Well for starters honor, courage, love and devotion. He may have had to delve into the dark things like dealing and prostitution....but he always protected his own (and treated those in his employ with respect even if that was the profession they chose).....he loved his mother and sister and did pretty much anything to see them protected, and that goes for xhex and trez and iam! He loved Ehlena so completely that to save her from the evil witch he faked his own death. For a man who had to give up everything even his pride an self worth to protect those he loves, now thats a male of worth! i will overlook the way he had to get the finances for the honor and courage and love he expressed! Im not a big V fan ill tell you why in a tread on vamps r us instead of clogging up Anges page.....will start it shortly!

okay so in continuation on the whole Rhev vs V discussion.....

You know how i feel about Rhev, but V to me is lacking. Here is a brother that yes has been abused as a child and really that can be devistating. But not to truly open up even to the woman in your life about what is you says alot about this brother! There has to be a time that one must overcome the past and move onto a better future......V still isnt there yet and may not be even after 2 books.....because realistically Payne's book was more about V than anyone else!

I think V's reaction to his childhood is definitely understandable...come on this was abuse to the ultimate. His father abused him verbally, emotionally, and physically...to the point of almost castrating him,then tattooing him with a warning for others to stay away from him and finally exiling him to the wilderness. He was left with no-one but himself. And then add on his powers of prognasticationwhere he can see how all those close to him dies but doesn't know when or how to stop it...that would also force him to try to distance himself.

Rhevenge at least had a mother and sister to help him emotionally before/during/ and after his father's abuse. He also had the catharsis of avenging his abuse. And Rhevenge wasn't very forthcoming about his secrets with his family or Ehlena. Didn't it disturb you when he kept trying to get Phury to upgrade to heroin/cocaine? Even after he realized who he was?

As to opening up, you have to remember how quickly his romance was...just to admit he loved her was a major breakthrough. And Jane had issues to deal with too. I think there finally was healing in Payne's book. The ending seemed to leave this impression to me.

She had to write Rhevenge that way. It was in his very nature! And that is EXACTLY what drug dealers do, try to entice u into trying something more.

I think Tiff was atually trying to defend Rhevenge. I can see he has some good points but they just don't cancel out enough ..at least for me. We will have to agree to disagree on this one I think.

I'm listing my favorite Brothers here:

V, Qhuinn (if we count John we have to be able to count Qhuinn), John Matthew, Rhage, Blay, (He's down on my list because of the Saxton situation), Tohr, Butch, Wrath, Z, Rhevenge,then if they count (which they really don't in my head) Manny/Payne and finally Phury (he's just such a whiny, depressing male).

You must know how much I dislike Phury if Rhevenge, Manny and Payne are before him.

I have to say they would rank like so for me...

Rhevenge, John Matthew, Quinn, Rhage, Z, Wrath, V, Thor, Butch, Blay(because of saxton), Phury

mind you i kinda like Manny too!He'd probably be between Butch and Blay for me

I think Blay should have pushed Quinn a bit harder.....Quinn is all messed up and i think a little too immature and needed that extra ummmph to stop being such an ass! Its all about protecting Quinn ;)

Yay...we agree on someone!!! :) Though aren't we really using a double standard here? I mean, Qhuinn was basically a whore and here we condemn Blay for finally getting some after Qhuinn kept on refusing him...Bleck...what am I talking about? Of course, Blay should have waited for Qhuinn!

I have to disagree with that. Yeah, initially Blay didn't admit how he felt and they even shared partners in their clandestine bathroom rendevous (which Blay admitted he did just to be with Qhuinn). But by the time that kiss happened in the infirmary...which was what... gotta be at 4-5 books ago, Blay told Qhuinn how he felt...hence the kiss. Yet Qhuinn continued to whore around in front of Blay, probably subconsciously hoping that it cause Blay to stop loving him because Qhuinn doesn't feel worthy of love. His family and the glymera society have branded him "defective" and he believes them.

Obviously, I am too! Gotta love Qhuinn...as Blay too clearly realizes...even if he is with Saxton. God, even Saxton realizes that they love each other (which gets me mad...how could he do that to his cousin?)!

Saxton DRIVES ME NUTS....and if they stay together for much of the next book i may throw it!!!

Totally agree...but I'm hoping they don't last through it. Ward posted a clip from the book on her Facebook page and it shows just how jealous and over Saxton Qhuinn is. So I'm hoping he finally mans up and tells Blay how he feels.

one can dream.....authors tend to drag things ot though!

The only other novella I know is "The Story of Son" which appears in the guide and in the the anthology

And this is just a story that takes place in the BDB universe; doesn't contain any Brothers.

Okay, ive been trying to answer a question and can't! Does anyone know how many books will be in the BDB series???? Got me ive tried about 10 sites to find the answer but come up empty! Most say 10 but we are at that already and she still hasnt got to Quinn and Blay! PLEASE HELP inquiring minds would like to know?

I don't know how many either...I had heard 10 and then 11 but like you I just want to know when Qhuinn and Blay's book / novella/ HEA is happening!

did you know that you can find out everything about the BDB on that website EXCEPT for how many books are in the series!!!! SO annoying!

I love the website but I only go every few months because I tend to get consumed with reading everything.

The series was originally only contracted for 10 books (that mean through the one coming out in late March), but J.R. Ward has said on her facebook page and website that she is now "open-ended" without a specific number of books and will continue to write the Brothers as long as the readers and her publisher will let her (and as long as the guys "keep talking to her"). She has also said that she already knows who is next (after Tohr) but can't announce it yet...

Jeanne...you are my most favoritest person right now! My biggest pet peeve of authors is not tellinng you how many books they will be putting out in a series.....at least give a person a ball park as well as an update here and there!
