For my second novel of choice, I have award-winning novelist Damon Galgut's In A Strange Room. The cover features the silhouettes of two figures atop a mountain pointing into the distance. Mysterious and interesting. It is a short novel, about 200 pages, which also helped me in choosing it. Being paperback is always a good thing for me, personally, since it holds my attention longer. Once the pages are flipped, one immediately notices the clear font, short lines, interesting dialogue and lack of quotation marks, which gives an interesting, and a unique format of writing. The storyline, too, is compelling and psychologically tense. A story of two men as they travel and encounter new bonds, remote experiences, unspoken relationships, the hardships, isolation with interesting quotes. The novel has been a finalist for the Man Booker Prize in 2010.
