Free & cheap Books
I can't vouch for it, but it looks cute and was actually released in print (always a good sign!). Now a free Nook book: Murder on the Rockshttp://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/murde...
A recommendation from the UK kindle section, Crime in the Communitywhich is free on Amazon uk and the first in the series - quirky with gentle humour. Not read it yet, but sounds promising

This is the first in the series set on a coastal island in Maine. It's a good read. This one was a finalist for the Agatha award for best first mystery.

go to The Cheap. Then sign up for their notices and every day they send you a notice for free books for your NOOK. Loads of romances, murders, cozies, Christian, biographies and much much more. Sometimes I get three emails telling me what's free.
Brenda wrote: "go to The Cheap. Then sign up for their notices and every day they send you a notice for free books for your NOOK."Thanks, Brenda. I also subscribed via RSS to Books on the Knob, discovering freebies.
For those of you without e-readers (me), I use the free Nook and Kindle apps for the PC and iTunes allows for reading iBooks (and there are others). Using both blogs listed, I have found full-length, freebie cozies to read. Some are specific to one format; others combinations. Note, however, that the "free" price time is sometimes limited. (If it comes up not free on one, I check others. If not free, I just miss out that time.)
Though I prefer hard-copy to e-versions, free is free and it's a quick way to sample series. Some series have additional books priced at .99 and up. I'd have to like the series A LOT to purchase a version I don't actually own . Paying for "access" is not the same as owing something substantial---even for a couple of bucks.
I also search both B&N and Amazon for books priced 0.00 to find new freebies that might not have been reported in the blogs.
Free right now (as of 07/03/12 but CHECK before downloading.):
The Saucy Lucy Murders - Lexie and her daughter move back home to Moose Creek Junction, Wyoming, to be near her sister Lucy and open a business—The Saucy Lucy Café. I read this last year (library). It was very good. I liked the protagonist and her sister. There is a second out in the series I'm hoping to find at the library or e-freebie.
If You Can't Stand the Heat - First in a series featuring Poppy Markham, a public health inspector, whose family is in the restaurant business.
Heartshot and Red, Green, or Murder - The first and (I think) latest in a series about a Sheriff in Posadas County.
Death of a Serpent - set in 1866 and featuring Serafina, a forty-something midwife with seven children and diminishing funds. This book is on the GoodReads giveaway list right now.
Trouble in Mudbug - A Ghost-in-Law mystery romance featuring scientist Maryse Robicheaux and her overbearing, dead mother-in-law.
Spying in High Heels - Shoe designer Maddie Springer's life takes an unexpected turn from Manolos to murder.
Bubba and the Dead Woman - Bubba Snoddy is a good old country boy who just discovered the dead body of a woman to whom he was once engaged to marry. His house is haunted. His mother runs an illegal gambling ring...
Invisible - Ivy Malone is an inconspicuous older woman who has a mutant curiosity gene that often lands her in trouble. Unlike most women her age, she snoops and pries her gray-haired self into one hilarious escapade after another.
Okay... more no-/lowcost ways to find eBooks. I received two newsletters today that each had articles on ebooks.How-to Geek's list is larger and lists lending and library sites, but I'm listing both because Komando's has a couple of sites not mentioned on HTG. If you're interested check out:
**How-to Geek's The Best Websites for Finding, Downloading, Borrowing, Renting, and Purchasing eBooks.
**Kim Komando's Stock your e-book library for free.
ok everybody..............FREE on Kindle...."BUYING TIME" by KELLY Cochran
Today is the last day, so hurry. I enjoyed this one. #1 in a new series.
Here is another site for free Kindle books. You can have it set for a daily e-mail of just the genres you want, or browse the site itself. http://www.ereaderiq.co.uk/free/
Superior Justice by Tom Hilpert is free this weekend on Amazon.
I'm from Duluth and have loved going up the North Shore, so this was a fun read for me. http://www.amazon.com/Superior-Justic...
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003SE7O40?t... Take the Monkeys and Runhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UZGH7U?t... Guilt Trip
More freebies…Poisoned Pen Press has two of their "cozy" books for free. Last week they were available on iBooks, but now both are also available for Kindle. (I use the PC Kindle App and iTunes.)
Betty Webb’s Desert Wives is the second book in her Lena Jones series. >> iBooks / Kindle
Donis Casey's The Old Buzzard Had It Coming is the first in her 1900’s Oklahoma Alafair Tucker series. >> iBooks / Kindle
I had a chance to hear both authors speak at CozyCon earlier this year, but have not read any of their books. I've added both to my ever-growing TRF (to-read file). I'll get to them sometime!
Free is such a fun way to sample series. :o)
**As always, DOUBLE-CHECK the pricing. Sometimes the "free" price is for a limited time only.**

These are free for the Kindle. I have a Nook. Just thought I'd let everyone know so those of us with a Nook won't go looking.

Thanks for the suggestions. I picked up
and rather enjoyed it. So much so I bought the second book.
Just received a note from a local bookstore...20 @HarperPerennial ebooks for $20. You want?
Changing Hands
There's only one item I'd consider a cozy mystery, Two for Sorrow by Nicola Upson.
With 20 ebooks for .99 each, you might find some others.
FYI from their site: Changing Hands Bookstore -- an independent community bookstore... At Changing Hands we are dedicated to doing business as a responsible member of our community in a manner that results in making a modest profit without exploiting our employees, our vendors or our customers. When you shop at Changing Hands, you join with us in building community.
Brenda wrote: "These are free for the Kindle. I have a Nook. Just thought I'd let everyone know so those of us with a Nook won't go looking."I wouldn't let the fact that you're Nook and a lot of the freebies are Kindle stop you from looking at or getting freebies. I downloaded the PC app for Kindle so I could get their freebies (only "buy" Nook). Reading via PC is not the greatest, but I can do it. Also, some of the items offered for Kindle are also free on Nook or iTunes (whose DRM-free files can be loaded into the Nook, by the way). If there's a book that looks especially good, I will check for a Nook version.
Finally, take a look at Calibre and see if that can assist getting those freebies Nook-ready (EPUB, PDF, etc.)
September's read STILL LIFE is available on your nook for only $2.99. Thought you might like to know!
US http://tiny.cc/vly4jw http://tiny.cc/zjy4jw
My cozy mystery featuring Agnes Barton and Eleanor Mason will be free on Amazon Sept 5th - 9th. They are both senior citizens, but don't count these two out. It's laugh aloud funny with a mystery to die for.

More free e-books (as I write this, at least)...They're listed as romantic suspense/mysteries, so I thought I'd post them here. The site says they're free September 19 and 20. Please check pricing before clicking to "buy." Prices are subject to change (sometimes quickly!).

From another newsletter. Again, free as I write this, but CHECK pricing before “buying.” Prices are subject to change without notice. Karen wrote: "** Dear Crossing (GoodReads) -- Amazon Link (mystery)..."Thank you, Karen.
This one, "Dear Crossing", sounds like one to be avoided - 12 reviews, all 5 star? Not likely ...
Another outlet for finding free e-books. Hundreds Zeros lists books in a variety of categories. Here's a link to the Mystery & Thrillers pages. As I write this, there are about a dozen that look like "cozy"-types, including Kerry Greenwood's Cocaine Blues, Phryne Fisher #1. (There's now an Aussie TV show based on this series!) I check the site every day or so to see what's been added. Sometimes the offerings are mid-series additions, but cheapskates can't be choosers and it allows for sampling series without buying.
As always, prices are subject to change without notice, so make sure to check the price before buying.

For those of you interested, I purchased on 01/01/13. They were still priced .99. However, as I always caution, check the pricing before selecting to buy.
From Joyce
The first book in the Passatonnack Winery series is 99 cents.
DIED ON THE VINE -
Tech writer Cissy Rayburn and her retired bureaucrat husband Jack own a winery in rural Virginia. One day, notorious MIA chaser Obadiah Winslow shows up and tells Cissy that he believes that her first husband Jimmy, shot down and reported killed in Viet Nam, survived the crash and is still alive in a Vietnamese prison. Cissy mistrusts Winslow, who has a reputation as a crackpot; she doesn't believe him, but finds his visit disturbing.
Three days later, Cissy finds Winslow dead in the vineyard, stabbed with Jack's pruning shears. To the local sheriff, Jack has a good motive to eliminate Winslow. Can Cissy find the real killer before the sheriff arrests Jack?

For those of you (us) who prefer to buy Nook, it's also .99 at Barnes & Noble.
Murder in the Roundis free today on Amazon. This is the e reader version. Not sure if it is free on nook or not.
For any Cozy Mystery Corner members who might be interested, I'm giving away free e-book copies of my canine cozy THE KARMA OF KING HARALD.
All you need to do is shoot me a message through Goodreads or directly to richardaudry120@gmail.com. Let me know if you read on a Kindle or an Epub device. Here's what some Amazon reviewers are saying... http://www.amazon.com/Karma-King-Hara...
Not really cozy mysteries at all, but Amazon Local Deals is offering a free voucher that will enable one to purchase the 14 Ian Fleming-written James Bond novels. Each is $1.99 with the voucher. The voucher is good through 02/24/2013. I picked up the voucher, but don't know that I'll use it. I'm more of a Nook person (though Calibri helps with that!) and I prefer not to pay for air books. Plus, my father has a set of the early books in paperback. I just wanted the option.
My book, Ocean Alley Adventures, is free this weekend at www.amazon.com/dp/B00DLLCR60 It has the first three books of the Jolie Gentil Cozy Mystery series, which is set at the Jersey shore. There are five books in the series, and they get funnier as they go. Enjoy!
