message 1: by [deleted user] (new)

Currently, I am planning on selecting six new gamemakers who will, of course, also become mods.

For this contest you will post(on this topic) your entries. If you would prefer to keep it private you may message me your entries and they will be posted on the Gamemaker group for us to judge.

Your entries will be judged and given a score. What they will be judged for I will not tell you so we know what you would be more likely to come up with if you have the title of a Gamemaker. We don't want your entry to be something that was carefully pieced together with the requirements in mind, then have the arenas you plan on using as an actual Gamemaker not meet the same standards you set with your entry post. For that reason we are not telling you how or by what we are judging you by.
Later, if you wish to know your score, you can message me and I will tell you what score you were given.

We will be choosing a moderator who scores highest in the written portion along with a moderator who we feel did the best in the problem solving and scenario portions.

Entries only accepted until Sunday the 20th of this month! We will announce the two new mods a week or two after that. As it gets closer to that time we will reveal the date of when the new Gamemakers will be announced.

Please keep questions and spam to a minimum in this topic. Thank you.

Throughout the next couple of weeks we will be posting scenarios for you to answer and solve. Please edit them into your first post to make it simpler for the Gamemakers when they go to review the answers. Try and answer them all if you can.

Requirements for becoming a Gamemaker:
1) You must have at least 250 comments. If you do not know how many comments you have, go to the main page of the group and scroll down to 'members'. Find your name and you should see how many comments you have. The other option is to click on your name and you should see it in small print above your last post. It would say something like, "(showing 1-20 of 270)". The last number is how many comments you have posted in the group.
2) You need to know basic HTML.
3) You need to know how to move folders, create folders, and create and edit topics.
4) You should be active enough online to be able to keep up with the responsibilities of being a Gamemaker.
5) And, last, you need an evil and clever mind.

If you meet those requirements then do what I say below and answer scenarios as they are posted. They may be posted by any Gamemaker so keep your eyes open for them.

The Written Portion
For this portion of your entry you get to:
Create an arena
This arena must be written as though you were about to post it in the group for members to roleplay with. It must be clear, it must make sense, and it must be realistic and thought through.
Come up with at least three traps
The first must be a generic trap that can be used in any arena.
The second and third trap should be something that works well and is tied in with the arena you created.
Create three Gamemaker twists
When you need to stir something up in the arena, you send out a Gamemaker twist. These are generally large events that happen in the arena, not smaller more focused things like the traps are.
The first must be the most evil and gruesome trap you can think of to send out when nobody is commenting or what is posted is all fluff.
The second should be something that can be used in any arena.
The third should be a twist that can only be used in your arena, or arenas very similar to your own.
List some Cornucopia objects
Sometimes members have trouble knowing exactly what they find in a cornucopia. You are to list at least twenty items that can be found in a cornucopia. Five of them must be items that are unique to your arena, but the rest can be the usual type of thing you would find in a cornucopia.

Once you've done those, you only need to stay updated on the scenarios.

I'll start you off with a few scenarios. Answer and respond to them as you would if you were a Gamemaker. There are no wrong or right answers.

Scenario One
A gamemaker needs help. They could use some new questions for the interviews! Do you agree to help them? If you do, what would the questions be? (Please post at least five questions if you agree to help)

Scenario Two
Your arena is dead. Completely dead. You know a couple members in your arena are active in other arenas and/or are active on Goodreads, but they aren't posting in your arena! You've already sparked a couple traps and sent out a major twist, yet still nobody is posting. What do you do?

Scenario Three
Part one: A new member just joined the group. They are completely lost, posting things in the wrong topics, and are jumping into things without checking to make sure they are doing things right. How do you correct them?
Part two: As hard as you tried, they still don't understand and aren't responding well to what you said. They are acting out and causing problems and confusion. Do you: warn them? Ban them? Warn them then ban them? Ask your Head Gamemaker for advice or to take over the situation? Keep trying to explain? Explain a different way? What do you do?

Scenario Four
Two members are fighting over the same spot.
Member one is someone you know will not be very active and may not be able to roleplay at all, but you know their posts are great.
Member two is someone who just joined, is very enthusiastic, and you know is very active. Their posts may not be the best yet.
Member one has been in the group for a while and knows what they are doing. They expect things to be as they have always been and for them to get the spot because they posted first.
Member two expects people to work around them and is threatening to find a different, "better", group if they don't get the spot.
They are both refusing to give up the spot. Who do you give it to?
