WOW! So sooooo much happened in this book! CLARA'S DAD is an angel!!!!! I think he's awesome! When I figured out he was an angel and who he was exactly, he turned out to be my favorite character!!!! And... At the end did Clara and Tucker really break up! I was kind of annoyed with Tucker in this book... I liked him in the first book. But in this book... UGH!I had a feeling they couldn't really be together once I figured out Clara was 3/4 of an angel not 1/4!!! He would get old and die, and Clara was keeping secrets from him... So... YEAH! What's you're guys thoughts!! :)

The only bad thing about this book was that it ended! I loved it so much and I'm so sad I'm done reading it. I was so emotional.
I was the opposite. I hated Christian in this book. His constant pushing really annoyed me and I was so happy Tucker went ahead and hit him because I really wanted to. A lot did happen! It was a really sad book. I can't believe Clara is going to Standford with Christian BARF!
I don't dislike Christian but I feel that him and clara just don't click no matter what their destiny says. what I thought was really beautiful here was that tucker let clara go..it was heartbreaking but I guess he couldn't do much since christian and clara belong togather. don't get me wrong, I think they're both stellar guys but tucker and clara just work for me.
I was shocked when Clara's dad turned out an angel. It was fine with Clara as a triplare but the author went far enough make Christian a triplare too. I still don't get it, why has Clara reevaluated her previous decision? Tucker is a great guy who loved her to bits and yet she uses him and finally ended up with christian. Its not that i despise christian, i hate it when the abnormal guy gets everything. Clara clearly acknowledges that there is a triangle but she oscillates between the guys. I totally hated the book for it. But in the end i felt christian and Clara should have happened way before, it is after all the likes that survive long and stay content. At least poor tucker would not be hurt. Tucker deserves someone really special. I totally love Tuck.
I feel that christian and clara don't love eachother? maybe they're attracted to eachother because of destiny. it's just that I love and tucker and clara but christian and clara is more....logical?
Oh wow this book blew my mind. Clara's dad and Angel?!?! I was dissappointed that Clara and Tucker did not end up together but Tucker was kinda of acting like a jerk and he pushed her when her mom died he just couldn't be there for her also he kinda went all man cave on her at prom. I think we got to see a whole new side to Christian and I think that once we get to know him better maybe it will explain his actions through the first two books because like why was he a jerk but then it kinda makes sense why he would be because he was always hiding that he was a Triplare but in this book it seems like he doesn't want to hide from Clara anymore just Clara didn't really want to hide all of that from Tucker but she was trying to protect him. I can't wait for the next book!!
Oh and OMG Jeffery was the one to start the fire?! That blew my mind and then he ran away! I can't believe he was such a jerk to his dad when he showed up I think he might be recruited by the Black Wings because he has some serious anger issues hopefully not thought
Alisha wrote: "Oh and OMG Jeffery was the one to start the fire?! That blew my mind and then he ran away! there is still one(2?) more books left so I'm not willing to believe that tucker and clara don't end up together.
zara wrote: "there is still one(2?) more books left so I'm not willing to believe that tucker and clara don't end up together."I'm not either. There are more books and I think Clara will fight her purpose like her mom. I hope she does. This purpose stuff sounds evil anyway since Jeffrey started the FIRE! That was surprising! How exactly would burning down a forest and killing animals and possibly people, be a purpose?! I wonder if Dark Wings can send fake purposes to people? See I wouldn't follow this purpose stuff. And I used to liked Christian in the first book. But he was so pushy and this triplare stuff was just lame. I don't care what kind of special angel you are Clara loves Tucker.

throughout the entire book I thought Jeffrey was under the the influence of a dark wing and who knows, maybe he was. I bet he'll join samjeeza and his army.
zara wrote: "I wonder if book 3 will take place in italy which means no tucker :("I was wondering that too. If it will be her summer in Italy or if it will just skip to when she is at school in Standford. I'm sure either way the author will figure out a way to include Tucker. I can't imagine a whole book without him?! That would suck!

I don't think she will because tucker is a major character but I still can't see how it will work out. I just can't see clara fall out of love with tucker! they really did have something unique.
Christian and Clara doesn't feel right to me.. it's too forced.. Christian only became really interested in Clara because of the vision and vice versa..whereas Tucker and Clara was through friendship and choice.. it's real love and not forced in anyway. Unfortunately it does seem like she's going to end up with Christian. Jeffrey starting the fire..WOW..Why would his purpose be to start the fire?!
I'm only going to read the next book to find out the reasons behind Jeffrey's purpose, also Angela's italian boyf and to see if Tucker finds someone worthy of his love.. I'm done with Clara and Christian.
Ferdy wrote: "Christian and Clara doesn't feel right to me.. it's too forced.. Ferdy wrote: "I'm done with Clara and Christian."
AGREE! They totally make me want to BARF! I seriously don't think she will end up with him though. In books when a character is basically forced into something, as in it's your purpose you must, they usually fight it and get their free will back.

I hope so, but it did seem like Hallowed was setting up C&C as meant to be and C&T as no longer belonging together..it's so annoying we have to wait a whole year for the final book:(
I love how the book ended, I'm just sad that it ended so soon. I fell for Tuck in book 1 and even more so in book 2, I feel that Clara and Christian aren't meant to be, not in the sense of lovey dovey anyway, maybe their purpose is more to fight off the black winged. I think she's deeply in love with tuck and him with her and I think they make a better match made in heaven than her and christian. I had a feeling her brother was to blame for the fire as well, but I feel there's more to it than just what we got in the book. I hope the next book is in his pov, which would be a nice twist but if not then I hope Clara goes with Ang and some how she ends up with tuck again lol. I just want them to be together. I nearly lost it when she told tuck in her bedroom the whole truth and he had tears in his eyes, I was like "noo, please don't hurt him, he your destiny" but ya I'm sorta happy that the author kind left it up in the air, she wasn't really breaking up with tuck, or really going for christian so I like how it ended :D really great book can't wait for the next one
Ugh, SO FAR AWAY! I really loved these books - so much more than I thought I would! It's going to be hard to wait a whole year for the next one!
This book was amazing ! I liked Chris and Tuck but i know her and tuck can't be togteher. Her and Chris are meant to be !!! Clara's dad and Billy are awesome ! Poor Jeff :/ When Clara's mom died it was mad ad but i guessed it all along. Vant wait for the next book !
yes! I think tucker deserves a normal life! do you think he will be able to keep up with clara? Christian can always be there for clara in ways tucker can't.I also think there are parallels between maggie's story and clara's. just like maggie couldn't fight her destiny, clara can't either. but I may be wrong.
If Hand didn't want Tucker and Clara to end up together, she shouldn't have made Tucker so appealing. Or she should have given a reason as to why Christian would ever be interested in Clara if they weren't both Triplare. Its like the only reason he kissed Clara was because it was his purpose and they're meant to be togther. UGH...if your purpose was to hit Clara with a bat, would you do it, Christian?
"if your purpose was to hit Clara with a bat, would you do it, Christian?"LOL I got a good giggle outta that
Kyla wrote: "If Hand didn't want Tucker and Clara to end up together, she shouldn't have made Tucker so appealing. it will be a bittersweet thing for me because I LOVE tucker but I don't mind clara and christian because I truly believe he loves clara. I just don't think that tucker and clara will work in the long run.

me too! I agree! And I bet you Christian would! He is so lame. I cheered like a mad woman when Tucker hit him. "You smug bastard!" I was like yes!

I love Tucker but I think it would be very hard for him and Clara to be together when he's going to age and she wont...

Stayed tooned for a psychotic rant: I would have been ok if Tucker would have died (esp. at the hands of Samjeeza since I love a good villian), but seriously. To know that he is still alive and Clara isn't with him kills me more than Tucker dying. I would even be okay with him and Clara being together but him dying in the long run because of a mysterious car crash (because everything about Tucker is mysterious). If Tucker died and she fell for Christian than that would be cool. She wouldn't feel guilty. What Kyla would do: I would make a third character named, Chuck, who was mysterious and sexy like Tucker, but a Triplare like Christian...who also has a horse named Titas. Who could choose between a guy who dumps you at a dance to dance(and drive home basically leaving you stranded until he comes back) with his ex or a guy who flashes his fangs at any single guy who comes near his girlfriend (omg wouldnt it be awesome if Tucker was a vampire and he would be immortal so this aging issue could be worked out)??? Such a hard decision...they would both be amazing to spend your life with(and you only get one life...or in Clara's moms cause, about six). So why not combine the two. Chuck would be the perfect guy. I <3 Chuck.
I really need to write fan fiction to make Chuck a reailty.
OK, I was thinking: there was two fire in the first book. One started by Jeffrey. So he started that fire so he can go save Tucker? if so, what is the point of that? OR did he start the other fire so Clara could go meet Christian in the forest? which I still don't think make sense. What do you guys think? Did I miss something?
Emerald wrote: "I don't like Christian either, there was just something about him that really pissed me off in the first book. The second one didn't do anything to change that opinion. There was just no darn chemi..."Ditto everything! Lots of annoying stuff
Clara "well Angela sees me in Stanford so I guess I'll just go"
Christian "well I guess I'll just follow my purpose... hmmm ditty doo... even though Clara keeps telling me she loves someone else I'll just keep bugging her"
Tucker "I want to fight for her but don't know how"
Really?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?
ok, so, I finished the book last night and I am so conflicted about it! I absolutely LOVED Tucker in Unearthly, he was perfect, but in this book cynthia hand just didn't give him a chance to shine, this was Christian's book and that was it. She didn't really show us Clara and Tucker like she did in unearthly , instead we'd hear from Clara how Tucker didn't know what to say or how he was uncomfortable and such. I hated that! Now on to Christian, I stop caring for him after the whole prom disaster, he deserved to stay alone standing there at prom staring after Clara!
That being said, I sadly agree that Christian is the best option for Clara, even though he is lame and boring. I decide this very early in the book, when Clara and Tucker where together and he couldn't handle the glory, how can Clara be herself when everytime she gets happy or excited she'll have to control herself? and then of course there is the aging issue and the fact that he would be in danger from the black wings with no means of defending himself against them. The other thing that bothered me was Jeffrey, ugh! he was such a jerk! I find it really hard to believe that was his real purpose!
PS: sorry, this is so long but I needed to get it out of my chest :S
Virginia, I agree 100% with everything you just said and I agree with all of your feelings about this book!!
The other thing that bothered me was Jeffrey, ugh! he was such a jerk! I find it really hard to believe that was his real purpose!I don't understand why he didn't talk to Clara or his Mom about his purpose beforehand. There's no rule against it, because he knew all about Clara's purpose.
Also, Clara never discusses with her mom, dad, Billy, Angela or anyone else about how Jeffery is starting to grow black feathers. She just notices them and completely forgets about it.
These people really need to learn to communicate :P.
First of all, talented writer. So talented. I really connected with the pain she felt after she finds out that her mother is going to die. Everyone has their own way of coping with grief and this was nicely portrayed here.Second of all, I still cannot warm up to Christian and I don't feel Hand gave me any reason to think that he and Clara are meant to be something more than just friends. Their interactions are still forced. Now, if this is intentional (and I hope it is), good on her: she would be showing that there are two characters that, on paper, are meant to fulfill their destiny together. Here we have destiny. Do we have to like our destiny? Does the fact that her mother, in the end, pretty much did what was expected of her indicate that this is what she will do too? Is she supposed to stay with him because it is written? Who says that? God? These are questions that pop up whenever we read those scenes. But even when Hand made an effort to get us to know Christian, I think she still fell short. But, you know, this might very well be intentional. This is a smart writer.
Third of all, there are ways of creating a character and there are ways of creating a character. When you show me Tucker, slightly embarrassed, shoving a 50 dollar bill to his little sister, even if he knows it's not much (yes, this is from book 1); when you show me a character slowly but surely growing and take pains to describe them and write about the way they think and feel, you're making me care. I'm not at all into the touchy-feely stuff, I never was except when it's well done; and here, with Tucker, it is just so smartly done. So I have begun to think of this not as a battle between destiny and free will, but between destiny and love. I blame the writer entirely, of course. Hand describes this beautiful journey from indifference to overwhelming love. This is not senseless Edward-Bella (or whatever it is the other guy is called) kind of "love"; this is actual, rational, progressive, intuitive love. Which leads us to my fourth and last point:
I hate love triangles. Even when they make sense, like they do here. Love triangles tend to assassinate characters and that fist fight at the end nearly accomplished that. Some people might fall for the brooding Christian thing, whatever, I don't much care for it and it's sad that this still depends on a choice between A and B, I hate it because I feel the writer feels compelled to make me think both options are equally valid and they are not. At least that is not the way they are being written or maybe I'm reading it all wrong. Love triangles take so much from a good story, they weaken it greatly. Even this one.

Isa I agree! I thought about Clara's father and the "Free Will" lecture. I have a feeling about this but Mrs. Hand does it so well(this is one talented/skillfull writer) that at this point, I can only speculate. I hate Love Triangle with a passion!

You are so right! I wondered the same thing myself! I, could understand that he didn't wanted to say anything because he was supposed to start a fire, but he could have at least said that he was supposed to save Tucker!! and honestly why not ask his mother about the setting tucker'd land on fire?? He sure had a lot of doubts about it!!!
Sarah wrote: "Isa I agree! I thought about Clara's father and the "Free Will" lecture. Next book will be the final one, so I guess a year from now we'll find out :S
Honestly? I think Hand dug her own hole. She did such a beautiful job at building the Clara-Tucker relationship that she doesn't know how to make it out of that hole. Does she even want to? Yes, they cannot be together, but why write such an effective love story then? Even at the end, Clara was certain she loved him. Also, this is the first angel book I have read, I am not too familiar with the mythology and decided to read this series because it came highly recommended, but it is my understanding that this glory thing is a big deal and she's only able to experience it with him. The time she and Christian did it, I think it was more Christian's doing than her own, which is why he told Angela that it wouldn't work with her. So, there's that. The fact that she can feel this huge when she's with Tucker, even towards the end, tells me that this is the real deal.
How can Hand dig herself out of that hole with just one book left? I have no high hopes for the quality of book three, to be honest. Which is a shame because she really has some beautiful writing.
