I am going for an emphasis on memoirs/(auto)biographies and classics (but probably a little bit of everything).
I haven't decided to Major or Minor in anything though I tend towards sf&f and YA fiction generally. In terms of classic apocalyptic fiction...
The War of the Worlds
I am Legend
The Day of the Triffids
I remembered reading a post-nuclear war book in school where some of the situations/characters had stayed with me, but I couldn't remember the title. However a bit of googling later told me it was Children of the Dust
Cloud Atlas is a book I just read and loved and fits neatly into your major.other ideas:
Galápagos
haven't read it, but Blindness is related, no?
Allyson Shawhas written a book called The Desperate Ones which is a cyberpunk novel set in a future London- might fit in with your Major.
Majoring in NYC - historical fiction, non-fiction... right now am deep into "The Alienist" by Caleb Carr, and on my commute listening to "Up From Orchard Street" by Eleanor Widmer. Also need to get back to Washington Irving's "Knickerbocker's History of NY."

I decided mine is going to be pre/during/post-apocalyptic novels (and maybe some films too).
Anyone have any favorites? I might have to finally read The Road...
