Ana sat in her room looking out a crack in the heavy curtains that hung from her bedroom window.

Jake slid through the alleyway, warily watching the streets and lamps. Need to get back to the house, He thought while he readjusted the sack brimming with stolen food.

Dimitri sat in a tree covered in shadows

she looked for persons wearily. Afraid but curious about people, she had only been around her family her entire life

Dimitri heard tires squeal far off, they had found him! He slid down the tree and hopped a fence into someone's backyard

Ana heard a twig crack and pivioted. She quietly snuck around the house looking for the person she had just heard.

They were everywhere! Dimitri hid in the shadows and prepared to attack.

Ana knew her only chnace at ever seeing the outside world was now. She ran out the door sprinting through the shadows of her backyard. cool air rushing past her until she bumped into someone, she resisted the urge to scream.

Dimitri put his hand over her mouth and pinned her against the fence. "You a third?" He hissed in her ear

"Is that like a third child?" she asked whispering.

"Yes dont play dumb with me" Dimitri pushed her harder against the fence leaving one hand on her shoulder he straightened his glasses

"yes, and don't push me! I've never actually been outside before" Ana said pushing him back slightly.

"Quiet" Dimitri hissed as he tugged her to the ground. When the PP car passed he let go of her "You live here?"

" stop man handling me!" she said to him lowering her voice, thsi resembled a scene from one of the many books she had read.

"I just saved your life, how much do you know"

"That I'm a third child. That I have to stay hidden. That my mom would kill me if she knew I was out here. and that I enjoy reading"

"What do you know about the outside world"

"there are people?" Ana said not quite understanding what he was asking.

"Do you know who the population police are"

"mom mentioned them once"

"Do you know what they are"

"er...I assumed they were imaginary?" Ana said

"Always sad to see ones that wont make it, the Population police are very real they catch you torture you and hang you""

"Like the Salem Witch Trials?" Ana thought aloud

"Yeah"

"I guess im stuck here" DImitri sighed unhappily,not that he was always perky but there were better places to be

"Well that isn't my fault is it" Ana said piviting in the opposite direction and beggining to walk away

Emily paced the room. Where was jake? He had left nearly an hour before. he hardly ever was more than an hour. She had put the young children to sleep and now She waited for jake.

Clarissa, also known as Clary, sighed. She plopped down at her computer and started doing the online math program she had signed up for- using a fake name, of course. And a fake location. This just proved how bored she was- she did math in her spare time. Although some of it was pretty interesting. She looked at the statement, and got to work proving it. Soon, she sat back and relaxed. Done. Math, check. History, check. Science, check. English, check. Nothing else academic she could do, and she had read all the books a billion times already. What to do... She heard some noises outside. ((Dimitri and Ana)) Clary quietly got up, and snuck over to the window. She wouldn't die if she just peeked... Hm. Two kids. She read their lips. Talking about third children and population police. Huh. Were there more of them around here?

Aa went inside the house and sat at her computer, would it kill her to look out the window once more?

Clary watched the girl go inside a nearby house. Hm... looks like she wasn't alone. She sighed, the police were nearby, no outside adventures today. She turned back to her computer, and logged on to Goodreads, one of her favorite websites.

Ana sighed and sat up in her room this time willing to peer out her window

Clary peeked out of her window... to see another face staring straight at her from another window. She quickly pulled her head back.

Ana just stared straight ahead at the face, she was sick of obeying rules! She couldn't even make sense of half of them!

Emily was really worried now. He had been gone over two hours. "Where are you?" She whispered looking into the darkness. Mia, her little sister moaned in her sleep. she sat down on the palet next to her and stroked her short blonde hair.

((Maybe Emily looks for Jake, and Mia wonders around. Clary could then find Mia, seeing the Population Police coming, and take her so she doesn't get captured...))

Clary cautiously peeked out the window, and saw the face still there. She frowned, thinking. Maybe the person could read lips? But they'd have to be careful. Hello Clary mouthed.

Finally her fear got the best of her. She motioned for one of the younger girls that hadn't fallen asleep yet. "I'm going to look for jake." She said Your in charge."
And with that she walked into the woods.

Um... are you a third child? Clary mouthed quickly. She held her breath.
