And does anyone know of a good place to buy them where it isn't going to cost $12 for an hour or two of audio? I'm a poor college student, lol.

my ipod has an app for audio books the app and the books are free. however for newer fiction, the library is great.

That's okay! :D I'm planning on getting a few DW audiobooks from my library system, but they don't have many. The Midwest isn't known for having a ton of Doctor Who fans. =P

(Catherine Tate is an amazing narrator. As is Arthur Darvill, but he doesn't get the best stories to read.)

I'd rec Doctor Who: Ghosts Of India for the simple fact that it's narrated by David Troughton.

Stories that are better because of the narrators: 1) Freema Agyeman, 2) Anthony Head, and 3) Catherine Tate.

Big Finish.com does some audio books, as well as new audio drama and is usually always running some kind of special.

or you could try some sites that carry used books like half.com or even amazon. Those might require a bit more hunting.

You could see if your library does inter-library loan for audio books.

Loved Nuclear Time. Great choice. Also, for 11th era Doctor: Autonomy, Night of the Humans, The King's Dragon and Apollo 23.

Like Matt said, Audible is a great place for Doctor Who audio books that are affordable. I read about 20 of them in 2011, and most of them cost around $7.99 and I usually just used my audible credit. There is a monthly fee to use the service, but I think it's worth it for the great pricing and selection on the actual books.

I was looking on Audible, and most of the ones I saw were 12.95 - the rest were 18.95. Maybe I missed something?

If you become a (paying) member you get the audiobooks at a discounted price (and sometimes they will have a special offer where they'll let you download certain things for free).

Yeah, Audible is the way to go. If you become a member everything has a significant discount. I hear audible advertisements that will give you your first month free all the time on my favourite podcasts. If you want one, I can probably send a link but don't want to be considered a spammer unless you actually want it :)

I am a huge Big Finish fan and have listened to tons of their Doctor Who stuff. That's all dramatizations though with the actual characters reading their parts. The Audible (audiobooks) editions are unabridged readings usually.
