A writing & plotting guide So I went and looked it up on Amazon, found it had a kindle edition, bought and read it that day. Really good. I need to put together a proper review ... but first I need to finish that synopsis! So for now, just saying, if synopses writing is killing you, this book is useful. Only downside was the formatting was a bit weird on my kindle. I should probably have increased font size or something in parts.
