Best Books discussion

I am a high school sophomore, and I love books. Everybody else I know my age is interested in the latest gossip or the newest TV show/videogame. For me, the "hot" topic is books. My passion stems out from the fact that I can relate to the fictional characters in novels in a way that I can't do with my school peers. I can have adventures & experience situations that I normally wouldn't be able to have. Books provide an effortless escape from reality, which is rather lonely and dull.

My question is, what makes all you avid readers so passionate about books? What connects you to the stories you read?

I think it is awesome that you are so passionate about reading. My daughters are the same. My oldest, who just graduated high school last week, averages a book a day when she gets in the mood. Don't ever give up your passion for books and reading!! :)

I don't think is the same for me, I'm an "interested in everything" kind of person so, yeah books are a great topic but I like my PS3 and my tv shows too.

I don't know but I think that some of what you said is related to the fact that you don't have someone to talk books to? It happens when you are on high school though, because yes teens are kind of all over the tv, I used to write a lot when I was in high school, that was my vent back then I guess.

i love reading because of the different way the author and their characters all think. my absolute favorite thing is when i have to put the book down and either say "dang" or stop laughing at what i'd just read.
