I don't know if I fully understand the question. Since the media is composed of so many things, I don't think I can make a generalization. It depends what your sources are. Some are much more reliable than others.

Oh, I see what you mean. Well, that's a tough question. Honestly, I tend not to read newspapers or watch the news. The news is supposed to be unbiased, but there are newspapers/news channels that are geared towards certain audiences and thus, they'll shed things in a certain light or give one-sided arguments about subjects. For example, Fox News (in the US...I guess maybe you wouldn't know about it in the UK) takes a conservative stance on pretty much every subject and tends to portray liberals in a negative way. So, the news isn't always reliable in that sense. You have to be able to distinguish what is fact and what is opinion, and be able to form your own view based on the facts.

Sometimes, but that's something that I think the news tries to avoid. They can't really lie to people, but they can make things look a certain way based on the message they want to convey.

That's also true. I've seen a lot of news segments that are like, "ARE TODAY'S TEENAGERS THE STUPIDEST CREATURES ON THE PLANET?" And I'm like, "Gee, thanks."

That's true. Teenagers are easy to attack since, well, most people hate them. And if they try to defend themselves, their opinions usually aren't taken as seriously. It's a shame.

I don't really trust everything the news says. They choose to do stories on what they want and ignore what would otherwise be taboo.

Taboo?

2 a : banned on grounds of morality or taste

Basically, not really socially accepted, seen as a no-no. Like something very violent or sexual in nature.
